If Triple H returns he's going to be in one of the big matches (I hope not with Lesnar), so maybe he faces Punk. So much can change in the early months of 2013 and we probably will not know what's going down for sure until the Raw after Elimination Chamber in February.

and @JY57 I think Sheamus would a perfect candidate for Punk. Slipped my mind that they had some recent history. I think Ziggles will be occupied Ryback/Big Show could be a possible lock.

Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion
I love Rock about a hundred times more than Ryback but..... Punk should probably drop the belt to Ryback. If this were a three month reign than I wouldn't mind, but they've given him such a long reign that whoever ends it would become huge. Rock ending it doesn't do much for either WWE or Rock himself. Rock is already a mega star that can't get much brighter. It would be like HHH ending the streak this year, HHH is already a legend and him winning would do nothing but end the streak. A) He can't get much more over B) HHH is not your future. Same thing here, Rock is not going to be there in 5 years. Ryback is. Again I don't even really like Ryback but if he's supposed to be the future it would get him over huge. Its like Hogan beating Michaels at Mania 14 instead of Austin(Not that Ryback is that big a star) So two scenarios they can do:
A) That Retcon they did on Raw was a really dumb move. Both scenarios I'm doing go under the assumption that the SS main event wasn't changed. WWE has no foresight anymore, no matches between there biggest guys anymore feel big other than there sometimes guys (Lesnar, HHH, Rock). So instead do the SS Tag and have Ryback win last eliminating Punk. Meanwhile, have Cena face Ziggler (like he was going to) and have him lose (not just being a mark, bear with me). At TLC, have Ryback beat Punk for the belt and Cena lose a ladder match to Ziggler for the WHC. At RR have Ryback GO OVER Rock. Rock losing doesn't hurt him and would help Ryback big time. Have a frustrated (perhaps heel or quasi-heel?) John Cena win the Rumble. Now at Mania you have a huge WWE Title match between WWE's top two guys in Cena and Ryback. *gasp* a Mania main event between two WWE Full timers that... Matters?! You can have Cena be frustrated that Ryback seems to be the guy and have Ryback lay claim to being able to beat Cena's two biggest rivals (Punk and Rock) when Cena couldn't. Along the way you establish Ziggler as a credible World Champion (*double gasp* a credible MITB champion?!?!) and you can still have Rock/Punk at Wrestlemania.
B) Have Punk hold onto the belt until Mania. Have Ryback beat him there so them you can say he did what Del Rio, Miz, Ziggler, Jericho, Bryan, Kane, Cena, and even Rock couldn't do... end Punk's reign as Champion. You can also have Rock/Cena II.

Can't even argue. If someone new was to go over Rock at MANIA it would be big too, but WWE most likely won't build on that and would rather give us a Cena vs Rock 2 for the title part 2, maybe. Like you're trying to point out, it's time to start making some over the top star power again.

The People's Era is JUST beginning..get READY..it's not what you think.
Quote:
PWInsider.com is reporting The Rock is expected to be a major focus in WWE at the start of 2013.
Many are expecting him to hold the WWE title after beating CM Punk for it and breaking his title run streak. The report goes on to say many in WWE are expecting the Hollywood star to have the most regular/frequent schedule of booking in appearances in WWE in a long time.

Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion
^Well if that's true, then awesome!
Also I'd one million times take Punk dropping the title to Ryback over dropping the title to Sheamus at Mania. Sheamus as the main champion on the top brand would be what does it for me watching WWE weekly unless he gets better on the mic and creative makes some attempt to make his character interesting and not an Irish-John Cena clone. And while Ryback may not have mic skills (that we've seen anyway), his character of just being a complete destroyer is so refreshing from the Cena-esque face characters... though I could unfortunately see them turning Ryback more kid-friendly if he wins the title (hopefully I'm wrong).
But eh, Rock will probably win the title and drop it to Cena, so it doesn't matter anyway. If Rock's being there every week, combined with Lesnar being there every week, not to mention maybe Undertaker popping in to feud with someone and the small chance of Austin coming to feud with Punk... damn Raw would be the most loaded with starpower it's been in years. Can't wait...

Obis, what the hell? Did you not see his promo after beating JTG? It was a promo Rock would of been proud of.
I can feel it. In the years to come we'll look back on Rybacks promos and all mark the fuck out...
Anyway, back to Rock. I've said it before and I'll say it again.
Rock always proves his ney-sayers wrong each and everytime. When he came back people said he'd do WM 27 and then we'll never see him again. What happens? The next night he agrees to face Cena at WM 28. Then people say we wont see Rock again until a few weeks until WM 28. What happens? He shows up again a month later. People say we wont see him until a few weeks until WM 28. What happens? He agrees to wrestle at SVS. Then shows up to RAW 6 times up to WM 28 and the night after. Then says he wants the WWE title. People said we wont see him until WM 29 or a few weeks leading up to WM. Then what happens? He agrees to wrestle at RR against Punk.
He's proved them wrong every time. I wouldn't be shocked if Rock was 100% with WWE when he get's the title until WM.
