if Rock loses to Punk I can't see WWE have him lose at another PPV, which makes me lean towards they'll do the Lesnar interference finish at the Royal Rumble

Ridiculous "report" for the simple fact that WWE had months of house shows headlined by Big Show vs Cena or Big Show/Ace vs Cena just THIS YEAR. No chance they're thinking about another Rock/Cena non-title(they have no reason to do it, kayfabe or business wise), let alone a Taker/Punk match which will look as comical as it sounds on paper. Rock is hyping his title win big, he's going over. He promised and hyped that you're going to see him WWE Champion again, that's the final payoff of this story which is why someone costing Rock the Rumble match and then Rock just moving on from his championship journey would look stupid. Rock is going over at Royal Rumble 100%. Only way he's not is if they do a DQ finish and then Lesnar wins the belt somewhere until WM, Rock/Brock for the belt with the final payoff of Rock holding the belt again at Mania instead of the Rumble. Then you have the possibility of Rock/Taker with Rock moving on from the belt to go after a bigger accomplishment that nobody had before in the streak. But Rock holding the title is 99.999% lock, in one way or another.
If it takes dodgy ref calls, DQ's, double pins, Maddox, Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns to beat Ryback and Cena, what in the fuck bullshit ending are they going to come up with to put Punk over Rock?
I know I said in the "Who should Punk drop the title to?" thread that The Rock is the only person he should drop it to, but I've changed my mind. The more I think about it, the more I love the idea of longest title reign in 25 years vs. the streak. I would prefer Punk to go over Rock and face Undertaker at Wrestlemania, then see Rock take on Lesnar which would be just as great. That's one hell of a card. One thing I absolutely do not want to see is Rock/Cena II.
Then when he's about to face Taker, you'd want Punk to win and keep the title a little longer. Then you say he should drop the title to this guy and when it comes to crunch time, you say Punk should hold it a little longer. Basically, you don't want him to ever lose the belt.
Just do the match the way it's been planned for months and months. Punk drops the tile to Rock. Who the fuck cares if the title isn't defended on house shows. Who seriously goes to house shows to see the title be defend? You know you aren't going to see it change you know nothing dramatic is going to happen with the title.
People don't go to WWE house shows to see the title be defended. They go to see John Cena.
Like Headliner says, just put Cena in the main event and all will be fine. Jeez. They think it's 1960 or 70 still.
I remember WCW in 96-98 when Hogan was champion, yet only wrestled a few house shows. And still they had their best house show business in history.
They still had Flair, Luger, Sting, Giant, Savage, Goldberg, Hall, Nash, DDP and Hart. And more importantly they used them at house shows. Most of them appeared at almost every house show. Hogan was the only exception, and even he wrestled a few times.
If WWE really cared about house show business, then they should not care whether or not the title is defended, they should care about giving fans the big names they wanna see, like WCW did.
WWE has just as much, if not more main eventers than WCW back in the day. But they make them appear on seperate shows or not appear at all (HHH, lesnar, Rock, Taker). That's how much WWE cares about house show business.

It's not a matter of the title not being defended at house shows, it's a matter of putting Punk over. Foley said he needed that big win, and he'll get it by beating Rock. Besides, everybody is saying Rock will win the title, and Vince hates knowing people can easily predict his product...well, for the most part. Then, at wrestlemania he should drop it to taker who then fights over it until wrestlemania 30 where he loses it and officially retires. Works out a lot better long term than cena/rock 2 and punk/whoever.
I'm so surprised that many people think the Undertakers streak will end. If they are going to do a Punk - Taker match then it should in no way involve the title. Plain and simple taker's streak will not end, and neither should he be champion. So if it were to be Punk-Taker then Punk must drop the title to Rock. Unless you want Taker's last match to be vs Punk, he wins the title then gives it up the next night and retires. That is the only way I can see a Punk Taker match that involves the title.
Rock should win the title. If he can make as many appearances on Raw as possible after that then it would be great, otherwise the satellite will just have to do. Fact tis that Rock as champion will make the fans happy, will make the ratings go up, and will bring in money. What really is the downfall from a business point of view? The fact that he won't be there live all the time and won't wrestle house shows. I don't know, but to me it seems that the pros outwiegh the cons.
One last thing. Do you think that Rock could continue even after WM?
- F4Wonline.com reports that The Rock is confirmed to be scheduled for the RAW in Las Vegas the night after the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
not really news (expected). The Rock in Sin City going to be crazy though. If he wins the title, wonder how he going to celebrate in the city that never sleeps
