Rock and Cena aren't going to main event this show, that's why. I think putting this match on last, with respect for Punk, would add intrigue to whether the streak could fall. It would also quell a John Cena victory chorus of boos from the crowd. If you don't turn Cena, you can't just end the show with him on top, with the title in hand celebrating. Too obvious, done before. He doesn't really need it. But if Cena loses, what does that prove, either? Rock wins again, a repeat of last year? So what? There's no "win" situation there, which is why we're only getting Cena/Rock main event coupled with a Cena turn. Otherwise, the streak goes on last, and Punk's chances of taking it down shoot way, way up.
I said in the Raw thread that I don't expect this match to go on last at all, unless for some reason WWE books Punk to end the streak.
Rock/Cena II is their money match. It main evented last year without the title, so why should we believe that it won't main event with the title?
I must say, though seeing Punk end the streak to close Mania would be epic. Taker's career would effectively, "Go to sleep".
How is that worse than if Punk closed Mania as the champ and lost to Cena? If Rocky faced Brock at Mania it would be the real main event so whats the difference?
Because he deserves to main event a WrestleMania, not to mention he'd also have gotten a 500 day title reign. GTF outta here with this "real main event" shit. It doesn't matter what people THINK is the main event, it matters what closes. I'm not interested in Punk having the so called "Match of the night". Big fucking deal, what prize does he get for that? He's still being overshadowed.
This match is worthless, it means jack shit. Only if Punk wins does it gain any value, and even at that, he should've been in the main event regardless because that's worth more.

Getting to main event WrestleMania for a change would be nice. Not that WWE knows what's good for them enough to let it happen. You know, what he SHOULD be doing this year and can't because his spot was stolen by a wannabe movie star.
Anyway, hooray for Punk. It's official, he gets to lose in a forgettable match in the Mania undercard.
Just like last year right? That match that stole the show?
