They were both fantastic and I was very invested in it. Obviously Punk will win as he's a heel therefore he can get away with literally saying whatever he wants, Rock being the face means there are restrictions on what he can say.
It's no coincidence heels are always more entertaining than faces. I'll say Punk simply because I was more invested in what he was saying, that being said, if the roles were reversed and Punk was the babyface and Rock the heel, it would be the other way around, that's just the way it goes.
It was great to see easily two of the top ten mic workers of all time share the ring together.

Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
I had a check on twitter and saw that people who don't watch wrestling anymore tuned in when The Rock was on TV and they were giving quite a bit of praise towards CM Punk which is great to see. Some were saying how they were very impressed with CM Punk and had never even seen him wrestle before.
I mean if this is the type of shit The Rock is bringing to the WWE then as we all know it's very good for business. If people tune in just to see The Rock and they manage to catch glimpses of talents such as CM Punk then it's so good for the company.
Hats off to both men, they were both great tonight, 15 minutes of that and it's already better than anything Cena/Rock brought us.
Punk didn't own Rock, and Rock didn't own Punk. It was an equally great promo from both guys - Punk playing his straight ahead, no bullshit persona to the hilt with some excellent lines, and Rock responding with some intensity of his own. Could've done without the 'COOKIEPUSS' stuff but if it gets the kids more interested in the feud, then it can only be good for both guys. Can't wait to see what they do next.
Exactly.
Usual Punk mark PUNKWANKING. It was an even trade, Punk just came with a more serious style which gave the illusion that he was better, just because you keep a straight face (which is expected of a heel who feels he deserves to be respected) and say badass one liners don't mean you own the opponent. The criteria in which people use to justify their opinions concerning the promo here is downright hilarious.

Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
Rock's haters are hanging on to his childish insults to bring his promo as a whole down. I wasnt a big fan of cookie puss but as a whole his promo brought a whole lot of intensity and I absolutely freaking loved Punk's "boxing with God" line. This feud will bring out the best from both guys and I cannot WAIT for next week.
Was discussing with a friend and came up with this:
I thought Punk easily won the promo in the eyes of anybody that's not 10. I've nearly stopped watching all together at this point, and this is the first one I've watched on TV in months. Punk just absolutely shined a 100 watt light on everything that is wrong with the current wrestling product, and Rock just came out and handed him a 150 watt bulb. You can't have a guy who is obviously going to pander to the fans go out there to reply to a guy who just pointed out why that is stupid.
Actually Punk didn't point out what is wrong with current wrestling, he just pointed out what is wrong with wrestling now that I think about it. That's the risk you take when you let someone go off like that. I mean yeah, it's good for some oohs, but at the expense of your product. If you're really going to keep this PG crap, I could step in the ring with anybody in the company and absolutely verbally tear them to pieces as long as I'm free to say what I want. At the end of the day, your product isn't real, and everyone has to work to keep up the front. When you let a guy do a "shoot" like that, it's just too easy to poke holes in the facade that is professional wrestling. Then you have the Rock come out and try to apply band aids everywhere by doing his professional wrestling thing, but that only works for people that can't think.
