Well Ryback certainly isn't my first choice, but it is the best chance they've got at creating a new big star, have him end a year and a half long title run at Wrestlemania after winning the rumble. Its definitely what I see happening though, I'm fairly sure that Ryback will run the rumble.

Those are good choices. Assuming Austin is able to wrestle, I would rather see Rock vs HHH vs Austin as the 5th match. That way it can be the last match for all three.

Update On Royal Rumble and Wrestlemani Scenarios - Punk vs Rock Idea
http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/wwe/..._The_Rock.html
Quote:
With CM Punk retaining the WWE Championship against Ryback and John Cena at Survivor Series on Sunday, thereby likely solidifying an expected match with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson at Royal Rumble, the sports-entertainment organization's creative team has discussed a scenario where The Straight Edge Superstar would defeat The Great One at the annual January pay-per-view event. This would subsequently lead to Punk defending the title against The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXIX, and Johnson facing Cena in a non-title re-match at the same event.
Original creative plans called for Johnson to defeat Punk at the Rumble, leading to a match against Cena for the title—which could still occur. Creative has given thought to how Johnson winning the WWE Championship would impact the product since there would be no titles defenses at houses shows for over two months, and also add a new issue of whether he would defend the title at the February pay-per-view event, Elimination Chamber. Not awarding Johnson would rectify this problem.
Though the importance of the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship has diminished in recent years, one of the primary reasons that creative has yet to unify the belts is because they feel a title match should close out all house shows.

If it takes dodgy ref calls, DQ's, double pins, Maddox, Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns to beat Ryback and Cena, what in the fuck bullshit ending are they going to come up with to put Punk over Rock?
Oh, the possibilities!!

Wouldn't work because Taker would need to Lose the title, I don't think he'd work another PPV.

They can even have him BORK Rock's arm to write him off TV until after the Chamber or whenever he returns for Mania.
And I lol at these "reports". So non-committal and generic. Punk is probably going to win that might change and Rock could win. What incredible insight.

That whole article sounds awful. In particular:

Raw house show problem: Just book John Cena in the main-event. Problem solved.
Elimination Chamber problem: You don't need a WWE title match. Just do a chamber match to determine the number 1 contender for the WWE title assuming the Royal Rumble winner already decides to challenge for the World title before the PPV.
These morons can't book themselves out of a library.

and he has one more match (most likely) with Ryback at TLC for the WWE Title. So before The Rock he has to get one more cheap win.

It will take the idea people have been throwing out there for months - Brock costs Rock the title and they have a special attraction grudge match at WrestleMania.
EDIT - basically what Green Light said.
I expect this creative idea to be an upcoming "report" in the near future.
