Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion

That is Truth, I'm pretty sure.

I mark big for Nation Rock but most of his stuff I really like is from 98, not 97. That promo posted is pretty mediocre like everyone said. He really came into his own as a performer that year, diversified himself, felt more natural and did great whenever he got lengthy mic time. Meltzer gave him the most improved award for 98 IIRC and we all know how Big Dave knows what's up.

^His best work from 97 imo. He had some other funny one liners but as an overall promo, this is probably the best.

His facial expression are over the top AF in this video and Austin improvises and calls him out on it. "I'll seal your damn lips closed."

Rock and Cena last year at WM 28 were deliberately holding themselves back in the ring. They didn't perform to their full potential.Cena succumbed to 2 Rock Bottoms which was a surprise because I expected him to kick out of at least 2 Rock bottoms.
Next year I expect Rock/Cena 2 to be a five star match.
There's no such thing as passing the torch to a 10x WWE champion.

Epic. Interesting that Rock got better crowd reactions too. IMO this was The Rock at his peak.

admiremyclone's post was a fucking masterpiece.

This was SO much better than I remember. I wish Rock could still do that and be less corny like he is today (though still great).

Also, notice how Orton played to Rock's jokes? That's the problem with a lot of todays wrestlers - they no-sell everything. Punk does it all the time, Cena was god awful at no-selling Rock during there feud ect.

edit:

Apologies for the double post.

One of the reasons I hope Punk can put his vagina away for one moment and compliment Rock on the same level Jericho did. Jericho and Rock's rivalry was underrated, but they tore up segments like pros.

Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion

admiremyclone 2007 promo made me cry about what we miss with him leaving and YES those were hard hard times

Rock316AE YES that was a time when you got excited with every little Rock mention or a shot in video package in hope that it's a sign for something and especially HOF 2008 was my birthday and again i cried from pure happiness like my hero is here in person after 4 years even it wasn't in the ring

but that long time away i think worth for the GREATEST RETURN like ever ..

agreed

it's during his feud with Shamrock were his promo skills exceeded and improved bigtime, he became more fluent and coordinate on the mic in a short time.. he found his calling

btw, Rock should say "Tick,Tock" during his promos with Punk, he always make it sound so epic and intense, and it fits the situation with Punk's 400 day reign and all

The haters said we wouldn't see him on RAW again before Wrestlemania and then he'd be gone after. They were WRONG. We saw Rocky in Chicago on the go-home RAW.

They said there's NO WAY Rocky would ever wrestle again because he wouldn't want to take bumps and risk his Hollywood career. They were WRONG, as Rock was on RAW the night after Mania and challenged John Cena for a match at Wrestlemania 28.

The haters also claimed there would be NO WAY The Rock would wrestle before Wrestlemania because it would hurt the buyrate for Mania. Rock was on RAW before Survivor Series and then wrestled in a tag match at the Survivor Series PPV. Wrestlemania 28 ended up breaking records and received the highest PPV buyrate in WWE history, beating out Wrestlemania 23 which was the previous record holder.

Next up, the naysayers said The Rock wouldn't be on RAW that much before Wrestlemania because of his movie promotion commitments. WRONG again, as he appeared LIVE on RAW 5 times before Wrestlemania, as well as wrestling in the main event of Wrestlemania AND appearing live the next night on RAW.

After Rock cut the promo saying he wanted to be champion again, people said we wouldn't see him again until the following year. WRONG, as Rock appeared on RAW1000 and not only had a a verbal confrontation with CM Punk but got involved in the main event and then being attacked by Punk, who turned heel in the process.

The Rock is about to come back to build towards the Royal Rumble. In January alone, he's confirmed for 6 appearances which was the amount he made in 2012 for the Wrestlemania hype. He's all but confirmed for Elimination Chamber and the RAW the night after, and then its highly likely he'll be on most RAWs from there until Wrestlemania if he's the champion.

Do you know how many appearances in total Rock has made since 2011? 17 appearances so far. How many were via satellite? A grand total of 3. Yet, he constantly gets shit for only appearing via satellite. He's been in the ring 14 times live since he came back, all while juggling his ridiculously busy movie schedule. You'd think he'd get cut a little slack after giving us so much more than anyone thought he would. In it for the money? Yeah right. He's set for life, he doesn't need the chump change he gets from WWE.

Dat Great One proving them wrong 24/7 :Rock
We should be thankfull for Rock doing stuff in WWE while Rock financially even doesn't need it. Plus, Rock never sold out to pro wrestling whatsoever, on the contrary.

VERY well put, agreed 100%.

Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion

He would not of been gone for 7 years if the dumb cunts hadn't run down his contract in 2004 and had offered him a new one.

Instead they let it run down and never told him. Which he was quite annoyed at and was pissed at Vince for a few years and didn't speak to him until Vince got in touch about HOF 08.
