don't know how they can turn this guy if Vince continues to use the long journey mantra.

Wins nearly every match, has never been pinned clean in a singles match, won the Royal Rumble, breaking the record, and breaking a Survivor Series record, but yet he's an "underdog" because he hasn't won the title yet because of outside means. :maisie2

un·der·dog
ˈəndərˌdôɡ/
noun
a competitor thought to have little chance of winning a fight or contest.

Does this say title anywhere? No? Does this mention interference and other silly things? No? Does Reigns have little chance of winning a fight or contest? Definitely not. End of story.

Has he had obstacles to overcome? Sure. Doesn't make him an underdog. Stop presenting him as one.

Reigns vs. Del Rio: Who is more likely to win?
Reigns vs. Kevin Owens: Who is more likely to win?
Reigns vs. Ambrose: Who is more likely to win?

Just answer these questions to yourself. What's the answer to each one? If Reigns somehow doesn't leave Survivor Series with the championship, what will be the reason for that? Did he get bested in a one-on-one competition? I don't mean to give out spoilers, but the answer is no.

That is why he isn't an underdog. So you can keep shouting and plugging your ears about how he hasn't won the title yet. But this is a fact.

There goes my hope of a Reigns heel turn.

Not a bad promo by any means but this portrayal of him is getting silly now, stop going on about his 'journey' or how he's somehow 'overcoming odds', it's part of the reason why Cena comparisons come up.

It has much more to do than his W/L record. Like I explained earlier, the reason that Reigns isn't an underdog because primarily in his journey, the inherent odds are always in his favor. No one assumed that he was going to lose out on being Mr. MITB because of how inadequate he was. He was the favorite to win. The only reason he lost is because he was blindsided by a factor that no one saw coming. Same thing with the tag team match on RAW where Strowman debuted. Everyone was expecting him and Ambrose to win because no one bought Reigns' team losing, especially with him setting up for the Spear.

With Daniel Bryan, everyone knew that somehow, some way, the Authority would do everything they could to make sure Bryan would never win. We all knew the odds from the beginning because of how established they were. We knew he was going to have to climb a mountain that one man would have an issue with doing under his own power. That's what really helped.

Saying Roman Reigns is an underdog because an unseen force COULD screw him over is like saying the Patriots are the underdogs against the Dolphins because Tom Brady COULD suffer an injury that would hinder his performance. The only time Reigns has really been an underdog throughout his whole "journey" was when he had to fight Brock Lesnar. The only time.

When has someone ever beat Roman? I mean in the sense that they are besting him. The only time I can really consider is at Wrestlemania, in that triple threat match. Has Roman lost a few times? Definitely. But there is a difference between losing a match and having someone beat you. It's not black or white, wins or losses.

Am I calling for Roman to lose more? No. Am I calling for Roman to win less? No. I am simply stating that this difference is what makes him NOT an underdog.

Exactly. Can't really understand how people bring up the argument of him ''chasing the world championship for so long'' considering that he's had like ONE proper opportunity at the title.

Essentially, Reigns has been by far the most protected guy on the roster regarding wins and losses in the recent years, even more than current Cena I would say. He is just simply not an underdog by any means.

How can "The Superman", "The Juggernaut", "The Powerhouse", "The Big Dog" be "an underdog" at the same time?

Either he is powerful and dominant or he is the underdog who overcomes the odds and scores upset victories. Being both at the same time isn't believable.

Daniel Bryan was believable underdog. Mick Foley was believable underdog. Rey Mysterio was believable underdog.

Underdog character doesn't fit guys like Lesnar, Sheamus, Cena etc. Reigns too.

This is a great point. Where are the videos for Owens, ADR, and Ambrose? Are they not all fighting for the same thing? But apparently they do not matter?

This is the kind of shit they do that turned the people that are anti-Reigns off and keep them turned off him. And if/when Reigns wins the title Sunday it will not have the desired effect b/c Reigns is just beating 3 people out that do not matter.

Listen, I think the point here is not what is an underdog.

It's has been stated and proved that Reigns is not. He has been screwed, but it's bullshit since he will finally win. He has been protected and EVEN kayfabe wise he's not, by any means, and underdog There's not any emotion at all in his "journey". That sounds familiar...

I think that the important and terrible truth behind this is that he's becoming Cena 2.0

I expect him to overcome incredible odds at Wrestlemania. It doesn't make any sense, but Vince strikes back, baby!

Underdog definition: ''One that is expected to lose a contest or struggle''.

Be honest... when has anyone expected Reigns to lose any type of match? He was the favorite to win at last year's Royal Rumble, he was the favorite to win at WM 31 and he is the favorite to win at Survivor Series this Sunday as well. He is by no means ''an underdog''.

What, you mean a man with superman booking and an underdog portrayal cutting corny promos won't get over with the fans? :vince6

Guy has certainly improved in the ring and in the very rare times WWE lets him cut a somewhat natural promo or make a seemingly natural comment ala "when Roman Reigns is in the house you damn right Cena sucks", he hasnt been so bad but the fans still aren't taking to him out of an easy to read manufacture job without that ability to convey that you are inspirational or have for wrestling high theatrical ability . Im sorry, but when you are getting boos in the south which is certainly the most "play along" region nowadays and really the only traditional one left, you aren't that much of a face period let alone WWE champ babyface. Of course, I dont know what kinda merch or numbers RR is pulling in. Guy is a natural heel I have to wonder if the office just doesn't see that or if they do and make Reigns face out of necessity. Trim down that hair and you have a heel look and people forget, when he was in the Shield he had a very solid trash talk game. Roman isn't at the level yet to where he can lead matches so that clouds being a heel but still he has worked with everyone on many occasions on the babyface side for the main roster.

Not turning this guy heel will be WWE's biggest mistake. They'll just create another Cena and will continue to boo him for the rest of his career! Everyone wants Ambrose to win the title over Reigns, have Reigns turn heel during the match al'a Austion 2001 screw Ambrose and instant heel heat. Turning Ambrose heel will leave us with no over top tier faces! xD

I think Reigns will make a good heel. and its the best way to make people get behind him in the end before you make him a babyface, worked for guys like Michaels, Rock, Austin and Underetaker. And I think it will help Reigns.

Its no secret I really want Reigns to be the next top guy but keeping him face is not the way to start doing it!

I love Roman, but he's not an underdog at all lol. If anybody is an underdog in all this, it's Dean. I knew Roman was going through his tournament matches, but I actually had a sense of doubt for Dean. He loses so often, I wouldn't have been surprised if he'd lost either match to Breeze or Ziggler. I also wouldn't be surprised if WWE swerved everybody and had Owens beat him on Sunday.

Plus nobody in WWE ever gives Dean credit, or acts like he could actually win the title, even when he was #1 contender earlier this year. He got into the Payback main event basically by mistake cos Seth wouldn't shut up and pissed Kane off, and his victory over Seth was seen as an UPSET. Dean was never considered the favourite in that match or any other, people said he was there to eat the pin and that's it.

The only talk Dean gets about possibly being champion is JBL complaining that he'd ruin WWE if he became champion lol, hardly a glowing compliment...
