Re: Worst ending to a PPV ever?
WM 29, Battleground 2013, and Royal Rumble 2014. I don't know if it's just recency effect or what, but damn I can't remember being more appalled than I was with the ending of those 3 PPV's. Funny how they all occurred within a year of each other. They were just AWFUL. The thing is, I never saw that sham at the top of the ramp at WM 29 when it happened. As soon as Cena pinned Rocky, I turned off my TV in disgust. WM 29 was just such a complete waste of a show, outside of Punk/Taker of course. There was just ZERO long term buildup or passion for that event. Brock/Hunter was a shit match with a fucking HORRIBLE finish (seriously, WWE? You pay all this money for Lesnar then job him out in 2 of his first 3 matches back??? To Cena and Hunter of all people, two guys who never NEED to win another match in their career.) Cena/Rock was a shit match with a horrible finish. Jericho/Fandango was a shit match with a horrible finish. The Shield match was pretty good but nothing special and had that "thrown together at the last minute" feel. Bryan was wasted in a nothing tag match. Only Punk/Taker was truly exceptional from that show. How does that happen at WM in this day and age? Doesn't anyone actually care about the crap they put out? The only reason we haven't seen another wrestling boom period since 2001 is because WWE is so inept and incompetent that they can't even have 1 single good all around year from a creative standpoint. Not 1 year. When was the last time WWE had a good all around year, 2005? That's almost a decade. Ugh. WWE was putting out very good if not great television every year from 1997-2005. It seems that after the new generation of top stars (Cena, Batista, Orton, Edge, etc) settled in their top spots, the company went in a downward spiral that it's never been able to recover from. And I don't blame the wrestlers, I blame the writing team for their lazy, nonsensical, bullshit booking and stupid backstage politics. Those two things have ruined the company.

21-1: Thank you Taker for 20+ years of busting your ass to entertain us fans. You were truly a one-off, there will never be another even remotely like, the DEADMAN. R.I.P The Streak.
