The crowd explosion when they see Rock behind the newspaper is awesome. That was a time when you got excited with every little Rock mention or a shot in video package in hope that it's a sign for something. So to see an actual promo like he did in March 2007, October 2009 and especially HOF 2008 was something special.

The Evolution/Rock n Sock was awesome while it lasted. Love this segment too. Funny how people say Orton can't cut a good promo if his life depended on it. And the way Foley talks about being beaten down 3-on-1, he makes it sound like it's real!
Orton vs Rock would be so awesome next year!
The Rock/Foley/Evolution program was probably the best in 2004. Started with Orton's rise as a young, arrogant heel against the likable legend Foley. Turned into Rock coming back to help his friend on the biggest stage and ended with Foley as the Hardcore legend against Orton. Character development here was brilliant. The WM20 match was also pure entertainment with the Rock/Flair exchanges stealing the show. Lance Storm rightfully wrote about how that interaction and the match in general should be a prime example in every wrestling school because that kind of fun and crowd investment is what wrestling is all about.
Rock/Eugene was great and the setup for Rock's surprise entrance made the pop even more epic. I will put it second from that time only behind Rock's return to save Foley in Anaheim because of the combination there with JR and King on commentary along with the crowd in insanity with one of the biggest reactions of all time.
Rock's sprint to the ring to fight Evolution that night he returned 13 days before WrestleMania XX was one of the best returns ever, added with JR's commentary and just how electric that moment felt with the crowd and the heels getting their asses kicked. I love moments like that. Maybe we'll get something similar with Rock/Ryback/Shield.

I hope so.
That night in Atlanta, most of the crowd obviously knew that The Rock was in the building. Signs everywhere, huge Rocky chants etc. But it made the segment that much more special in my opinion. You could feel the anticipation in the air and everyone was just waiting for him to make his entrance. Foley teased it and set it up perfectly by leaving the ring as if he was going to get in touch with Rock only to stop and turn back round to make the reveal. Crowd went molten and rightly so.
Are we safe to assume the crowd in Tampa is going to be majorly hot for Rock on Jan 7th?
King was seriously marking out every time The Rock appeared even as a face. He truly had a blast as an announcer during Hollywood Rock. If only things were as good today as they were in 2003 and 2004.
Jerry Lawler was a huge Rock fan since day one. Even before his debut in the USWA. He saw the astronomical potential in him as a wrestler and a showman in a way nobody did before, maybe besides Pat Patterson. Lawler also mentioned on the 99-00 DVDs that even when Rock was a babyface and he was a heel announcer he couldn't heel on him completely because he just couldn't stop himself from reacting naturally when watching him perform. If you notice in around mid 1999 when Rock was on a meteoric rise as a babyface, King was throwing some line like "What all these people see in this guy?" just to stay in character and then singing along and laughing from anything Rock did. Jerry Lawler also called The Rock the greatest of all time on numerous occasions and the biggest star of all time in the 90s DVD, as well as the best mic worker and performer he has ever saw. King marking out in the background of Hollywood Rock on a weekly basis just made the magic that was this character even more enjoyable(And even before that during the Corporate Champ run). Awesome chemistry between them without even trying, part of it is the naturalism of it, there was nothing fake or forced, just true feeling and enjoyment on a TV show. Was also nice to hear that Rock gave his $800 shirts to Jerry.
The Rock vs Jerry Lawler could have been an amazing program but at least we got this:
