Re: Official Undertaker WM Streak Thread - No Other Threads
Do you say that as an excited CM Punk fan in light of your boy possibly ending the streak, or do you say that as a WWE fan in general with no favoritism?
Personally, I don't think the streak should ever end. But if Taker wants the end of the streak to be his final curtain call, thus ending his career once and for all... then so be it. At least it will be Undertaker's choice. If indeed the article's true and that's what he wants.
(although from a Cena fan point of view, on a bias and selfish level, I will never get to see Taker/Cena at mania 30 if that happens. )

Yeah, gonna be a baldie for the rest of his life.

As far as 5 star matches go, Taker has 5 at WM alone.

Only according to Big Dave, one mans opinion. There have been several 5 star matches in that time.

I gave it four stars the next day, but I was still marking out. 3 stars is more accurate.

I don't actually believe that rumor, though I won't put it past Taker as he believes The Streak is becoming bigger than the sport itself. But no way WWE gives The Streak to a guy who will retire by 2015.
Use a 20 year rub for 2 years until 2015? Good investment right there.

Streak is better off unbroken, they can make tons of money off of it after Taker retires. If it gets broken, it's worthless IMO.
All those matches you listed were as good or better than Punk/Cena, exactly why Dave is so overrated in his opinion, despite what his marks like to think.

How exactly can they make money off the streak one he retires?

Earlier today a story came out about The Undertaker being undecided at this moment about working WrestleMania this year. Several people close to The Undertaker have said that they have been given a different version of that story. It's being said that the hold up here is the result of the match. When Taker said he wanted to work with Punk at WM he told WWE officials he wants The Streak to end and to retire, and Punk is his personal choice to pull it off. Higher up officials in WWE have been trying to convince Taker to pull back on that, as they are against the idea of Punk ending it. As of now the two sides have yet to reach an agreement, and both seem to remain very stern in their views. - Mr. Don
[b]Why is this? There's always someone in management against the idea of Punk doing something. What the hell is wrong with these people? It's about time they put their full backing behind him for once. And if he is indeed 'Taker's personal choice to be the one to end the streak, then they should respect 'Taker enough, to not even question that decision.[/B}

Ending a 20 year old legacy to a guy who will retire in 2 years? Great logic and booking right there.
Sure, it's Taker's decision. But Vince has the final say in everything and if he declares Taker's decision unfit for the benefit of his company, Taker will still have to obey.
The fact that Vince, HHH, and Steph have made it clear they want The Streak to stay intact alone pretty much makes it clear Punk isn't going to take The Streak with him when he bids adieu in 2015. As much power Taker has backstage, I believe Vince, Hunter, and Steph have bigger & higher power.

Still, Vince won't give The Streak to someone who'll leave come 2015. He'd rather see Taker facing Sheamus at WM 29 but winning rather than facing Punk but losing.

Agreed, an unbeaten streak only sells when it's intact.

I concur, though I think all the matches I listed are way ahead of Punk/Cena when it comes to quality.
But in all seriousness, I cannot believe some people actually take his words as The Ten Commandments, you know?

Re: Official Undertaker WM Streak Thread - No Other Threads
I think if Taker wants it to be broken by Punk there are two options.
1. Vince allows it and Taker will have a match
2. Vince does´t allow it and Taker won´t have a match
I think Taker don´t have to bow down to Vince anymore. If he not gets what he wants he just won´t show up.

Re: Official Undertaker WM Streak Thread - No Other Threads
But the thing is taker is by all acounts a pro, he knows what his job is, he dont care about "wins" or losses
He knows how things work so he will show up IMO

And why cant they do that when the streak is broken?
If CM punk where to retired before he lost to the rock, would his holding the title that longer and NEVER losing it sell stuff more? no imo
I dont see how him wining or lossing affects it now, they can still call it the streak, its still the best recore4d out there

Re: Official Undertaker WM Streak Thread - No Other Threads
If they DO want to break it though, you wouldn't let Punk break it until AFTER Taker has met Cena at Mania in my opinion.

Re: Official Undertaker WM Streak Thread - No Other Threads
Punk should not, but think of this, thast could be whats need to bring the next new face, I'd say its worth it in the end, takers legacy is nice and all but he form what I hear would have no problem giving the future the win

Paul Bearer Unsure if Undertaker Will Work WrestleMania 29

Quote:
Legendary WWE personality, Paul Bearer, recently did an exclusive interview with PWTorch, during which he talked in-depth on his friendship with the Undertaker, and his status for this year's WrestleMania.
Triple H accepted a Slammy Award in late 2012 for his Hell in a Cell match with Undertaker, and claimed that the WWE Universe had not seen the last of the Dead Man. However, Paul Bearer is not convinced that guarantees anything:
"I took that completely differently than how the fans took it. My favorite wrestler for the past 20 years has been off for a year, and he deserves time off. My God, that man has carried that company on his back for years... I just don't 100 percent agree with the fact that Hunter stated that Undertaker is returning at WrestleMania 29. Because he didn't say that."
Bearer also claimed there isn't "any reason in hell" that the Undertaker should put his 20-year WrestleMania streak back on the line, "after what he has done for this company".
The latest reports coming from the Wrestling Observer are that the Undertaker is likely to face former WWE Champion CM Punk in April, at MetLife Stadium. At this time, he is still scheduled to make an appearance at the WrestleMania VIP Axxess events on April 5th, alongside John Cena.
