WRESTLEMANIA 29 - Planning and excitement thread for atendees! 7 days away!
Alright everyone -
The day after WM27 last year, we started this thread in reference to the just-passed WM28. So, let's do it all again and start our road to WM29 right now! Money allowing, I'd freaking love to head to NYC next year. Who's going?!?!
I was hoping if someone who has stadium knowledge, or previous Mania knowledge, could help settle my seat paranoia.
We bought our tix during the presale and tried multiple times and couldn't get a better pair for the our budget ($300 ea), but looking at the seating chart I'm worried that we might not be able to see the entrance stage too well.
We're section 109 in the first few rows, and based on what I can tell on the numbering system we're on the aisle closest to 108 (I was hoping the other side when we saw the numbers!). It's hard to tell based on the imprint of the stage as to whether we'll get a nice view, or whether it'll be horribly obstructed. Anyone know?
Knowing my luck, the entrance will be fine and we'll be facing a tower holding up the ring gantry now! Can't wait to go though, holiday of a lifetime from Cardiff in the UK. Get to see my boys the Penguins in MSG, going to Pro Wrestling Syndicate out in Jersey on the Friday night then doing the Colbert Report taping on the Monday. There's a good chance my tiny mind will explode on touchdown!
I think not seeing the ring is what you'll have to worry about. Last year, the giant trees obstructed many peoples view in the corner sections and that's right around where you'll be. Entrance view should be fine though.
I've been thinking about it today, and I've decided that I'm fine with a Rock vs Cena rematch. As much as I want taker vs Lesnar and Cena vs punk vs rocky (hunter should keep his big nose out of this mania in my opinion) they put on a decent enough match last time and it will probably be a better match this time, as rocks had more matches to prepare for this. The only problem I have with it is how predictable it is, but if rocks gonna be at extreme rules as is reported, then there's a shadow of doubt in my mind, so I'm fine with it.
Damn right it would be! When Lesnar signed last year THIS was the match we all envisioned happening. Seeing as taker hasn't returned and no one has come to Vinces defence yet, I'm still holding for the match. triple H can wait until summerslam!
Tbh as a fan I'd rather see Triple H in a storyline with the Shield this year, so that taker is free for Brock. Then we get Cena-rock- punk as well, everybody wins and no rematches!!!
Long time lurker etc! Going to my first Wrestlemania this year. Coming from England and pretty excited, regardless of the card. Looking into going to Axxess, anyone know the best day? Or does anyone else have any general WM tips?
All the way from Saudi Arabia (12 Hours flight) to attend my 2nd WM in a row, I have bought the travel package with a friend who sadly couldn't get a Visa to the US so I will have an extra platinum travel package tickets (WM Floor seat, HOF Top price seat, Raw 100 section seat, 2 Axxess GA tickets, and a subway ticket for 4 days).
I am expecting the tickets to be delivered before 10th March and I am planning to list them here and on ebay, I hope I can recover my friend expenses.
I am a little bit worried about the floor seats with all the signs and the tall people keep standing up... but after last year experience I am 100% sure I will enjoy every moment despite that and seeing Cena beating The Rock for the title .
I got an email from WWE about the subway lines and how to go from Grand Hyatt to the stadium and I didn't understood a word and this is my biggest concern right now "wasting half of my NY trip lost between subway stations caring my WM chair".
Anyway, I will be going to the events alone from Grand Hyatt so if you are in the same hotel and planning to go together please tell me.
I keep switching from joyously high optimism to crushingly low pessimism about this card. On the one hand, I'm paying a huge amount of $$ to go half way around the world to watch, and they're serving me the same crap I've already seen. On the other hand, it's Wrestlemania. Does it really matter if it's predictable?
I think the main reason everyone is angry is that last year was labelled 'once in a lifetime'. If they didn't bill it as that, there'd be no problem. I mean, Rock and Cena are (whether people like it or not) two of the biggest names in WWE history. You expect them to only face each other one time in their entire career? And Brock/HHH is similar. These are two great wrestlers, so why will it be boring to see them face off again? It's like saying "oh, Barcelona are playing Real Madrid this week? Not watching, I've seen that same old crap before".
I really hope they pull out some sort of surprise in the next few weeks and at WM. At this point it looks obvious Cena will win, as does HHH, the 'faces' vs Shield, and Undertaker will obviously win. If we could get some shocks that would be amazing. The match-ups I'm fine with, but the outcomes just seem way too predictable. At this point, it's seeming like a 'filler' WM before the mammoth one that is XXX next year. I just wish they would make this one worthwhile.
Dunno if it's what you're looking for, but I'm staying in the Q4 hotel. It's a hostel but it's only been open a few months and it's reasonably priced and just outside of Queens. We're sharing in a 4 bed dorm for like $48 a night for both of us. Good deal. http://q4hotel.com/
This is WrestleMania, folks. There is no complaining. I DO NOT want to see the top two matches being rematches either, but I also paid $900 for my seats, so I'm damn sure going to enjoy myself, regardless of the card. Just being in that stadium, being at a WrestleMania, after being a fan for 20 years, will be enough for me.
Plus, look at it this way: Brock and Trips just got really good. And Rock/Cena II sucks but it's not Cena/Miz (with Miz going over, to boot). Perspective.
Everybody going to Mania is paying a pretty good price unless you live in NY, maybe even then. Between tix, hotel, travel, and expenses while there it's setting me back a little bit. But I will damn sure go and have a good time regardless of the card. Would I like something else, sure. But a lot of people have seemed to jump to the forgone conclusion that it's gonna suck and that's down right ignorant. Would I do this for any other show? Absolutely not but for my first and who knows maybe only Mania it's worth every penny and then some.
I agree totally, I'm absolutely aiming to make the best of this, tied in with doing non-wrestling related things in the city and things such as Axxess. The card really doesn't bother me that much, the atmosphere will still be incredible. Nothing can dampen my excitement..
i feel sorry for all the butthurt fans here but a card that has The Rock, Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, HHH, John Cena, Undertaker as its main attractions is always going to be an awesome event and thats not even counting the awesome midcard matches that will consist of wrestlers like The Shield, Daniel Bryan, Kane, Sheamus, Kofi etc . Seriously if you are giving up on Wrestlemania because of a marketing tagline of "Once in a lifetime" then you really are childish.
How do you not understand the disappointment? It's been years since WWE has had this kind of talent available on the same card and they made a card that is as unimaginative as can be. When you think of all the awesome stuff they could have done with the card you have understand why people are let down.
I'm keeping a positive outlook on this though. The weekend is going to be an amazing experience. Yeah the card isn't exactly what I wanted but I don't think the show is going to suck by any means.
To be honest, it's all a bit pathetic. In just under five weeks I've got ten days in the most famous city in the world, somewhere I've never been and have wanted to go to as a kid, I'm going with my best friend with whom I've grown up with and discovered wrestling with, fell out of love with wrestling with and then fell back in love with wrestling again.
I had the best time ever at last years Mania and this year has an even better pool of talent. Then there's Raw, front row to see Bret Hart and Jushin Liger, VIP Axxess to meet Triple H, I'm going to a Brooklyn Nets game, plenty of sight seeing and then the bars and clubs. Even mundane things like being able to buy a slurpee excites me. I just can't wait to get on that plane from London Heathrow on April 2nd.
Cheer up people and have the time of you lives the way that week is meant to be. Who cares if there's a rematch or two, there is all the makings for an amazing week!
I think for the money some of us are spending we are entitled to post our feelings, whether they be good or bad to encourage discussion. On the contrary I think the thread wouldn't be as interesting if it was just unbridled ecstasy.
However above all can we try and keep it respectful? Its no secret I'm not looking forward to it but I've got a lot of time for those that are. Let's not start using words like 'pathetic' and 'feel sorry for you' and 'negative about everything in life'. It will be a better discussion for it I promise! We all might learn something.
For my part, I'd put forward that I don;t subscribe to this 'It doesnt matter about the card - its Wrestlemania!' theory because what made Wrestlemania so special to us originally? The card. Things like Hart v HBK and Rock v Hogan are what gave Wrestlemania its magical shine. Some of that has kind of worn off for me this year.
To put it another way, as I was buying my tickets on Ticketmaster I was legitimately thinking 'I wonder who Taker will fight?' and 'I cant wait to watch Brock take on another headliner'. I wasn't thinking 'Should be a good atmosphere'.
Perhaps this is the crux of the matter - some were there for the experience and some were there to see some wrestling history?
I know, understand your frustrations. However just don't watch it. I won't, I'm just gonna watch taker/punk following morning and read the rest of the results online
Me and my friends booked hotels/flights last May and tickets as soon as they were released. Not attending isnt really an option at this point.
A holiday in NY with friends will be good and I'm also looking forward to meeting wrestling fans in Blarneys. Its just a shame the main reason for going has dropped down the list of priorities.
If you went last year I can see you losing some interest, but this is my first mania, first time seeing the rock as WWE champ in person, first time seeing Undertaker in person (even if he is 40 and fat). I've never been to a Mania before and I'm just as excited about going today as I was when I got my tickets.
Tailgating in the parking lot before mania and once I walk in the stadium I expect to feel like a kid for a couple of hours.
I feel exactly the same way: apart from a Raw house show I've never been to a Wrestling event before despite being a fan for about 6 years now, and cannot believe how lucky I am to be seeing taker, Jericho, rocky, punk and more! I'm so excited, it's gonna be great. When was the last time a WWE rematch disappointed??
I wanted to buy tickets off StubHub, but after seeing the card come together, it's simply not worth my money. It's not even worth my PPV money, let alone the cash for decent seats. Maybe XXX - I've wanted to go to New Orleans for years.
I dunno. I've had a blast at past Raw tapings and they've all been in the UK, and those shows are painful to watch. But in person, I've had tons more fun, so based on two/three matches being confirmed, I am not that bothered. Atmosphere will be great and I'm determined to make the most of it.
