That being said, I get that even in losing, Punk still gains from getting to wrestle The Rock and it will probably be the biggest match of his career. I don't get how he'll be ruined if he managed to beat The Rock though, or that it's somehow worse for Punk than losing to Rock. That's nutty to say. Jericho beating Rock/Austin didn't kill any part of his career. He wasn't not positioned as "the guy" because of that. It was how he was booked following that, specifically in the WM18 Stephanie/HHH feud because he was simply a lackey to Steph in that. That's why he was in the position he was in and that comes down to booking, not his big kayfabe victories.
Punk beating Rock (hypothetically of course... I'm certain it's not happening) would be wonderful for Punk's career... hell it would be the best thing that could happen for him right now bar ending Undertaker's WM streak. The only potential negatives and "career killers" would be the booking after that and unrelated to the big victory.

I respectfully strongly disagree my friend. In order for Punk to be legitimized he has to have a stead push towards Cenas spot or equal to his level much like Austin/Rock (clearly on a very very smaller scale) it would ruin his existence to get a win over the GOAT then turn around and still not headline over Cena.
Last summer Punk was the hottest thing post AE yet WWE intentionally botched his momentum to insure he never overshadows Cena/HHH which is deplorable. That proved beyond a showed of a doubt that WWE only cares about forcing there agenda on us then trying to make it good for business. Why ruin an opportunity to have 2 top top faces? WWE politics as usual. Its been stated many times Punk doesnt fit WWE mold of what they desire for a top guy, even though i dont like Punk he was the best thing going and far better than the alternative Cena.
It really comes down to this: Dwayne The Rock Johnson is the freakin GOAT he drew peak ratings/peak live attendance/peak buyrates/peak WM buyrates/and by far the biggest star in wrestling history at this point given his status in and outside WWE so he should get treated like royalty. He didnt have to take time out of his busy schedule to SAVE WM 27 which had the weakest main event in history and drew solely bc of Rock. Then he wanted to have the biggest match he could wit THE guy and with all of WWE resources/power/WWE machine they had to tell him the best they have is Cena smh, so he reduced himself to next to nothing out of the kindness of his heart and love for the business to LET Cena look good on the mic when he couldve easily buried his life at any given second.
Its amusing how some claim hes only back for the money? What money, Cena (highest paid guy) gets a lil over 2 mill base salary and a couple mill on top of that for merch/% of gates/ppv that is change to The Great One. Last year he was the 4th highest paid actor with 36 mill which is more than Cenas ENTIRE net worth (35 mill) so how on gods earth does that make any sense. Ppl claim hes only back to promote movies when hes clearly said many times he stayed away to assert himself in HWood and find success w/o having to use WWE and once he did that he was coming back. Its funny bc if he kept making appearnces over the years ppl would really just say he only comes back to promote movies, so either way they hate. Its all just jealousy bc not only was he 1 of 3 biggest stars/icons/draws ever by the age of 30 but then left to become far bigger than wrestling itself.
Sorry i got off topic there bro, couldnt help it
