Sitterson: Were you a fan of The Rock?

Punk: I was never a huge Rock guy. He came in and I think my opinion of him was this guy is bland and boring. It’s a credit to him for reinventing himself right on the verge of him maybe being fired, but I just never gravitated towards his character. That doesn’t mean it was a bad character, I was just more of a straightforward guy. I liked Stone Cold Steve Austin more than the Rock.

Sitterson: Is there one key difference that you see between the Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin that puts you in one camp as opposed to the other?

Punk: Stone Cold being Stone Cold – that is who that guy is. He is a redneck from Texas who likes to drink beer and beat people up. The Rock is Dwayne Johnson dialed up a level. It’s Dwayne Johnson trying really hard… Do you know what I mean? To me it’s just a difference of somebody being themselves as opposed to somebody playing a character.

I kinda agree WITH pUNK. Rock is this guy who will come out and put on entertaining promos and shit, but i honestly don't care that much about him anymore He had a 7 year absense and he finally became the guy who made Cena look bad, which made his return really big. Otherwise Steve Austin is much better IMO. Austin has this presence about him, as Punk said, this redneck from Texas who likes to drink beer and beat people up, he can make for an interesting feud with almost anyone in WWE right now, Whereas The Rock, a promotional hit but really all i think of when i hear of his return is 'He's gonna come out, ditch some people, give us some catchphrases and laughs, and leave, it doesn't sound that special anymore.

Anybody think Cena will cost The Rock the match against Punk? Then we get Rock vs Cena 2 at WrestleMania and Cm Punk vs Sheamus? for WWE Title.

No way i see rock not being in the main event. it will be hard follow especially if rock wins the wwe tittle people will be worn out. Unless rock is a surprise entrant in the rumble it self but i don't see it happening. rock/punk going to blow rock/cena out of the water.

Not likely. A Cena Rock rematch needs the belt.

Punk was talking about Rocky Maivia for the most part which in a way he is right about. Not too many people were fond of him and thought he was boring. He is an Austin mark so no surprise about how he feels about him there. Though at the end of the day Austin was still a character. Downplaying Rock for playing one would be the same as downplaying Taker as well. These are all characters, so Punk is a bit silly there. But your bolded part can apply to Austin too. "Comes out, says his catchphrases, beats someone up, drinks beer" Wash rinse repeat. How you didn't acknowledge or see that that is beyond me. Might be because you havent seen Austin in a while and he is more missed at the moment or something. Still Rock/Austin are great and entertaining and people eat it up every time.

Also, if WWE put Austin in that same bs and silly situation they had Rock in with Cena this year, I dont think Austin would have made it interesting either. Cena calling Austin Steven, smiling in his face and so on. Would have turned out just the same.
