Perhaps the parade was premature. Perhaps the celebrating, the humble tweets to The People and the legions of Team Bring It, and the proclamation that FINALLY, The Rock was WWE Champion once again jumped the gun by just a bit. Maybe, just maybe, The Rock put the horse before the cart when he celebrated his latest triumph on Raw Roulette, because CM Punk is not done with The Great One by a long shot.

How could he be, either? When a Superstar holds the WWE Title — Punk’s “life’s work,” in his own words — for 434 days spread across three calendar years, he does not just simply throw up his hands and call it a good run when the prize is taken from his clutches. So it was of no surprise when, during The Rock’s celebratory address to the WWE Universe as its new champion, The Straight Edge Superstar himself declared would be evoking his rematch clause – “granting” Rock a rematch was how he earned it – at Elimination Chamber. It was also of no surprise that The Rock gladly accepted.

But once again, maybe Rock is counting his proverbial chickens too early, because for all CM Punk’s feverish boasting in his final days as champion, he was right about one thing after the Royal Rumble: Hedidpin The Rock. It was one-two-three in the middle of the ring, although it took a sneak attack by who we can only assume was The Shield to weaken The Brahma Bull enough for Punk to make the pin. And it was only after Mr. McMahon restarted the bout that The Great One found enough of a second wind to silence CM Punk and put The Straight Edge Superstar to sleep, claiming his eighth WWE Championship in the process.

So at Elimination Chamber, the most brutal pit stop on The Road to WrestleMania, The Rock will face his own personal demon yet again. And The People’s Champion will have to be very, very careful, because CM Punk does not make the same mistake twice, and he is very, very angry. The very real opinion exists — depending whom you ask — that Punk should still be WWE Champion. And with it, the very real possibility exists — should The Rock think one victory equals winning the war — that The Brahma Bull’s parade could end as soon as it began and that CM Punk will be champion again, with history in his hands for the third time.

Over 100 years of Heavyweight Champions.

3 generations in my blood.

New WWE Champion.

My honor. TEAM BRING IT.

wwe.com said:
Attitude Era original Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will compete in his first World Title match in more than a decade when he challenges WWE Champion CM Punk, the longest-reigning WWE Title holder of the past quarter-century, at Royal Rumble on Jan. 27.

The WWE Universe has anxiously awaited The Great One’s return to the WWE Title picture since he announced his championship opportunity on Raw 1,000 last July. Though there was no guarantee at the time whom The Rock’s opponent would be, the always-confident Punk fired an opening salvo that night, cutting down The Rock with a clothesline before knocking him out with a picture-perfect Go to Sleep. The following week, The Voice of the Voiceless defended his actions by suggesting The Great One, having been “gifted” a WWE Title match, viewed victory at the Royal Rumble as a foregone conclusion.

Whether a real or perceived slight, the implication that The Rock places himself on a higher plane than the current WWE Champion was seemingly all the motivation Punk needed to make sure he would still have the title on Jan. 27.

In the half-year since Raw 1,000, The Second City Saint stunned WWE fans by aligning with Paul Heyman and ratcheting up the vitriol of his speech. More important than either of those details, he has — by hook or by crook — maintained possession of the championship gold. Having turned back challenges by John Cena and Ryback in recent months, The Best in the World now looks ahead to testing himself against the seven-time former WWE Champion who vowed in 2012 to regain the title.

For The Rock, an A-list Hollywood action star and third-generation Superstar who has sports-entertainment coursing through his veins, the Royal Rumble title match represents the start of a potential career renaissance inside the ring. Since March 2004, The Most Electrifying Man in All of Entertainment has competed in only two sanctioned WWE matches, teaming with John Cena to shred The Awesome Truth (The Miz & R-Truth) at Survivor Series 2011 and overcoming the Cenation leader at WrestleMania XXVIII.

But by vying for the most treasured prize in sports-entertainment, The Rock is committing to more than another appearance as a “special attraction.” Rather, he is setting his eyes on again becoming WWE’s gold standard.

Hell-bent though The Rock may be on introducing a new generation of WWE fans to The People’s Champion, there is no discounting Punk’s deftness once the bell rings. Controversial endings to several high-profile title defenses may have tarnished The Second City Saint’s reputation in the eyes of some critics, but they have done nothing to change the fact the WWE Championship still sits around his waist. Before his seedier side came into focus in late summer, Punk spent much of 2012 disposing of WWE’s best and brightest, ranging from Chris Jericho and Daniel Bryan to Dolph Ziggler and Kane. How will the WWE Champion match up against one of the pillars of The Attitude Era?

As the WWE Universe excitedly counts down the days until Jan. 27, the back-and-forth between two of WWE’s most compelling talkers is bound to pick up steam. It will not be until the Royal Rumble, however, that the trash talk gives way to the gravity of a game-changing WWE Championship bout, the likes of which hasn’t seen in years. Will Royal Rumble mark the rebirth of a championship Brahma Bull, or will it only underscore what Punk has claimed all along, that he is untouchable and in a class by himself?
The Rock explains why he wants WWE Title

WWE part-time star The Rock revealed why re-capturing the WWE Title is important to him in a new interview with WWE Magazine. It's a statement that has been missing from WWE television leading up to the Royal Rumble PPV.

"It starts with recognizing what the WWE Championship represents to me," Rock said in the February 2013 issue. "Every time I hold that title over my head in victory, it not only signifies the fact that I have delivered the absolute best entertainment that I could to the WWE Universe, but that I'm taking a moment to live an experience that all the generations of wrestlers in my family strived to achieve.

Rock continued, "There is no other award that I could receive that's as deeply ingrained in my blood and history as the WWE Championship - and that's why it means so much to me."

At the same time, Rock said that after his first WWE Title reign - which came in 1998 - he decided that he would never allow his possession of or lack of the WWE Title define his career.

"After my first WWE Championship run came to an end, I made a conscious decision that night that I would work harder than any other Superstar in the locker room to become the type of WWE entertainer who, if I never had another championship run again, it would not define my career. I never wanted to rely on a title run for success."

Rock's next statement reflects his recent approach to mixing "entertainment" with "seriousness." Rock concluded, "My goal was to get to a place where I relied only on what I could bring to the table in terms of being entertaining and having a one-of-a-kind - and electrifying - connection with all of the WWE Universe."

[ FYI: Rock's interview is part of a cover-feature on Rock in the latest WWE Magazine. ]

Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion

Starbuck is right.

As I said a couple pages back, even if Rock were willing to go all out and return to his asshole Corporate Rock self who's willing to mercilessly bludgeon a guy with a chair for fifteen minutes like 13-1/2 years ago, neither WWE nor he will want him to go there. He's the ultimate special attraction, the ultimate celebrity, quite plainly, who bridges the worlds of pro wrestling and Hollywood. He's as much the personification of the impact on pop culture pro wrestling strongly helped to make as anyone who's ever existed, and now he's the boomerang megastar whose pop culture accolades are being brought back to WWE to cross-pollinate.

He's not going to go heel the way Cena almost undoubtedly one day will. He's not going to be around to make a heel turn work. Furthermore, turning him heel would be a public relations snafu. He's the perfect ambassador to the entertainment world for WWE at this stage. He's too great a legend to be turned, and discounting that point, he's simply not well-suited to some kind of brawl with The Undertaker.

Rock's Rock Bottom or People's Elbow against Undertaker following the last four Wrestlemanias? No. That's just insulting the viewers' intelligence. Even with Cena, it was largely the element of surprise following Cena's act of hubris that was his undoing. It was the perfect booking for that finish because the Rock Bottom would, you would think, be utilized to knock someone's wind out of them as much as anything else. As such, it was the perfect finisher to catch the self-distracted Cena off guard and with which to get the one, two, three pin.

A Streak match with Undertaker will be entirely different. It's obvious, based on where they have gone with him recently, that Lesnar is the ideal opponent. In short, WWE needs someone in there who will be a threat to Undertaker. For a combination of factors, Rock isn't that guy. He can cut all the promos he wants to about ripping out guys' throats. Lesnar acts like he would have no remorse about doing just that when he's in the middle of a fight.

And let's also be perfectly frank about Rock/Cena as a match. It was good. But it was also a spectacle match, not a match that was intended to blow you away with verisimilitude. When Rock locked in the Sharpshooter and Cena locked in the STF, no one seriously believed anyone was going to tap out. It wasn't like Undertaker snatching Triple H into Hell's Gate at Wrestlemania XXVII or Wrestlemania XXVIII. The Sharpshooter and STF spots were intended to depict the Greek gods' respective strength and endurance. It was meta, as meta and as symbolic as Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan pushing each other down to the mat out of a couple of lock-ups. Which Rock/Cena even emulated at its beginning. That was the kind of match it was. And that is what Rock will, in his present constitution, be best at delivering. I'm sure there will be a spot in any Rock/Punk match in which Punk narrowly survives the Sharpshooter and Rock just barely holds on against the Anaconda Vice.

When Taker latched onto Triple H at Wrestlemanias XXVII and XXVIII, it wasn't atmospheric, and it certainly wasn't done so that both men would look great. It was done with ferocity, to create a genuine sense that one man was on the verge of going unconscious from the pain and pressure applied by a man who was simultaneously wearing himself out, finishing off whatever strength he still possessed, in endeavoring to vanquish his opponent.

WWE has the perfect man to bring that sense of gritty realism to the Streak right now in Brock Lesnar. It's a no-brainer, and everything they've done with making it evident that Lesnar > Triple H, Lesnar's interactions with Triple H and Shawn Michaels, signposts that Lesnar/Undertaker is on deck.

As for Cena, he's 35 years old and is still the standard-bearer of the product, whatever our feelings for him. You have to look at these men at where they are in life, where they are in their careers. Rock a dozen, even six or seven years ago might have easily been capable of delivering the kind of match against Undertaker at Wrestlemania that would conceivably fit alongside the running episodic narrative WWE's delivered on with the Streak these past 3-1/2 years, but he's no longer fit for that role. There's many things you can do with him but building him up as a sadistic monster or realistic fighter (again, Michaels wrestled Undertaker but that was then--the Streak narrative has pushed forward quite dramatically since) against The Undertaker for the Streak is not one of them.

Then there's the point I first brought up which is that, a few hilarious promos from Rock aside, these two guys never really did have much in the way of chemistry in or out of the ring. You can say that Lesnar/Undertaker inside the Hell in a Cell ten years ago wasn't exactly some kind of fabulous wrestling match, but that sense of dread and almost downright horror it engendered is almost perfectly ideal for the Streak at this point.

Cena can either turn heel before facing Undertaker or slowly find himself turning in the match itself or a dozen different variations of the storyline. Many fans of this era have seen Cena fight through the Elimination Chamber, they've seen him battle the monsters like Umaga, they've seen him tortured by a psychopathic Randy Orton and still survive without quitting. Cena is still a reasonably pliable entity. He can wrestle the spectacle match with The Rock or you can send him into the lion's den against Brock Lesnar and watch as his head is caved in like a watermelon.

Cena can choke a man out with a ring rope, and even in the post-PG time period he's been allowed to knock a man in the head with a chain to turn the tables. As silly as it sort of was, he was permitted to wrap duct tape around Batista's ankles to win a Last Man Standing match. I can't see Rock being given the kind of latitude Cena is permitted, because, for one thing, Rock is the special attraction. As little character development as Cena's had since Extreme Rules, it was the character development he had at his back that drove him to use the chain against Lesnar. The audience is conditioned to seeing Cena placed in dramatic situations in a continuous manner. Thus his defeating The Big Show with a bunch of friendly babyfaces at No Way Out is okayed. Rock doesn't have that luxury. He doesn't work B pay-per-views or have filler feuds. It's just two entirely different cases.

Some of Rock's part from the Rock/Cena DVD, Rock backstage in Boston, hugging HHH, Big Show, Pat with The Millions chanting his name in the background:

Full details on Rock's new TV show:
The Hero

TNT GREENLIGHTS “THE HERO,” NEW COMPETITION SERIES HEADLINED BY DWAYNE “THE ROCK” JOHNSON

High-Impact Series Showcasing Ordinary People in Extraordinary Situations, With Viewers Casting Votes for the Ultimate Hero

The Hero to Utilize Social Media Like Never Before in a Competition Series

TNT has given the greenlight to The Hero (working title), a new reality-competition series that will set out to find the next great hero. TNT has ordered eight episodes of the series from Ben Silverman‘s multimedia entertainment studio Electus and its 5×5 Media exclusive producers. The Hero will be headlined by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who will executive-produce with his producing partner, Dany Garcia. The series is set to premiere on TNT in summer 2013.

The Hero will bring 10 ordinary people together in a house and then assign them various missions that will test their brains, their brawn and even their morality. The show will challenge the competitors to prove they’ve got what it takes to be heroes, pushing them to the limits to see what they are willing (and able) to overcome, undergo or sacrifice for the sake of their fellow contestants. Johnson will serve as The Hero‘s mentor and motivator, encouraging the contestants to reach far beyond their personal limits. In the end, one player will rise above the others, overcoming obstacles he/she never thought possible in order to become a true hero.

In a unique twist on the reality-competition format, The Hero will incorporate social media into every facet of the show, from pre-production and casting to on-location shooting and live broadcasts. Through the show’s interactive digital platform, viewers will be able to vote each week for the contestant they consider to be the most heroic. The series will also leverage the power of Johnson’s enormous social-media following, which includes more than 10 million fans through Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

“Dany and I couldn’t be more excited to enter into our first official foray in TV production,” said Dwayne Johnson. “The Hero speaks to everything I believe in when it comes to challenging ourselves, to becoming better people every day and to making the right choices while growing from the wrong ones. Bridging the digital and physical world on the small screen in a way that’s never been done before will enable fans to use social media and on-screen decision making to determine the fate of the show’s contestants, and our goal is to make each TV moment impactful and exciting.”

“The Hero is a great fit for TNT’s drama fans, whether they enjoy stories with a lot of action, suspense and danger, or stories that offer inspiration through the heroic actions of everyday people,” said Michael Wright, President, Head of Programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “We’re also very excited about the extensive social-media aspect of The Hero, which will engage viewers on an entirely new level and develop a strong emotional investment in the competitors and challenges.”

“The Rock is the embodiment of The Hero and an inspirational superstar with an unwavering moral compass,” said Ben Silverman, Founder and Chairman of Electus. “The Hero will deliver on his brand as an incredible action-filled series that test the limits of real people in extraordinary circumstances while also activating the Rock and Turner’s audience with seamless digital and social media tie-ins. TNT is the ideal platform partner, with incredible characters and heroes from the worlds of fiction and sports, as well as a unique capacity to deliver an enthusiastic audience of drama fans.”

Johnson has become a worldwide entertainment brand with a multi-hyphenate global reach as a successful actor, sports entertainer, social media maven, film and now, television producer.
Johnson’s upcoming film credits include G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Pain & Gain, Empire State and The Fast and The Furious 6, with past credits including Journey 2: Mysterious Island, Fast Five, The Other Guys, The Game Plan, Gridiron Gang, Walking Tall and The Rundown. Johnson’s television credits include guest appearances on Family Guy and Saturday Night Live, plus regular appearances on WWE Monday Night Raw. Johnson is represented by WME Entertainment.

As a celebrity influencer, Johnson has established unparalleled social-media engagement with more than 10 million fans worldwide to date across the Facebook, Twitter and YouTube platforms. He holds an unprecedented 38% re-tweet rate and has a consistently expanding fan base that averages more than 8,000 new followers/fans per day on both Twitter and Facebook. At last year’s 5th Annual Mashable Awards, Johnson won as a “Must-Follow Actor or Actress on Social Media.” Additionally, over the past month alone, Johnson’s Facebook posts have received more than a quarter million “likes,” reaching upwards of 5 million fans with a single photo and message.

The Hero was created by Craig Armstrong and Rick Ringbakk of the Emmy®-winning 5×5 Media (Survivor, Fashion Star, TBS’s upcoming King of the Nerds), along with Charles Wachter (Fashion Star, Food Revolution) and Electus’ Ben Silverman (Fashion Star, The Biggest Loser, The Office). The series is executive-produced by Electus (Ben Silverman, Chris Grant and Jimmy Fox); 5×5 Media (part of the Electus studio system led by Craig Armstrong and Rick Ringbakk); Charles Wachter; Dwayne Johnson; and Dany Garcia. Electus International, Electus’ global distribution arm, will retain all international distribution rights.

Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion

Awesome documentary of Rock/Cena, besides the typical Cena/charity case brainwashing, "I'm here and will never leave"(In reality because nobody wants him anywhere else)and some stupid things from HHH and Cena saying that you can't change his "haters'" mind no matter what, yet STILL trying desperately to do it in every opportunity. It was honest in terms of telling how it really was in reality, with Cena as a last choice option etc. They did a great job presenting how big it was, Rock's goal as the greatest and most charismatic performer of all time to create the biggest match of all time, battle of two generations in physical prime and also the background around it. I loved the backstage footage, Rock/Jericho before the match, Rock/Show, even Rock/Del Rio there IIRC when Del Rio came to shake his hand in his locker room. Jericho was great as usual during it. They talked about Twitter was a big part in keeping the story alive without getting stale in 365 days, it was a major aspect of the interest for an entire year. The hype they did before the match backstage as a career defining W was good, that was the biggest match you're going to get in this era of the wrestling industry and it delivered big time. Cena said that Rock's ovation in his entrance was the biggest he ever saw in his entire career. Then Rock saying that when he dropped the final Rock Bottom and got the 3 count, it was 78k CANNONS exploding in insanity, just crazy atmosphere and a moment that will live forever. The last part of Rock/Cena hugging Vince and Rock getting a standing ovation backstage from all the workers after the match was cool, also got a Rock/Tyson interaction there. Overall, really good summary of the biggest, most memorable and most successful feud of this generation and it should stay that way with no rematches or an attempt to recreate the magic of the first time because it's NEVER happening, the legacy and significance of this program is unforgettable as it is.

Second part was the actual feud, all the promos despite some pathetically hypocritical material were good to great to awesome to MONEY. Top 5 will be Rock's return, Rock Concert, Rock/Cena before WM28, Rock history lessons and Rock/Cena/Miz/Truth segment in Boston. Two promos that are in the Top 5 but for some reason weren't on the DVD were Rock at Survivor Series 2011 and Rock in Philly. Don't know why. Rock YouTube annihilation also should have been there but I guess that's too much for the Cena character to handle without looking like a fool.

Matches - Rock316AE system. Rock - *, Cena - 1/2:

The Rock/John Cena vs The Miz/R-Truth Survivor Series 2011 - Such a special atmosphere for a moment that millions upon MILLIONS...Of fans worldwide waited to see for so many years, to the point where you thought it's never going to happen. Seeing Rock walking to the ring that night with New York City giving him one of the biggest ovations in the history of MSG was surreal. Like Jerry Lawler said: "If this doesn't put chills up and down your spine something is wrong with you". Then the match started and it was even more than that, Rock out there outperforming the entire active roster after 8 years was crazy, his timing, selling, athleticism, still the great worker that he is and it was all in place with the hottest crowd of the year starting chant after chant and into every move, great match overall with Rock and Cena trading shots and building for the Rock comeback to end the match. The humiliation Rock along with MSG gave Cena after that was nice as well.

:rocky :rocky :rocky :cena

The Rock vs John Cena WrestleMania 28 - That was the definition of what a big time wrestling main event should be. In terms of an atmosphere, anticipation, star power and the in ring exchanges. Exactly what this match should be when people dreamed about this dream match since 2005. Full of believable nearfalls, full of drama, huge promotion, star power, mega hot crowd, memorable spots and perfect finish. Great in every way and this is what this industry is all about. Watching Rock, not only after almost a decade killing it in the ring for 30 minutes, but with a torn hamstring for half of the match putting on a tremendous performance was unbelievable. All that along with Oscar selling for the ribs and the STF spot. The finish was one of the greatest moments of all time and like Rock said, was like a stadium full of cannons just going fucking crazy like never before, hugging, jumping, throwing beer, that's a rare situation you will be lucky to see again. This match delivered after a year of hype and gave fans exactly what they wanted for over 7 years. One of the best WM main events of all time.

:rocky :rocky :rocky :rocky :cena

Best of the extras was Rock telling his inspiring story before the success and singing for his grandmother and grandfather on their grave. I will watch the other part of extras and film cut in a few hours.

Overall, great DVD, if you liked the program this is one of the best, if you didn't like the program, you will like it after watching this. Worth watching either way on one of the greatest feuds of all time.

Still need an in depth, second by second breakdown of what happened at Rock316AE's house in the closing segment of RAW 1000. My bro was :mark: out at the old school AE ROCK/SHOW exchange and then, all of a sudden......

Followed by
to everyone at his house.
Nah bro, too busy marking out for that old school GOAT Rock selling :rocky But that Rock/Show exchange was great. Showed there how much Rock loves the environment when he got that crazy adrenaline rush after the epic spinebuster on Show.

As for Rock's $800 shirts, here's the pic with Bar Paly:

Most of them he gave to Jerry Lawler, he wore them to RAW a lot from 2003-2008.

Re: The Rock shooting a movie next March

I would have zero problem whatsoever with The Rock winning the title then not appearing on every Raw until the Wrestlemania build like earlier this year.

I see no negative difference between that and the fact that nothing's happened with the WWE title for an entire year now. I can only see it as a positive because it's The Rock and it's something different.

I mean, holy shit~ the belt won't appear on the show this week~ Who gives a shit? The belt has been meaningless for months. The WWE title has become a footnote. It needs to have it's prestige restored imo. The Rock can begin the process by taking it away from CM Punk the losing it to someone.

Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion

This news about Rock showing up after the Rumble, it just further confirms that he has a role post rumble and chances of him sticking around get higher. It was just like earlier this year. Everyone going on and on about Rock not showing up weekly for the final Mania build, and slowly more and more of his dates came to light, and turns out the guy was on every single week when he returned, live( for all you old via satellite jokers out there). Including Mania and the night after. This is no different.

Feels good to see so many people doubt Rock and he proves them wrong. First people said he was only going to host not wrestle then leave again for 7 years, then people said well hes only doing one match then hes gone, he does a tag match and people said well after Mania hes gone, people said he wouldnt show up live for the final build to Mania, and he did. People said he was gone and yet he still has more involvement to come. The Rumble and Mania 29. It s like people just want to do everything they can to justify in their minds that Rock wont be there.

Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion

Two things:

1) I'm sure someone else has put this out there (probably many, I don't read THAT much on here), but is it completely out of reach to think that The Shield is working for The Rock? That they are his stable? He's a huge, huge fan favorite...but, with Cena in place, and possibly a WM29 rematch in the works, why not turn Rocky heel? He would be able to do it better than anyone in the WWE right now, and heel Rock was great.

It would definitely be unexpected, at least. A heel Rock would immediately change the belt design, throw Cena under the bus, and criticize the fans for calling him a sellout for the longest time, then kissing his ass when he returned. He could say that Vince didn't want to promote his movies, and didn't want to give him enough money for all the years he was away...but made money off Smackdown, which ripped its name off The Rock's phrase. He can go after current stars for trying to duplicate his People's Elbow (Cena's fist drop, Sandow's elbow, Kofi's boom drop), even confront Booker on Smackdown for using the Rock Bottom as a finisher. He could go as far as saying that the current product is horrible (much like Jericho did when he made his debut in front of Rocky), and that he will defend his title when he wants, against who he wants, because he has earned that right.

I mean, I'm almost certain Vince would never go that far with him, but it would be interesting, to say the least.

2) If The Rock does win the WWE Championship, and we rarely see him on television, it could give new life to the World Heavyweight Championship. That way, if Cena somehow wins it (not my choice, just makes sense if Cena is due to beat Rocky at WM), a unification match could happen at WM29. Or, if no unification, Punk can take part in that race, and help bring back value to the WHC title.

---------------

The Rock holding the WWE title isn't out of the question, all because of his limited appearances. If anything, that could be used as an advantage.

Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion

I actually like the whole Hollywood idea of Rock kidnapping the belt and taking it back to hollywood, he could take it on talkshows and talk smack about Cena & the WWE on the RTWM.
This idea is fucking genius.

I don't see what people thought was going to happen for the build up, we knew Rock was going to be on 2-3 RAWs months ago, only thing is I thought he was going to return at the 20 years special instead of the week before. No idea why he's not booked for this show if they want to make it big, 20 years should be a bigger deal than 1000 episodes IMO.

But anyway, Rock's first appearance should be talking about what happened and hyping the Rumble, then in the main event segment giving Punk a Rock Bottom to get the GTS out of the way. Then in 2 weeks you can have a final promo between them with Rock selling how much the title means to him and after 10 years he has a chance to win it again. Kinda like he did before WM28 when he said that for 8 years the first question people asked him was when he is coming back.

A cool spot can be Rock doing a random run-in in his first appearance, something like that:

1:00

"Stronger than a Bear. Faster than a Buck" - Legit :Rock
Notice how quick and agile he is here? Hope he gets back to that. He was far too slow/bulky against Cena.

Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion

I doubt that WWE will make Punk/Rock go down the "Im here and your not" route. Mainly because:
1)Punk I believe is more quick thinking and sharper on the mic than Cena(in responses to stuff others say in promos, Punk is a cheeky prick really).

2)Punk is a heel and is far less protected image wise than Cena(the top face).

3)Punk doesn't give a shit any more.

Either way, whatever happens, its only 2 or 3 episodes long of a feud, so I am going to guess it will be based on the WWE Title and respect. Not the crap Cena/Rock had earlier this year.

:lmao I think Punk being a heel would definitely be the good factor of this feud unlike Cena where WWE had to do an extreme amount of heart warming promos to boost his popularity.

Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion

Daniel Bryan became the most over full timer in the company during this year despite ;

- playing third fiddle to AJ Lee and to whoever else he was feuding with
- Losing in 18 seconds at Wrestlemania
- getting beaten in decisive fashion by the likes of Alberto Del Rio

Do you know how ridiculously hard it is to get over despite HORRIBLE booking ? It's absolutely absurd, to be honest. This is why if Rock sticks around longer than XXIX, he should be put into a feud with the young guy who worked the hardest ; that would be Bryan.

You've given Ryback enough for doing something that anybody with a great look could do. He's essentialy WWE's version of Crimson, and to put him in a match with The Rock would be just NO. Personally, I think Bryan matches up with Rock better than anybody else in the company currently.

BUT OH WAIT ! WWE wants us to think that Bryan is a glorified mid-carder, so that will NEVER HAPPEN. God forbid a guy gets NATURALLY over, looks like we'll give all of the Rock's momentum to a guy who truly needs it to get over, like CENA, or better yet, RYBACK.

Re: Official The Rock WWE Championship Discussion

Why am I not surprised that the match that nobody cares about is going to happen while everything else is changing. Lesnar/HHH is the biggest waste of all time. Let HHH get his "win back" in a RAW match after WM or something if it's that important for him, don't ruin probably the last potentially huge show because of this shit. Although if we get Rock/Taker along with it, it would be half acceptable. Taker probably knows that he never had this big blockbuster at WM, Rock mentioned a potential Taker match since March. They can do Rock/Taker, Lesnar/HHH, Mysterio/Cara, Ryback/Cena and maybe a Orton/Sheamus/Punk 3 way. Any other possibility that is not Rock/Brock and especially has Rock/Cena, Lesnar/HHH and Taker/Punk should get a special chapter in the future "Death of WWE" book.

Surprised to hear about Rock on SD, even though SD is a worthless brand for the last 4+ years, I guess that the timing was right with his hometown and all. Should be a special show with The GOAT coming back live after a decade to bring back some prestige to the show he created.

Would it be that big of a surprise? after they shitted on Lesnars momentum in ER just so shit boy can get his win back,I can only imagine a WM main event Taker/lesnar,Rock/Lesnar after the ANOMALY broke Cenas and HHH arms that would have been record setting but they killed that angle and i'm sure they could do it again

I love that segment not just because Rock and Austin are in it. But because they don't have both smiling and hugging like geeks,. They have history but respect each other enough to shake hands but still have that "I don't like that guy" Kayfabe I merely speaking about.
Reminds of Sting/Ric Flair in their later years. They went back and forth for years but respected each other cuz they knew some of their best matches were with each other.

Regardless of your feelings on the Rock or Punk, I really only have one point to make.

Both of those guys brought intensity to that final promo. The closing segment of the show made the rest of the show (save for a few things) look like absolute shit. Rock and Punk were on such a higher level than everything else that happened, that I'd honestly be down with the WWE firing half of the roster to give more time to intense, focused feuds like this one.

I mean seriously, we can run along with our 'Vanilla Midget Kayfabe Breaking CM Punk' jokes and our 'Catchphrase Machine Dwayne Johnson' insults, but I don't see why we have to choose one or the other, when both of these guys were on such a damn high level compared to the shit we normally see on WWE television. That shit was captivating, it was interesting, and it planted seeds for a feud that might actually let us see some different stuff out of the Rock (I could be reading it wrong though, but regardless).

I know that mark wars will always exist, and I know that some will pick apart that cookiepuss line, or how Punk started getting repetitive, or what have you, but honestly, it's nights like this that we need to stop being so fucking picky. It's nights like this that we stop worrying about the 'Ratingzz' and 'Who buried who' or 'That promo could've been better' or 'Wow way to suck up'. That final promo was honestly fantastic, and I'm going to look at it as a STORY and a FEUD that will unfold however it will unfold. I'm only here to enjoy the ride. With CM Punk and The Rock at the front of it, I have no doubt that it will be a great one.
