I actually liked the Brock/Goldberg build-up. They teased it all the way from Survivor Series then they cost each other matches which led to them officially getting physical. Then Austin's involvement was the icing on the cake since he was the one with good mic skills to make it interesting. Plus some very memorable moments like Brock F5ing Austin on Raw (with JR going all "WHAT'S BROCK LESNAR DOING ON RAW????") and Brock also stealing Austin's ATV and taking it to Smackdown. Goldberg was pretty much absent for the build-up, though. Now if we talk about the match... it stunk but that's stating the obvious.

Either way, whatever happens, its only 2 or 3 episodes long of a feud, so I am going to guess it will be based on the WWE Title and respect. Not the crap Cena/Rock had earlier this year.

I think Punk being a heel would definitely be the good factor of this feud unlike Cena where WWE had to do an extreme amount of heart warming promos to boost his popularity.

These shoot style feuds and promos need to fuck off. Conveniently enough, they pretty much all involve Punk. Is this really all he has to bring to the table? I don't think so and his SES stuff proves that. For whatever reason however, he seems to think calling people Dwayne, Paul, Mike and Johnboy whilst bitching about shit that happens off camera makes for entertaining television. It did....once...because it was fresh and rooted in something genuine. Since MITB however, he has come off like a whiny brat every time he starts 'shooting' because all he does is yap about x, y, and z.

I'm excited as fuck about Rocky coming back and being in a title program again but I'm seriously not looking forward to this Punk feud at all. Dwayne this, Phil that. Your movies suck and you never wanted to be a wrestler blah blah. Trending worldwide Phil is Fruity. Whatever. If you can't build a feud within the realms of kayfabe then what's the fucking point in having it at all? There's a reason these guys play characters on TV and not themselves. Nobody wants to see Phil Brooks bitching because Dwayne Johnson took his spot. Nobody wants to see John Cena bitching because Dwayne Johnson left the WWE. Fuck that shit. You know, last year I posted many times about and even made a thread about whether Punk's character was sustainable in the kayfabe world of the WWE. Judging from basically all his feuds since then, I don't think it is because all he does or all they let him do is complain about shit we never physically see as fans. It's just stupid as shit.

Yeah, Punk has gotta be one of the most one-dimensional performers I've seen. Even before the 2011 summer, he constantly referred to Orton as "Randal" like it was so hilarious or something. Since then, this douchebag has started this trend of calling wrestlers by their real names and it's really annoying. I doubt Cena would constantly whine about "Dwayne Johnson" had Punk not constantly whined about "Dwaaaaaaaaaayne" on promos he had nothing to do with. And from the look of things, he's STILL doing it, as suggested by calling The Miz "Mike".

I'm scared that they might actually have him feud with Undertaker for WM and he'll actually call him "Mark".

Like the dude who I quoted said, if it's about respect, then maybe peeps can be a bit tolerant. Maybe Punk can bring up Rock being in the main event at mania 2011 and 2012 and it should have been Punk and he can then bitch. Like I said, Punk being a heel can probably make this feud a lot diff from Cena vs Rock and instead of it being a popularity contest, both stars can compliment each other.

To be honest, the more I think about it, the more I really could careless about what Rock and Punk call each other. They can call each other Dwayne, Phil, Dewey, Phillip, Rocky Maivia, BM Punk, whatever. As long as the feud doesn't become all about simple name calling and/or "I'm here ur not" or "_____ is trending on twitter", it doesn't matter to me what they call each other. The feud needs to follow a very basic formula to be successful. Rock wants the WWE Title for the 10th time and to complete his journey. Punk is the unstoppable champion and has been for 400+ days. Have Punk GTS/get the upper hand on Rock one more time before the RR and then at RR, have Rock claim the WWE Title. It's very basic, but it's all they need to sell the Pay Per View match (for those few it isn't sold for by The Rock simply wrestling). Throwing in little jabs here and there is fine, but at the end of the day the feud should be mostly about the WWE Championship, Rock's desire to win the title, and Punk's ambition to keep it and main event Wrestlemania.

Edit: Also, I really don't get why Punk haters constantly go back to the same two things over and over again when hating Punk. It's always "He's a ratings killer!" or "He calls people by their real names so he's a fucker!" I mean, I don't think I've seen more than one or two posts pointing out the fact he's been cutting virtually the same promo week after week for the last 4 months. I would've thought haters would've jumped on that months ago, but yet besides maybe an odd post here or there, it's barely been mentioned.
