Snake thinks it was bad. So it must be good.

In a perfect world we should have both of course. And sometimes we get it, Canadian Stampede, Mania 17 and Summerslam 02 to name a few.
It was great in every aspect, you got a lot of big star power combinations along with a great main event and a brilliant storyline progressing throughout the entire PPV. Rock/Mankind, Rock/Shamrock, Austin/Mankind, Taker/Kane, Rock/Taker etc. Which resulted in the perfect payoff. You can't ask for more and this IMO, is the Shakespeare of wrestling. Russo also declared this program as his best work and the most enjoyable period for him as a TV writer.

I don't want to deny that the PPV lacked starpower or a story. The story leading up the the PPV was actually pretty good and the development during the PPV + that heel turn twist was top notch but, come on, you have to admit that the wrestling aspect of the PPV was just total trash.

The idea of Rock beating Cena again isn't out the question IMO, it would obviously lead to a 3rd and finale which Cena would win (Heel turn or Heel from the off) similar to how Rock/Austin series panned out.

It was a 14 matches card on a 3 hour PPV. So knowing that you can't really expect a 20 minute classic in every match, they delivered it big time with the Rock/Foley main event. Other than that they worked the tournament concept perfectly and had some good matches all over the card(Rock/Shamrock, Austin/Mankind and Rock/Taker for example), it's just that the story was so well done and a crucial part of the execution which is why it overshadowed everything. I watched this PPV a few months ago and the flow of this show is one of a kind.

What a fight Snake put up there.

Steen stealing moves from The Great One. He clearly didn't do it right, the guy kicked out.

In my mind it absolutely wasn't. Wrestling wise it was a horrible show.

Out of the 14 matches there was one good match in Foley vs Rock and two okay matches in Rock vs Shamrock and Austin vs Foley. The other 11 matches all sucked.

Even if we don't count the two matches that were under a minute, there wers still 9 bad matches on the card.

Aside from the match quality, there were some other things that bothered me on this show. First, Foley big mystery opponent. They made us believe it was some kind of big name. There were rumors of Bulldog or even HBK coming back to be the mystery man. And what did they give us, Dwayne Gill!

Then, they advertised the big Rock vs Triple H rematch from Summerslam which then didn't happen. As a huge DX fan, I for one was petty much pissed off.

Having said that, I still like the PPV for its entertainment value, the great story it told, and the overall good booking (except the two things I mentioned). But it was Rocks heel turn that really saved this PPV and made it memorable.
