Re: Official Undertaker WM Streak Thread - No Other Threads
Punk isn't believable to end the streak, but honestly out of all the guys on the roster, he's the one guy at this point in time I'd be "OK" with ending the streak. The only big issue I have with it is how much longer will Punk be in WWE past WM29? 2-3 more years I'd guess if what he said was true about his retirement being sooner than you'd think. I'd like to believe the guy that ends the streak would be sticking around for at least another 5 years personally, but I suppose as long as Punk wouldn't leave like within a year after ending the streak, it wouldn't be too bad.
But hey, Punk still has heights to reach in the company and ending the streak would instantly propel him to those heights, and even if he lost but put up a tougher fight than HHH did, it would certainly cement him as a main event heel. Unlike DesoRow, I believe Punk would have everything to gain from feuding against Taker even if he lost the match, and nothing to lose.
Though I think what DesolationRow was trying to say was Punk would gain more from beating someone like HHH or Rock or Austin at WM as opposed to losing to Taker, which is true. No matter how much he could gain from just feuding with Taker even in defeat, he would gain more if he actually won a WM match against another top guy. That being said beating Taker at WM is the biggest thing anyone could do kayfabe wise, and would instantly make them a top tier main eventer. Beating Taker at any other event though would cement Punk as a main eventer and if they're trying to bring Taker in for SVS, he should face Taker at SVS, and then at TLC and get out of the feud with the WWE Championship. Probably win by some heelish means at SVS, but at TLC he beats Taker in the match as clean as you can in that type of match, and as I've said that would be the last put over Punk would ever need to become a permanent fixture in the main event, and make him white hot going into his match with The Rock at the RR.
But yeah, Taker/Punk at WM isn't my top choice for either guy. For Taker I'd prefer he face Lesnar, Cena, or Rock over Punk, and for Punk I'd rather he face Austin, HHH, or Rock over Taker.
I'm watching you...
