Re: Official Undertaker WM Streak Thread - No Other Threads

Mod, you've been erasing the latest Streak threads relentlessly, so how do u figure we could discuss things if we cannot even put some polls in this almost rarely visited thread? If u were going to erase all The Streak related threads and put it them into this one, can't u at least retain the poll?

Re: Official Undertaker WM Streak Thread - No Other Threads

Kind of funny looking at Undertaker's streak and his threats:

Giant Gonzales - As a little kid, I was thinking to myself "OMG, this guy is freaking huge! How is Undertaker going to beat this guy?!!"

Diesel - This is when The Streak became a big deal as Nash was a former WWF Champion.

Sid - Definitely a threat as he had beaten Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart back to back.

Kane - Was undefeated heading into Boston and had the poetic notion if anybody could beat Undertaker at WM, it'd be his brother.

Triple H - I knew Undertaker was winning, but Helsmley defeating Austin the month prior definitely gave him some credibility. The final encounter in Miami though was the best example of "All Or Nothing" storytelling as Undertaker was the underdog heading into the match.

The Big Show & A-Train - The match turning into a handicapped one raised the stakes and was nail biting to watch.

Randy Orton - If anybody should've ended the Streak, it was this man.

Batista - The last true challenge to the Streak IMO as nobody had been able to defeat Dave for the title. This is my favorite Undertaker WM match with Edge being a close second.

Shawn Michaels - The greatest battle though as The Dead Man had never defeated HBK before plus it was fantastic that The Undertaker was having his mind toyed with by his opponent for a change.

Re: Official Undertaker WM Streak Thread - No Other Threads

I just don't see why people say he HAS to lose in order to leave WWE and retire, move on. I know the streak doesn't seem as badass to some people since wrestling is scripted, but for me it is. I will say for him to retire and leave undefeated, it would make things odd, and even if he had a huge ceremony, the question would always linger out there about another challenge or return, I mean not for forever, but for awhile.. But IMO it does no good to get this far and then LOSE so you can finally move on from wrestling.. Whether you like it or not its part of the mans legacy and legend, the streak is what MAKES Taker especially nowadays. I think 20-0 is a perfect number, and would be a perfect place to stop, but as a huge lifelong fan of Taker I just dont wanna see him go. Then again when its all said and done, if he comes back a couple or few more times, if he could get it up to 21, 22-0, that number wouldnt exactly seem odd once he got there.. But if it went to say 22-0 and THEN all of a sudden he loses and its 22-1 or some shit, that just does NOTHING. To me all that it could possibly do would somewhat tarnish his legacy, which IMO should live on with him being undefeated.

All im trying to say is Undertaker is a Legend, especially for guys like me who werent old enough to watch Hogan/Flair live in the golden days, for me the Att-Era WAS the golden days of wrestling, and Taker for me is the biggest legend/star from that era, to still be involved in matches/feuds.. IMO he is the last outlaw, last true star of his kind, especially to still be competing fairly regular even though its once a year. The last outlaw with this type of different/sinister badass gimmick. I honestly dont see them being capable of producing such a gimmick/outlaw character in the future that could live up to what Taker has, and do it for years and years..

IMO those days are over now and in my mind he is the last true outlaw of his generation and thats why I dont bitch and complain about how old he is, ring rust, looking old on TV, mic skills, etc.. The man is damn near 50 and still risks it all every year for us fans, the fans like me, and gives it his ALL and entertains fans like me like he just did a few weeks ago at Mania. People talk about how wrestlers get old and need to learn when to quit... I dont buy into that 100% especially with a guy like Taker who I think would fight his way through a FUCKING STROKE to keep the match going to entertain us.. He's not stupid, he will know when he has had enough. Until then, let the man do what he does best for us fans who appreciate the ALL that he gives every year.

Re: Official Undertaker WM Streak Thread - No Other Threads

I laugh at everyone who says they will never fear for the streak again. That's said EVERY year. I guarantee that 90% of you (whether you're willing to admit it or not) will at least for a second or two think that Taker might lose at some point in his next Mania match. I guarantee it. That's why his matches are always the best on the card.

Whats your perfect idea for future Taker feuds/matches/appearances, OR retirement?

Ok guys, just wanted to start this and get everyones perfect ideas, how they would love to see future Taker returns, appearances, feuds, matches.. OR Retirement.. I dont see him leaving anytime soon but hey you never know, its gonna be weird IMO to see him trying to get above 20-0 cause thats just a perfect number. Im a huge Taker fan and I could sit here all day and dream up really good ideas, booking for a return or feud.. I honestly cant picture him making a huge return anytime soon, not even at the 1000th episode, because of his gimmick. Whats he gonna do I mean besides start a early feud for a future PPV? It just seems so epic in my opinion, to miss him for a whole year, every year, but then get to enjoy his suprise returns and promos, matches at WM. IMO with him being around only really once a year it makes it much more memorable and just better, rather then having him appear more and job. I tell ya in my mind, it seems like Taker and the WWE knows he wont be competing for years to come, thats why he is only once a year now.. Kinda like they are trying to cement his legacy year by year and not burn his legacy out by having him compete/appear regularly and job...

As far as the Mania matches, Cena is the only guy left that you could have him face where you could even remotely entertain the thought of Taker losing. So Taker vs. Cena is the only compelling match left.

I still think Sting is gonna have a one off match against Taker somewhere down the line.
