It's kinda amusing how so many people used to bitch and moan about how Orton never used to put anyone over and that he was selfish, etc and now that he's spent almost 2 years doing just that people label him as 'irrelevant'.

Orton vs. Taker could be a great match if Orton turns heel but it won't happen. If Taker wrestles, 90% chance it'll be against Punk.

You know what I find interesting? The whole "credibility" angle of it all. In the current day, we'll talk about guys like Jericho and Orton having zero credibility facing off against Taker at WrestleMania and it's true. HOWEVER, for fans that look back at WM 29 some 5, 10, 15yrs down the line, they won't think "Wow, what were they thinking? They had no shot." Instead they'll likely be thinking "Wow, Taker against Y2J, the first undisputed champion!" Or "Taker against Orton, the apex predator. That was a big match-up."


Because you really forget after a few years who had momentum leading up to a big PPV and who were on losing streaks and the only thing you could go by is by the promos/video packages they show before the match itself. I mean, do you remember who was jobbing a lot heading into SummerSlam 2010 for instance? Or what about WM 23? You don't. That's why certain matches still sell because their names are stamped while other matches will fail for the same reason. I don't care if Jack Swagger goes on a 20-match winning streak, he's still Jack freakin' Swagger in most fans' eyes and that's why Del Rio-Swagger isn't seen as a big time match-up.

I still think that there is a good chance that an Undertaker/Lesnar match will happen because a couple of years ago taker himself actually went to a UFC ppv and confronted Lesnar. Now that they are both a part of the WWE again, I think taker will jump at the chance to return for a match with lesnar at Wrestlemania. I guess we will find out on RAW tomorrow.....

It's going to be Taker vs Lesnar or Taker vs Punk at WM this year. If they put Punk against Taker when they have Lesnar available, it's clear that they are betting on the future instead of the past. And I'm calling it now, if that happens, Punk will break the streak. His whole "Best in the world" run has been building up to this point. Punk will start feuding with Cena and Rock after WM when he can once again back up his claims of being the best in the world.

You could hype Taker/Lesnar for a year, and whatever happens, will deliver. Maybe Taker/Cena can get to that level? (doubt it), but every wrestling fan wants to see Lesnar/Taker.

Thats the biggest money match of all-time. It doesn't make sense to burn up the build in 5 weeks, when you could sell it for a year, and people would still be hot for it.
