Re: If you could be satisfied with one wrestler beating Undertaker, who would it be?

When Orton lost to the Undertaker I was initially annoyed but having realised what a piece of crap he was back and how big a draw the streak has become it was definitely the right decision.

The only person I would give the win to would be a fulltime Lesnar (but that's not going to happen).

The only matches I'm really interested in seeing now are with Cena, Lesnar, Angle and a clean and fulltime Jeff Hardy.

I would add Bryan but under NO circumstances should Taker in Phenom mode have to tap out at wrestlemania.

The streak has to end, because whoever ends is is going to be mega over. And it will end, because Taker isn't selfish and he will do what is best for the business.

If they plan on ending it @ WM30, then give it to whoever you want to build the company around for the next 5 years. I don't whink that will be Cena, Sheamus or Punk. What about a Randy Orton resurgence?

Or how about Wade Barrett, at Wembley? Like Orton, he is a couple of years younger than those guys. There you would have a mega heel ready for the next 5 years.

So yeah, I say Barrett or Orton.

No one will. The only person I thought could have ended it without too much scorn is Shawn.

And realistically the only two guys built up enough for a Taker defeat to be believable would be Cena/Rock.

And since they don't want some maniac nerd shooting either of them in a rage or something I doubt they would.

Re: If you could be satisfied with one wrestler beating Undertaker, who would it be?

IMO, nobody. You always have the risk of it being a wasted opportunity.

Punk likely won't be wrestling 3-5 years from now and doesn't really get much from ending The Streak. Cena doesn't need it and it will just make people despise him even more. Barrett needs to be a legit main eventer before even put in a program with Taker and nobody else is even close to qualifying.

At the same time, if I could go back, either Orton or HBK would have ended it or they should have booked Angle/Taker and had Angle end it. Had Brock not left, he might have been the best choice.

Agreed.

Yeah that would be a good storyline

John Cena but simply for heel turn purposes only. Him ending the streak would cause riots, thus giving the fans a full-blown heel turn from Cena.
If people rioted over the outcome over a fake entertainment match that's really sad. That's like rioting over the outcome of a movie.

Re: If you could be satisfied with one wrestler beating Undertaker, who would it be?

There's only one person on the roster than can end the streak and that's John Cena.

There's no way their going to have anybody who hasn't been in the company for at least 5 years end the streak. Because if they do end the streak, anything else they do won't matter. And besides, there is the possibility that the person they book to end the streak can up and quit any minute.

John Cena has been in the company for a decade and is a solidified main eventer. Ending the streak would only add to his legacy after he's done everything else there is to do.

I kinda feel the same way. Right now WWE is just teasing us with name mentioning on Punk's part. Every time he says the Undertaker or Stone Cold Steve Austin I get so excited at the thought of either of them coming in to interrupt him, but disappointment sets in shortly. If they could find a way to make it relevant and make Punk a threat, then I'd be for him facing Taker.

I like your avatar by the way. It's silly. :suarez1

Aren't we due an "Undertaker is returning" vignette.
Ehh mayhaps. Mayhaps not. Maybe if/when Calaway is ready to return, I can picture him returning during a Punk promo in response to Punk always claiming superiority over him and other legends. Although it would be the obvious way of doing things, it would at least will make him relevant in something and then a possible mania match could ensue as mentioned above.

I love and respect Taker but imo his steak is severely overrated. Sure its impressive to go undefeated that long but hes only beaten a bunch of 2nd/3rd tier names. Hes never beaten a guy who had a run as "face of the company" like Hogan/Austin/Rock/sadly Cena.

I think it wouldve really validated his career and streak to beat one of those guys, just my opinion. I have tons of respect for his longevity and working through injuries but its really hard for me to put him top 5 ever when he hasnt beaten 1 of the elite guys at Mania.

Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Ric Flair are not 2nd or 3rd tier names.

He hasn't beaten 1 of the elite guys at Wrestlemania because until Wrestlemania 22, Vince focused The Streak to (unsuccessfully) push talentless big men mid-carders to the main event scene. It was not until Wrestlemania 23 that stupid old man finally realized how many chances he had been missing, thus the main eventer addition became legit starting with Batista.

It'll be Punk, and what a slap in the face to him after all he's done for them. Punk should be getting the main event with Rock, not a match in the midcard, much less one where it's a guaranteed, no way around it loss, but no, we need to see the golden boy have the same bad build and bad match we already saw at the same event last year.

If the report is true (and that's a big "if"), it makes me think Taker/Lesnar isn't happening, because I'm certain Lesnar's Wrestlemania match has already been decided. Rock is also eliminated based on that thought. Cena's still possible (though I'd think his WM match is already decided with him against Rock and for Lesnar it's HHH). With that being said Punk seems like the only top level guy who's Wrestlemania is up in the air enough to be facing Taker. Only others could be are Sheamus and Orton.

Everybody accepted months ago that Punk was facing The Rock at RR instead of WM, this would be the next best thing for him. Call me crazy but i could see Punk ending the streak as well.

I still think Brock will face Undertaker though.
You're crazy, no way Vince is going to give a 20 year old The Streak to a bloke who has mentioned time and again he wants early retirement in several years.

CM Punk would be the least threatening guy to attempt the streak in quite a long time. If Taker has hand picked his opponent then because of their history I'd imagine that he'd want to face Lesnar.

Cena/Taker has to happen before he completely falls apart. As good as the last 4 were I think it was a bit of a waste to face HBK twice and HHH 3 times.

They've got the 6 main guys and to be honest whatever combinations they go with it shouldn't be terrible.
