According to F4WOnline.com, The Undertaker is expected to work a high profile match at WrestleMania 29, and his potential opponents are currently being discussed, with one possibility being CM Punk ending the streak and "earning everyone's respect."

Contrary to what WWE normally does with The Undertaker, the company is considering bringing The Dead Man back for the Royal Rumble PPV in January, and possibly having him win the Royal Rumble match.

The feeling is an Undertaker Royal Rumble win along with a title shot at WrestleMania 29 could bring in a strong buy rate for the big PPV.

Seriously, Punk ending the streak would be the biggest joke ever. Taker has kicked out of finishers upon finishers from credible opponents like HBK and HHH so how in the hell can anyone for one second believe that even 10 GTS's can beat him?

I would love a WM program between them if that'd mean Taker kills Punk like back in 2009, though.

The dirtsheets can think what they want. You stick Punk in there with Taker at Mania next year and the vast majority of people are going to laugh at the mere thought of Punk being able to beat him. The only guys with the credibility and standing to fight in streak matches are Rock, Lesnar and Cena. That's it. Everybody else at that level has been exhausted. Choosing somebody below said guys would be quite the step down.

The idea of Punk vs Taker is appealing, but I do not like with what we are left with, Rock vs Cena and HHH vs Lesnar.

It makes sense from a storyline perspective, given Punk's quest for respect - and what better way to obtain that than to defeat the most respected man in the company on the very stage he has never lost - but the outcome is still predictable as always. If HHH and HBK - 2 of the very best of all time and notably bigger threats than Punk - couldn't get the job done, they'd be hard pressed to get anyone to believe that Punk is a viable threat to the streak.

Lol. I agree with you though. The only way I want to see a Taker/Punk program is if Punk gets destroyed like he did in their first feud. Then again, I am biased hater of CM Punk (because unlike most smarks, I actually realize how lame he is), and I would love for him to go back to where he belongs: High School Gyms, or the Smackdown midcard. The novelty of seeing some smark "making it" all the way from High School Gyms to the top of the WWE is really starting to get on my nerves. His DVD did not change my opinion either. X-Pac: Main Event Version needs to go away.

Lastly, I believe there is no way in hell Taker loses at WM 29 unless they want to do the Cena match a year earlier. After his match with HHH this year, I don't believe he loses to anybody before he faces Cena. Whether Cena ends the streak or not is actually irrelevant. It is just the fact that he is the ONLY legit threat to the streak at this point. Rock and Lesnar are part timers.

For the record, content wise Punk/Taker sounds fine with the whole respect deal etc. But Punk simply isn't at that level and that's a fact. Nobody would buy him as a threat to the streak which would defeat the whole purpose of them having a feud in the first place.

After reading your opinion I hope Punk does challenge Taker and beats him cleanly in the middle of the ring just so I can laugh at your angst.

Punk isn't believable to end the streak, but honestly out of all the guys on the roster, he's the one guy at this point in time I'd be "OK" with ending the streak. The only big issue I have with it is how much longer will Punk be in WWE past WM29? 2-3 more years I'd guess if what he said was true about his retirement being sooner than you'd think. I'd like to believe the guy that ends the streak would be sticking around for at least another 5 years personally, but I suppose as long as Punk wouldn't leave like within a year after ending the streak, it wouldn't be too bad.

But hey, Punk still has heights to reach in the company and ending the streak would instantly propel him to those heights, and even if he lost but put up a tougher fight than HHH did, it would certainly cement him as a main event heel. Unlike DesoRow, I believe Punk would have everything to gain from feuding against Taker even if he lost the match, and nothing to lose.

Though I think what DesolationRow was trying to say was Punk would gain more from beating someone like HHH or Rock or Austin at WM as opposed to losing to Taker, which is true. No matter how much he could gain from just feuding with Taker even in defeat, he would gain more if he actually won a WM match against another top guy. That being said beating Taker at WM is the biggest thing anyone could do kayfabe wise, and would instantly make them a top tier main eventer. Beating Taker at any other event though would cement Punk as a main eventer and if they're trying to bring Taker in for SVS, he should face Taker at SVS, and then at TLC and get out of the feud with the WWE Championship. Probably win by some heelish means at SVS, but at TLC he beats Taker in the match as clean as you can in that type of match, and as I've said that would be the last put over Punk would ever need to become a permanent fixture in the main event, and make him white hot going into his match with The Rock at the RR.

But yeah, Taker/Punk at WM isn't my top choice for either guy. For Taker I'd prefer he face Lesnar, Cena, or Rock over Punk, and for Punk I'd rather he face Austin, HHH, or Rock over Taker.
