Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion

I'm mixed right now on what I want to see between Taker/Lesnar and Rock/Lesnar. Everything Starbuck said is true in regards to Rock not really being the fighter Taker and HHH are and in WWE land they are tougher than Rock, especially Taker at WM (he's the top in toughness on that night). So in addition to my thoughts in the past about not wanting to see Rock/Lesnar, Starbuck's points also make me care even less to see it.

However the only reason I wouldn't want to see Taker/Lesnar is if we get a similar to match as Lesnar/HHH. If Lesnar dominates at the incredibly boring pace using the same moves over and over again he did with HHH against Taker, I have NO interest in seeing that match. Wasn't a fan of Lesnar/HHH because of it, and while I'd naturally like Taker/Lesnar more just because it's Taker, it will still be a disappointment to me considering who's competing. I don't mind Lesnar dominating Taker, but I'd like him to keep the pace up and do more than a bodyslam and grabbing the arm over and over again, no matter how much sense it makes from a psychology standpoint.

Right now though I think I'd still like to see Taker/Lesnar more, but we'll see what comes from Lesnar at SVS. My ideal realistic card at WM right now would be:

Taker/Lesnar (Taker wins)
Rock/Cena II (Rock wins as a shocker since most would expect Cena to get the win)
Punk/HHH (would say Austin, but I think it's pretty much confirmed it's not happening) (Punk wins)

Then at WM30:
Austin/Punk WWE Title (Punk wins)
Taker/Rock (Taker wins)
Cena/Sheamus World Title (Sheamus wins)

I expect WM29 to be HHH's last match and WM30 to be Taker's last match. If WWE is serious about Sheamus being the next top face, he'll have to face and beat Cena at some point. WM30 would seem like a good point to do that.

As far as which match between Rock/Cena and Punk/HHH at WM is for the WWE Title, it doesn't really matter. Either one will sell themselves. On one hand if Rock/Cena is for the WWE Title, the title will see the main event spot again as opposed to if it was Punk/HHH. If Punk/HHH is for the title, it's going to be the third biggest match on the card again and probably won't main event. However, they won't have to do any vacating the title crap like they would if my idea went through with The Rock beating Cena.

Edit: LOL, FORGOT TAKER/CENA!

Um... hm... maybe Taker stays till WM31 and faces Cena then? Fuck, it's not fair! I want to see Taker/Lesnar, Taker/Rock, and Taker/Cena at WM but I also think if Taker should retire, WM30 is the perfect time... but then again how can you not have Taker/Cena at WM? lol, maybe Taker should go to 25-0... but fuck he'll be 50 by then, won't he?

Bah, guess if I had to take out/change one of those matches happening, it'd be Taker/Lesnar. So my revised cards:
WM29:
Taker/Cena (Taker wins)
Rock/Lesnar (Rock wins)
Punk/HHH (would say Austin, but I think it's pretty much confirmed it's not happening) (Punk wins)

Then at WM30:
Austin/Punk WWE Title (Punk wins)
Taker/Rock (Taker wins)
Cena/Sheamus World Title (Sheamus wins)

I'm watching you...

Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion

I'm done seeing Cena no sell everything Rocky does and I damn sure don't want to see Rock lay down for Cena, or even worse, tap out to his shitty STF.

I understand their options are limited here (especially since it seems they're adamant on Brock/Taker) but man I don't think I can stomach another Rock/Cena program.

Rock will elevate the WWE title?

Do you think that Rock holding the title (even its just for a month) will help elevate the importance of the belt?

I think it will. He doesn't have to bury a bunch of guys but the image of him winning the belt and walking out with it for a few week should be something special. Even if he does a couple large media appearances with the belt should really help.

Thoughts?

Re: Rock will elevate the WWE title?

He may elevate it for a bit. Hell, if nothing else, at least we know that if Rock has it and is putting it on the line against Cena, the WWE Championship will actually be defended in the main event of WrestleMania. However, after Cena defeats Rock and takes the title, the WWE Championship will go back to meaning absolutely nothing as Cena buries the entire roster defending it.

Re: Rock will elevate the WWE title?

He doesn't even have to hold it, just having him chase it brings prestige back to the title. Face it, until the last month Cena didn't even care about the belt being too busy main eventing non-title matches. Having both Cena and the Rock turn their attention to the belt once again makes it a focal point and the most important thing in the WWE. All their main event "dream matches" and dancing above the belt while ignoring it has only devalued the title, not Punk's reign. Also, having Punk come out of the entire Cena/Rock/Punk program as the champ is the first real opportunity (since the Night of Champions fiasco) to cement him as a top tier wrestler.

Re: Rock will elevate the WWE title?

He'll elevate it because it'll be in the main event once again... WWE doesn't care about the WWE Championship, it cares about John freaking Cena. Very sad.

Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion

He would definitely bring more attention to it, especially if he makes some media appearances with it, and whoever beats him for would gain a career defining win.

The argument that he's burying somebody is stupid. He won't be holding it long and The Rock being on a PPV automatically overshadows the champions so you might as well stick the title on him so it can get some spotlight.

Who is Johnny Curtis? Nobody...just the future of WWE!

Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion

I tend to agree with the people saying Taker is a better match for Lesnar than Rock the problem is Rock Cena Punk in any combination just won't work. CM Punk can only rehash the same material Cena had last year and Rock Cena has just been done to death at this point. The year long feud going over 2 Manias you just can't add the belt and expect it to draw for a 3rd straight Wrestlemania.

If WWE does Brock Taker, Rock Cena 2 or Rock Cena Punk they're going to leave alot of buys on the table. They're going to be selling you one of the most predictable Wrestlemanias of all time. Even a Cena heel turn wouldn't save it.
