Re: So that Cena/ Styles match

Smarks are ruining pro wrestling.

HEELS ARE MEANT TO CHEAT.

Whats the point in being a heel if you obey all the rules and play nice? All that matters is that Styles won. A guy like Edge, a great heel would cheat to win all his matches, and some of the ways he cheated were outlandish but he's a heel, and he soaked in the heel heat. Its the problem with these indy guys flooding the WWE, their fans just want to see them booked like Superman and crush everyone with ease.

Spot on. Heels winning clean does not garner HEAT. Which is the aim. AJ has to get over as a HEEL. You aren't supposed to LIKE him.

He's seen as a whiny loser to casuals and viewers who have never seen him before so they're limiting his reach.
Good. They're supposed to think he's scum.

Re: So that Cena/ Styles match

The face-heel dynamic is thankfully dead.

It's all about who's entertaining, that's why fans continue to cheer for AJ, Rollins and KO when they're supposed to be bad guys.
It isn't dead.

The issue is the people they are pushing as FACES people inherently just hate. For whatever reason. And vice versa.

So, Reigns should be heel, Cena should be heel etc...

K.O. is really the only one who is hated as a heel because he's so good at playing the role.

Aside from the underwhelming finish, the match was everything I could ask for. Great moves, hot crowd, and at the end of the day, Styles defeated Cena in the long awaited dream match. TNA FTW!

What's this obsession with heels winning clean?
Because it means something when they do like when Razor Ramon defeated Bob Backlund, Chris Jericho when he was the Cruiserweight Champion in 1998, Rusev when he was undefeated going over former world champions or when Owens beat Cena last year.

Nobody remembers that match and it wasn't Bob Backlund of 1978.

People saying this is MotN? Maybe they saw something in this match I didn't but to me, it was okay at best, it had a good few moments towards the end, but overall the match was slow, so slow, I don't expect all matches to be super fast paced spot fests. Bret Hart is like my favorite wrestler of all time so I can appreciate a good technical match when I see it. AJ v Cena had none of that. I didn't see any story play out like I did with Rollins/Reigns. So what ever story there was there I didn't see that either.

Both lacked chemistry in the ring, moves were sloppy. Cena calling so many spots that I could hear even if I had my TV muted ruined it too. Why does he even call the spots so loud, I don't see anyone else as loud as Cena. It was horrible and took away so much immersion. There was sloppiness in places too, and the end was a major let down for something thats supposed to be a 'dream match'. Now maybe I should be happy AJ got a win? Not really, it was a huge cop out for me, Now I guess they could save the real dream match for Summerslam but by that point we know who is winning. Cena isnt going to lose this feud.

AJ Styles needs a huge win and he is yet to have it, he has lost against Jericho, He lost against Reigns, and he lost against Kevin Owens is a throwaway match on Raw. Whats the point of being in the main event scene if you are constantly losing. AJ feels like he is doing the opposite of what stars do when they come into the WWE, instead of working your way up from the bottom, AJ is working his way down form the top. He is falling from the top of a tree until he lands on a branch somewhere at the bottom and that's where he is going to stay.

The audience was good and AJ taking some monster bumps is always fun to watch, also Cena impressed me here too, but overall a very average match that should have been better. They'll now have two or three more matches where Cena wins to make up for his loss because there is no way the man is going to loose more han he wins in this feud....

If people think this is MotN who am I to tell you otherwise. For me it was a disappointment that should have been so much more than what we had.

Loved the match but the final few minutes came across as phony as fuck. Referee was scared to take a stiffer shot and in the end went down from next to no contact, it really bugged me. Cena calling spots for everyone to hear is pretty normal so that's nothing new to complain about.

Very good match though

I enjoyed the match, didn't care for the ending. Just the first referee fuckery of the evening. Like the writers decided to just recycle things a match or two later, nobody is going to notice.

AJ won, the feud continues and Cena wins at Battleground. Then at SS you have the blowoff and while I'd prefer Cena to win I think they'll give AJ a win to make it worth keeping him around.

Maybe I'm deaf or just don't have the sound turned up to blast the neighborhood but I didn't hear either wrestler say a word inside the ring. Sometimes I wish I could be so picky that I had on the headphones to listen to every single noise but then it detracts from the enjoyment of watching. All matches have people calling spots so get over it.

I thought it was a good match, but not quite as good as i expected it to be. My prediction of Cena losing the first match before going on and winning the next two is still very much on... Finish was a bit underwhelming and strange especially given the fact that it was meant to be a straight 1 v 1, but i can't complain about it too much.

John Cena vs. AJ Styles was widely disappointing

I might watch it again soon, but the more I think about the match, the more I distaste it. It had such a big fight feel with an electrified crowd and started with a perspicuous story. As promised, AJ Styles outwrestled John Cena, but Cena's pure strength and Styles' cockiness kept Cena in the match. If they ran with that story, they would have had a compelling match. Instead, they dropped the story and went into total epic styled WWE match mode. It felt fabricated, cliched and maladroit. Cena was rusty, screwing up a lot of spots and being in the wrong position, not to mention climbing to the top rope after he was dramatically selling the Calf Crusher. Just one of his worst outings in a long time.

For the all the hype and hoopla, it was not a great first outing. They could have done much better, but because the paper thin story in the second half of the match, blatant spacing issues (the match was way too rushed at times), an anticlimactic ending, and Cena's rustiness -- this was not just a disappointing match; it was also not very good either.

A really enjoyable match between the two. Sure, it could have ended in a clean Styles win but this advances the feud on to Battleground and probably Summerslam and I know I am not the only one who wants to see these two tangle up again.

Hopefully we see AJ win the rubber match after Cena makes it 1-1 at Battleground.

Liked the match and story with AJ being quick for Cena and having a counter for most things he did. AJ looked like he belonged in there with Cena and had him frustrated unlike most have.

The loud spot calling is the only flaw of the match for me and it could've used a better ending but apart from that it was good.

Still got nothing over Hogan vs. Rock but then again I never thought of this match as a dream match like WWE have hyped it up to be.
