WrestleMania 31 - The Ultimate Travel Thread II (Please read OP first!)

Thanks to EVERYONE who contributed in the WrestleMania 30 thread and the OP in that thread 'Abnorman' for creating the thread and idea. His complete and thOrough explanation served as the template for this thread. Here is all the information that we've collected so far for WrestleMania 31. Thanks to 'PoyPoy14 for taking time to color code and format this OP. Thanks to aaaaaaaahhhhhh for creating the attractions map and this resource

1. GENERAL SALE TICKET INFORMATION

  • One option is to forego the packages and book everything separately. There's a trade off here: Value for increased hassle.
  • In general, it's best to be ready to buy your tickets DAY-OF to ensure the best seats. It usually takes a while for things to sell out (Axxess, especially, tends to have availability almost up to the event), but you don't want to get caught having to hit StubHub for tickets at beefed-up prices.
  • PRESALE: There should be a presale on Ticketmaster a few days before the general sale. You will require codes to access this sale. Follow @Wrestlemania and @LevisStadium on Twitter and keep an eye out on this forum and the dirtsheets for all the codes, which will be easy to find.
  • International buyers will have to pick their tickets up at Will Call (not a major hassle this year). US buyers can get theirs delivered. Last year, Ticketmaster added an option for international buyers to print at home for WrestleMania (not RAW).
  • In previous years, people have gamed the system by opening a separate (US) Ticketmaster account and transferring their tickets, thus being able to print 'em out and skip Will Call.

POLICIES FOR WRESTLEMANIA, HoF & RAW:

* Camera lenses cannot exceed 6" when fully extended. No video cameras are allowed.

*For Levi's Stadium, they follow the standard NFL bag policy as well as their own additional security policies. Be advised that the sign/banner policy would most likely be lifted for this event.

  • The Hall of Fame is a long night of speeches and little in the way of action. If you're not that into the history of wrestling, you may get bored. Otherwise, it's a great event.
  • Lots of fans like to suit up for the HoF, but casual attire is fine.

2. TRANSPORT & ACCOMMODATION

FLIGHTS:

  • For flight deals, try Skyscanner.net, Farecompare.com or Kayak.com.
  • Try a few configurations. There's plenty of airports in the US - try breaking up your flight: fly into a hub airport, and then book an onward flight to San Jose, Oakland or San Francisco. Alternatively, try booking a flight to nearby airports and taxi/bus/train to San Jose/Santa Clara.
  • In the USA, flying is often just as cheap (and much faster!) as going by train or bus, so don't assume ground transport will be the best value.
  • Local airlines may have deals: Delta, AirTran, JetBlue SouthWest or Spirit (Oakland Only). Many will charge separately for hold luggage and other perks.
  • Their are 3 airports to choose from : San Fran and Oakland (38 Minutes away from Levi's Stadium) and San Jose (10 minutes away from Levi's Stadium).
  • Unlike New Orleans, you will be able to get to the Bay Area easy VIA Amtrak. Use Code V636 to save 15% off of your travel, expires 8/31

ACCOMMODATION:

GETTING AROUND THE BAY AREA:

  • VTA.org will give you information about getting around San Jose and Silicon Valley
  • Bart.org will give you information about getting around San Francisco and Oakland
  • Caltrain.com will give you information to get between San Francisco and San Jose
  • Be advised, It is 8.5 miles from Downtown San Jose to Levi's Stadium. Both VTA and CalTrans will have service going to and from the Stadium, it is unclear if AmTrak will as well.

3. THE WRESTLEMANIA WEEKEND EXPERIENCE

(These will be made soon)
  • Head to this Facebook page for meet-ups, etc.
  • There's a pretty big Facebook event page made up of (mostly) people from this forum. Check it out here.

MERCHANDISE: Never fear: the WWE will take every opportunity to get money from you. They usually operate a big WWE Store on the stadium grounds with all the goodies. One thing I like (because I always get a souvenir program) is that you can buy program at any time - so you don't have to look after it during an event.

4. BAY AREA TOURISM

  • The Bay Area Maps (all credit goes to aaaaaaaahhhhhh.)
    WrestleMania Travel Map
    Food Map
    Drink Map
    Hotel Map
    Activities Map

  • Firstly, WikiVoyage and Tripadvisor are your friends.
  • You will be driving distance of many popular tourist spots along the West Coast.

(Roughly within a 4 hour drive)

    Napa Valley
    Reno, NV
    Monterey,CA (Pebble Beach)
    Lake Tahoe
    Yosemite National Park
    Sequoia National Park

(Roughly within a 8 hour drive)

    Death Valley
    Los Angeles
    Las Vegas
    Grand Canyon
    Redwood's National Forest
    Portland, OR
    San Diego

FOOD & DRINK:

  • (Area I will need help in filling in for food. The Bay area is known for seafood and San Francisco style burritos. There is a Chinatown in SF and a Japantown in SJ)
  • Drinking age in the US is 21, and it's extremely rare to find any bar or shop that doesn't require ID. For international visitors, this usually means you'll have to carry your passport to bars, etc, as often this is the only form of international ID that will be accepted.
  • Do a bit of research and you can find something a bit more authentic to suit any budget.

    Local delicacies include:

Definally eating:Links to menus inside names of restaurants.
Carl's Jr.: Fast food burgers with unique combinations. Favorites are the Western Bacon Cheeseburger (Onion Rings, Bacon and Smoky BBQ sauce) and the Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich (Green Chilie and Santa Fe Sauce which is a bold mildly spicy sauce.) Haven't ate there since moving back east.

In-n-Out: Fresh fast food burger joint. Personal favorite is the cheeseburger (single or double-double), grilled whole onion, made animal style (extra thousand island sauce, melted cheese and patty is marinated in mustard before grilling) extra toast (bun is grilled), animal style fries, well done (extra crispy) and either Bubble Up (7-Up/Pink Lemonade Mix) or a neapolitan shake (strawberry, chocolate and vanilla shale in one cup)

GHIRARDELLI Ice Cream And Chocolate Shop in SF: Ice Cream Sundaes

Chick-Fil-A: Fast Food chicken sandwich's. Personal recommendation is a Spicy Chicken Biscuit for breakfast, honey on the side or a Spicy Chicken Sandwich with Jack Cheese and mayo on the side for lunch/dinner with waffle fries and lemonade.

BJ's Restaurant and Brewery: American causal fare with hand crafted sodas, microbrew beers and home of the Pizookie, a fresh baked pan cookie in several flavors topped with ice cream. Food is pretty good

Fogo de Chao: Brazilian Steakhouse, all you can eat table side service. Has a world class salad bar to boot.

Iguanas Home of the Burritozilla: SF style mexican street food (tortas, tacos, burritos)

The Poor House: Authentic New Orleans food. I seriously need a po boy and a beignet. Been having withdraws since leaving New Orleans.

    Probably eating:
El Pollo Loco: Mexican style fast food grilled chicken.

Will not be eating but would recommend:

The Cheesecake Factory: Huge portions of everything, plus cheesecake. Recommend the Buffalo Blast (Buffalo Chicken and cheese wrapped in won tong wrappers, deep fried and served with buffalo sauce and blue cheese dressing) Several cheesecakes that I like include the Trimisu, Red Velvet, Godiva Chocolate and Reese's PB.

The Boiling Crab: Seafood: Famous for low country/cajun boil. Do not recommend if you do not eat shellfish.

Red Robin: Specialty Burgers with unlimited fries. Personal recommendation: Blue Ribbon Burger
  • Local eateries featured on Man v Food, Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and other Food Network/Travel Network shows
    http://www.tvfoodmaps.com/

NIGHTLIFE:
San Jose Bar and Grill
Johnny V's
Freddie J's
Dive Bar
Lido Nightclub and Bar
Giza Hookah Lounge

HISTORY & TOURISM:

  • Many visitors will take in Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge/Park, The Apple Store at Apple's HQ among other activities
  • San Fran tourist centre is very LGBT-friendly, with several gay clubs & bars.

5. TRAVEL PACKAGE INFORMATION

  • Each year, the WWE offer several travel packages for people to buy. They include all the major WWE events on WrestleMania weekend and hotel accommodation.
  • The trade off with packages is that they're expensive, but convenient: one relatively stress-free purchase for major WWE events & accommodation.
  • Email travel.packages@wwe.com or call (001)203 359 5182 for any questions
  • Email wrestlemania.packages@wwecorp.com to request to be on the Travel Package mailing list

Congrats to those who got Axxess VIP's and good luck to those looking on the secondary market. It seems you'll have better luck this year because I get the feeling that Santa Clara isn't as hot of a ticket as previous years.

I'm saying this once however and if the behaviour continues people will be removed from the thread; this is a thread for everybody to discuss their travel plans and their vacation in general, even a little bit of booking talk/what you want to see at the big show so long as it doesn't stray into a BTB. This thread is NOT for picking fights over a bunch of stupid crap. Anybody who engages, baits or tries to start arguments will be warned. If you do it again you'll be removed from the thread.

People come into this thread to get excited about their trip and compare plans etc. Let's keep it that way folks.

My travle package arrived! HELL YEAH. It's so nicely made, WWE really goes all out for their travel package holders <3

I now know where I'm sitting for Raw, FLR 8, row 3, seats 1 and 2. Very very pleased with this, it's on the entrance ramp!!

I'm especially happy to have my Axxess tickets in my hands to meet Dean and John <3

In the Cali Dreamin package, it came with our exclusive tickets to the HOF reception and the vinyard trip. The HOF reception is in the same hotel that we're staying in :lol All we have to do is go downstairs!!

I'm also loving the reloadable travel card thing, and the Visa card! Awesome idea.

Shaska, the HOF tickets I'm selling you are fantastic, they're FLR J, Row 2, seats 11 and 12. Basically right at the front.

BTW the Mania tickets themselves are HUGE :lol

Here's some photos I took of tickets and the other stuff in the Cali package cos people won't have seen them. I spoilered them cos they're biggish.

Getting the package and seeing all my tickets and everything has made me 100 times more excited. Roll on the 26th, only 24 days till we fly out!

Looks great!
Only thing bad for me getting my own tickets is that they are all Ezy tickets that I printed off. Not as nice as having the real ticket to keep.
Plus I'm definitely jealous about that HOF reception invite, wish I could do that!

Wow, I can't believe how excited I am now that we're only one week away. My first Wrestlemania ever! I'm 29, and I've been watching since I was 4. I've watched Wrestlemania every year, always dreaming about how cool it would be to one day be there live to see the show.

It sounds cheesy but I legit never thought I'd ever get to go. Life is fucking crazy sometimes. Been through a lot of personal shit since Christmas but I'm here and I'm ready to get my candy ass to California :grin2:

Already saving for Texas next year too. Safe travels to all those already on their way!

I finished my signs :D

Have a look at them haha under the spoiler tag. My drawing isn't the best but I think I did a pretty good job considering!

(yes that's one of those Dean Ambrose prints I bought on WWEShop you can see at the edge of the photo :lol)

#8,915 ·
Looking good! :) How are you packing your Ambrose print to take? I'm hoping that I can slip mine and the Rollins one into my carry on. I'm taking a few flights around other places before I actually get to San Jose, so I don't want them to get damaged along the way.

Check with your provider of your phone is unlocked. If so, grab like a Verizon, T-Mobile or AT&T SIM card when you get over there. That way you can access data and make calls/txts without roaming charges.
Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely look into this!

#10,816 ·
I see a lot of people asking where the WWE will be staying this week. I believe they are staying at the "It's Incredibly Creepy And Rude To Stalk And Bother Them While They Aren't On The Clock For A Show Or Appearance" Hotel which is of course at the corner of "If You Do It You Need Psychiatric Help" Street and "So Leave Them The Hell Alone" Road. Hope that clears things up for those of you looking for them at their hotel or the airport.

#10,820 ·
Agreed. IMO their hotel is their sanctuary. A place where they should be able to get out of the public eye and be able to relax and take some time to recharge themselves.

I would be more interested in if any are going out to any parties. Wouldn't mind having a drink with some of the wrestlers. But other than that, unless it's a WWE sanctioned event I hope people leave them alone. They're people just like each one of us, and are entitled to breathe a little.

17 years ago, my friends and I watched Wrestlemania XIV together eating pizza, drinking beer and thankful our rundown barracks rooms could get PPV's. We swore that 'one of these years, man!', we would get to go to Wrestlemania. Well, it took 14 years to finally deliver on that vow. My friends and I made it to WM28 and have gone every year since, come hell or high water. And in 18 days, we get to feel the joy of doing that for the fourth year running! It's almost here! I'm going bonkers with anticipation!! I'm done making arrangements, everything is paid for. I just wanna go now!!! Anyone else feeling this way?

Got here last Friday and we're having a great time. Spent three days in L.A., went to Universal Studios and Warner Brothers, saw my LA Kings play and saw as much of the city as possible.

Now in San Diego and loving it, what a beautiful place. Have been to Sea World and San Diego Zoo, and went on a dinner cruise last night.

Now having a break on the couch before heading to the pool, then having drinks on a paddlesteamer tonight, and flying to San Francisco tomorrow morning. Alcatraz night tour tomorrow night, then to San Jose on Friday in time for the Triple H VIP signing. I'm loving life right now!

If anyone's leaving Axxess about 9:30-9:40 to head to NXT, PM me and I'll walk with you if that's cool.

Can we please make sure there's no more arguing in this thread? It's my favourite thread on the forum and it's always been so friendly and helpful. If not for this thread, I wouldn't have found somebody to buy my extra Mania chair or my HOF tickets!

BTW I can't remember from last time, but how long after we send in our Axxess picks does WWE confirm them? After they go on sale to the general public...?

So I won't quote those who are on ignore, thanks for a certain some for sending me a DM on Twitter.

Ok, so I checked out the StubHub section, and two things that I have noticed.

1. The $40 seats that were there last time I checked 24-48 hours ago, and there were plenty, were gobbled up and I simply did not check to see if any were still left. IT HAPPENS. I know a few people here did grab some at the $40 price point. Kinda like how there were some Triple H VIPs yesterday for only $250....they go fast when they hit a certain price point. Just because they were not there when you checked does not me they were never there to begin with.

2. According to the StubHub app I have, the cheapest for two in the same row is $108, you may have to buy them as SINGLES, something I suggested way back when looking for seats.

Now, I tried holding my tongue, now I'm going to be vocal. The reason you are here is you are jealous YOU are not the one people are asking questions to and its painfully obvious. You are not the center of attention. You are not getting the so-called rub that you think I'm getting. This is not a Shaska thing either, this is a community thing where a handful of us are contributing and as with anything and everything, needs to be vetted before making a decision on your own. You act like people do not have the ability to do that, sorry. Atleast to me, it's clear that you have some type of Napoleon complex that you are trying to make others look and feel bad. I find it humorous.

Now, you can either be tactful and curb your attitude, or just accept what a majority of the registered posters on here are doing if you haven't ran them away, ignoring you. You bring nothing but negative vibes to this thread, and people have genuine hate for the poster/stalker known as SaraDelRay....you know, the poster that stalks everyones twitter handles here without following them. That right there SCREAMS mental issues, and you for one need some serious help.

Don't bother with a response, you are still on ignore and as of this post, you are dead to me. Deuces.

I knew you were going to try to claim this, so I already prepared. See stubhub sales information below for proof - arranged in order from lowest price sold to highest. Turns out the cheapest single seat in one of these sections sold for $49.00. The cheapest pair sold back at the beginning of December for $54.90 a ticket ($109.80 for the pair). There clearly were not plenty of $40 seats and they certainly weren't gobbled up on stubhub within the past 24 to 48 hours as Shaska is now trying to claim because he was called out. BURNED AGAIN! YOU SIR ARE A LIAR AND HAVE SOME SERIOUS ISSUES YOU NEED TO DEAL WITH. I've posted factual information and backed it up with concrete evidence. You spew lies and bullshit and I'm usually the one to call you out on it. So be mindful of what you post from now on. You are supposed to being helping but I've called you out on numerous occasions with straight up LIES! YOU HAVE SOME SERIOUS CREDIBILITY PROBLEMS AS I'VE POINTED OUT. Lies don't help people. So admit when you're wrong and let's keep it to ONLY truthful information in here. Thank you for your time. God bless!

Flying out Sunday, and can not wait!

New York first and day 2 features RAW in NJ, hoping for a big kick start to our trip, followed by Orlando and Miami. Then Vegas to Anaheim and LA onto the big SAN JOSE weekend.

Gonna be a massive March and looking forward to it, first RAW, first WM and first USA experience.

Extremely lucky to accidentally be near NJ at time of RAW and same with LA so 3 RAWS plus MANIA and HOF. Looking forward to every bit of it!!!!
