SmackDown Women’s Championship Six-Pack Elimination Challenge

The first SmackDown Women’s Champion will be crowned at WWE Backlash Sunday, Sept. 11, when Becky Lynch, Nikki Bella, Natalya, Naomi, Alexa Bliss and Carmella compete in a Six-Pack Challenge. The first Superstar to claim a fall will be declared the victor and new titleholder.

SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan and Commissioner Shane McMahon unveiled the newly commissioned championship on Aug. 23, only two days after Team Blue received a “Fearless” surprise.

The longest-reigning Divas Champion in history, Nikki Bella returned unannounced at SummerSlam in her first match back since undergoing neck surgery in January. Taking the spot of Eva Marie in a Six-Woman Tag Team Match, Nikki showed she hasn’t lost a step, winning the bout for her team after torching Carmella with a new finishing maneuver.

In a post-match interview, Nikki left no doubt that she has come back with the intention of dominating SmackDown Live, but to become the brand’s top female Superstar, she must contend with a dangerous playing field that barely resembles the one she left in October 2015.

Former Divas Champion Natalya has grown more vicious inside the ring since then, while “Irish Lass Kicker” Becky Lynch — the only member of the “Four Horsewomen” to have never won a title in either NXT or WWE — looks to prove that Bryan and McMahon’s faith wasn’t misplaced when they made her Team Blue’s first female WWE Draft pick.

SmackDown Live’s increasingly stacked Women’s division doesn’t end there. With a new, jaw-dropping entrance to match her vivacious style of combat, Naomi is eager to leave the competition in the “Rear View,” and WWE newcomers Carmella and Alexa Bliss seek to continue the trend of NXT women quickly ascending the ranks in WWE.

Which Superstar will earn the distinction of becoming the first SmackDown Women’s Champion? Watch the blue brand-exclusive WWE Backlash Sunday, Sept. 11, at 8 ET/5 PT on WWE Network to find out.
Well, since I didn't see a thread already, figured I'd make one.

Since Eva is suspended, it's a much more level playing field. It's also interesting considering Nikki is a now a face as well. In the end, Becky are the two favorites, and you all know who I'm rooting for :).

Also, I hope they don't have all 6 women in the ring at one time. 6 man/woman matches are much better IMO when you have two legal participants and the other competitors are in the corners having to tag in. When you have all 6 legal at one time, it's way too much of a cluster and half the time 3-4 of the girls are just laying on the outside of the ring.

My preferred method is to just have 2 in the ring at a time, control more of the action, and then have the big cluster at the end.

Holy shit. Backlash was totally worth watching! There was seriously like (almost) nothing for me to complain about XD

Hell, even the pre-show match was enjoyable lol

Besides the Naomi/Nattie mess us and Carmella's all over the place smacking i also agree the match was very good. And I went into thinking it was gonna be OK to goodish.

I felt from the get go that Becky would win because Nikki is in something with Carmella and I doubt they want Carmella that close to the title so soon. That and Becky was starting something with Eva (who before her suspension we all thought was going to win). I'm also guessing that's why Carmella was the last one pinned. Because anyone else people would want to see Becky feud with them.

I get this weird feeling Becky probably enjoyed that as much as any of us would have. She just puts off that gay vibe to me idk why.

Really enjoyed the women's match, but I couldn't help but feel like Becky Lynch did the least in that match, and yet she still won...Yay? Add to that, she beat Carmella, who is the weakest person in the division....Pretty weak way to win the title. Why not have her beat Naomi or Nikki? I don't know, when I imagined Becky finally winning the title, I thought it would be a very emotional moment, however that felt very anti-climatic.

With all that being said, I'm happy Becky Balboa finally won a title in WWE and I hope she steps her game up as the champion now.

Re: SmackDown Women’s Championship Six-Pack Challenge

Initially, I was split on whether I wanted Becky to win the 6-pack challenge for the title, or whether I wanted her to chase. But now, I'm fairly certain I want her to win. Here's why...

It will be the first Smackdown Live exclusive PPV of the new era. It will be the first women's 6-pack challenge for the title. It will be the inauguration of the SDL women's title. That's a lot of firsts. That's a lot of significance. And I think Becky should be the woman to have all those firsts.

She's been chasing for a solid year on the MR now. She never got the title down in NXT, either. She's already over, and she already has all the underdog sympathy she needs. Chasing even more at this point isn't going to be much more of a benefit to her, it's just going to drag things out and potentially run the risk of cooling her down. She's hot now. The fans want her to be champ now. The time is now.

Becky is already a complete talent. She has a great look. She has a great babyface character. She has a great entrance and theme that fans mark out for and sing along with. She has signature catchphrases and moves. She has a good amount of merch. She has a sizable following. She is the best promo and on the mic among the women. She's bexcellent in the ring, and can even give other girls direction mid-match. She's already well-rounded, and has more than enough experience, so she doesn't need time to grow, or develop anything in particular. She's already title-worthy.

Some people seem to think a Mania moment is more appropriate for her title win. But I say to this, if she wins the title at Backlash, that doesn't mean she can't drop it before Mania and still get that title win at Mania. Moreover, even if she goes into Mania as champ, that doesn't mean she can't still have a great Mania moment. Some people seem so hung up on Mania moments that they're willing to risk striking while the iron is hot, and I think that's a mistake. Backlash is going to be a big PPV--again, the first for SDL-- and the card is already looking substantial. And again, to my previous point, chasing for another 6 months isn't really necessary, and it isn't likely to provide her much more than she already has going for her now.

Lastly, anyone else winning would just seem like a disappointment, tbh. Who else should really be the one to win, and take all those firsts, if not Bex? It'd be a waste not to have Bex win, IMO. Nikki's long-reign preceded her hiatus while injured. Her going right back to another title reign would be underwhelming, and more to the point, she's probably the last one that needs to hold a title right now. Carmella and Bliss are still too new--they need more establishment, building, and heat. They're not ready. Nattie simply isn't a strong enough talent to carry the torch--she ranges from decent to good in the ring, but out of the ring she is consistently bad, and there's no other way to put it, really. Giving it to Nattie would kill a lot of interest and momentum for the division. Eva will presumably still be out of the picture. That leaves Naomi who is a solid enough mid-card talent, but just doesn't seem like one who should be sitting at the top right now, let alone christening the belt.

Becky is what's best for business, so let Becklash commence.

Edit: As for the format of the match, I'm hoping it's managed well with good flow, and isn't just a clusterfuck from start to finish.

Should be Nikki Bella, this is someone who got the women in WWE popular again with Total Divas, top merchandise seller, and helped put over the women of NXT, she could've been selfish and had the stroke to reject losing to Charlotte and etc, but she didn't, she chose to help them out. Nikki the top draw of the women, so much so that even injured tops merchandise lists, she is more of deserving of being the first women's champion on Smackdown, Becky will have her time as well as Carmella.

The chase is better than the immediate win, I actually believe this would be bad for Becky, if she's going to win the title then a chase can only work if she immediately loses the title(Ie. Daniel Bryan getting cashed in on and screwed the 2nd time, never having an actual title reign, only winning it then immediately losing it somehow, made people want him to win even more, making the chase better) having an actual title reign would just kill the chase.

SmackDown Women’s Championship Six-Pack Challenge

I kinda believe the reports about Nikki probably being the first SD champion. If they are serious about this new era thing then the winner should be someone different. I was speaking to @Tempest about this, and the discussion was about the idea that Becky shouldn't win because she should chase the title. Me personally, I think Becky has already chased the title with Charlotte enough so she would be doing the same thing here if she didn't win. I think Becky should get her moment.

The problem with the chase is you need a good heel to hold it. Carmella and Alexa are still very new and Natalya just feels like a veteran at this point. Nikki is now a face.

As much as some people don’t want to admit it, Eva would have been the perfect choice to the first champion. You build her heat up and then build a face like Becky to get the big moment of taking the title away from her.

So unless the plan would be for Nikki to win and quickly drop to Eva so Becky could chase, I think the best thing you can do is have Becky win.

I gotta say, I wasn't expecting this match to be as good as it was. I mean, this had a lot of potential to be a disaster, but all of these girls really stepped up tonight, IMO, and gave us a good match. A couple of minor mistakes, but nothing too bad, and they didn't take away from the overall product. Several surprises, and some suspenseful moments. The crowd was REALLY into it, too. Naomi probably looked the best she's looked in the ring in a long time. Bliss really got herself noticed tonight, too. All of them looked pretty damn good.

And then... Becky wins!!! :mark:

:proud :applause :yes :becky

Great way to start what would become a fairly fantastic show, overall. (Not to take away from the pre-show which was also rather surprisingly good, too)

Re: SmackDown Women’s Championship Six-Pack Elimination Challenge

This match could have easily have been a cluster fuck but honestly, outside of that one bad spot with Natalya and Naomi, the execution of these women was great.

Action all over the place, everyone brought their A game, nice story flowing the entire time. Just really fun all the way through.

And obviously, I have no issues with the winner.

That spot with natalya and naomi was comedy. Naomi just goes to the rope , flip and wait for natalya to put her head into her legs. Thought all the women was great. heel carmella was great.

I'm just here to say that I've been very outspoken that Becky isn't my favorite while still giving her credit for being a well rounded talent. She just doesn't do it for me, but she put in the time and work so congrats to her on her title win. Now, if they would just get their head out of their asses with Carmella and turn Nikki heel I think a Becky/Nikki feud could be really solid.

Re: SmackDown Women’s Championship Six-Pack Challenge

Man reading posts here makes you realize just how misused most of those women are.
I mean, when the person who has the most momentum is someone who hasnt wrestled in almost a year, something is just wrong.

Good job with dat booking WWE.

About the match itself, I want Becky to win but its going to be Nikki.
Wouldnt mind about it if Nikki was a heel but she isn't. I just hope the match it self will be good. Going to be hard to pull that off in a 6 pack challenge.

Now with this being elimination rules let's predict the order of the eliminations and by who.

1.Nikki pins Carmella(Nikki pinning Carmella at some point in this match is obvious.Carmella has got the best of her every week)
2.Bliss pins Naomi
3.Becky taps out Nattie
4.Bliss pins Nikki after Carmella returns and attacks Nikki.
5.Becky taps out Bliss.
