Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
Regardless of your feelings on the Rock or Punk, I really only have one point to make.
Both of those guys brought intensity to that final promo. The closing segment of the show made the rest of the show (save for a few things) look like absolute shit. Rock and Punk were on such a higher level than everything else that happened, that I'd honestly be down with the WWE firing half of the roster to give more time to intense, focused feuds like this one.
I mean seriously, we can run along with our 'Vanilla Midget Kayfabe Breaking CM Punk' jokes and our 'Catchphrase Machine Dwayne Johnson' insults, but I don't see why we have to choose one or the other, when both of these guys were on such a damn high level compared to the shit we normally see on WWE television. That shit was captivating, it was interesting, and it planted seeds for a feud that might actually let us see some different stuff out of the Rock (I could be reading it wrong though, but regardless).
I know that mark wars will always exist, and I know that some will pick apart that cookiepuss line, or how Punk started getting repetitive, or what have you, but honestly, it's nights like this that we need to stop being so fucking picky. It's nights like this that we stop worrying about the 'Ratingzz' and 'Who buried who' or 'That promo could've been better' or 'Wow way to suck up'. That final promo was honestly fantastic, and I'm going to look at it as a STORY and a FEUD that will unfold however it will unfold. I'm only here to enjoy the ride. With CM Punk and The Rock at the front of it, I have no doubt that it will be a great one.
