- As noted Monday night, WWE announced to the live crowd on Raw in Lafayette, Louisiana that The Rock would appear when they return on February 18th. The announcement of the Rock's return was said to have gotten the biggest pop of the night. That episode of Raw falls the day after the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view from the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, LA. The Rock is also scheduled for the January 28th episode of Raw in Las Vegas, which is the night after the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

I said earlier that I hope that the crowd buying the tickets realize the rare attraction he's getting. Good to see that they're starting to get it.

That was pretty obvious. When your biggest star in history comes back genuinely just to have fun and help your business, you do everything you can to make him happy. Especially when aside from being the greatest performer you have ever had, he's also a bigger and more recognizable figure than your entire industry. The only thing wrong with this "report" is how they presented the title win situation, Rock never asked to end some year title run, the only reason Punk had a year title run is because of The Rock, no other reason. If Rock is not booking him for the Rumble, he's losing the belt months ago, especially with the almost all-time low ratings on 90% of the go-home shows, which is mostly a sign that Vince is going to change something at the PPV. In any other situation, Ryback is probably holding the belt for 2-3 months by now.

BTW, Rock316AE, I remember you saying they should've made a "ROCKY SUCKS" t-shirt in 97-98 because of how over Rock was. I think they did it for the angle. I don't remember any Rock shirt before the blue bull. Rock wore some t-shirts to RAW before, like the big R but nothing was official or available until around September-October 98. You can also see that Henry had the cut in the shirt, what Hogan did with his entrance all the time, for Rock to rip it after he turns heel. I have no doubt that a legit Rocky Sucks t-shirt would have been a HUGE seller back then even if Michael Hayes was the one doing the design lol. The crazy loud "ROCKY SUCKS" chants were something special because a lot of time it got a bigger reaction than the babyface pop, kinda like Vickie today when you read reports that her heat was bigger than the Orton/Cena/Sheamus pops. Although that obviously unlike Vickie's go away/no money heat, Rock's showed around that time that he's a nuclear bomb waiting for the right moment to explode. Amazing how every arena reacted in such intensity to a rookie who was in the public eye for less than a year. That's true greatness. There's also this awesome segment of Rock after Summerslam 1998 rightfully furious how the hell there are no Rock t-shirts available for the Millions to buy:
"Where's the deal? Where's The Rock's stuff? The Rock makes millions of dollars a year, he's got gold Rolex on his wrist and he doesn't have one t-shirt. He's got 53 dolls out, and no t-shirt" While also giving on the spot the idea for his future t-shirt.
Just watched some Rock/Farooq/Nation/Shamrock segments, forgot how awesome this program was. The slow transition with Rock and Farooq especially. With Rock always "accidentally" screwing him in a different way. The chair shot before WM14 and parking lot brawl was money. Rock and Shamrock is basically the definition of how you book a heel/babyface feud and put over both of them at the same time.
They need to do a NOD DVD.

Dwayne needs to win the WWE title, the Royal Rumble, the U.S and I.C Title during the build up to WM, and on the night work double duties, first beating the tag team champions in a handicap match to win those titles and finally the WHC at the main event, unifying them all into one Ultimate Championship of greatness...
...then Ziggler cashes in and makes him tap out to a sleeper hold in a 10 second squash match.
How would you like to see CM Punk/The Rock and John Cena saga unfold?
I personally would like to see The Rock beat CM Punk at Royal Rumble. The Rock to then hold the title for the next couple of months in order to create a buzz about the WWE and boost PPV sales, especially if he is walking around with the WWE title for 3 months on TV appearances promoting new films. This is a win win for all and kind of work with his part time schedule. It adds even more prestige to the title, which CM Punk has done an amazing job of doing already, and The Rock holding the title as well as Punks +year long run elevates the title back to where it needs to be and that main eventing Wrestlemania.
I dont usually like triple threat matches but in this instance I think it could really work and be a really interesting dynamic with Rock/Punk/Cena all going head to head for the WWE title and that only mean more $$$$ and more prestige for the title . I think the promos would be amazing between the three.
Then at the Wrestlemania I would like to see Punk win the title back and finally get his big wrestlemania moment main eventing Wrestlemania and winning the title the biggest thing you could possibly do in the WWE. Rock and Cena don't need the win as they have already achieved all of these things and The Rock will most probably be leaving after Wrestlemania.
Possibly Cena then retaining the title again at Summerslam.
This is what I would like to happen.
But it truth I think it could be The Rock Vs John Cena II for the WWE title (at this would get past their once in a lifetime stipulation as this time its with the title) Cena wins and regain the title after more than a year without it , possibly Punk winning it back at Summerslam. Before then dropping the title to someone new who has been working hard and deserves the title like Ziggler or knowing Vince Ryback.
If this is so then Punk would need a big match for Wrestlemania to ensure he doesn't get buried by the whole Rock Vs Cena match, and if thats the case the only big enough match you can give him is Punk Vs The Undertaker.
