They unified the titles at the absolute worst time. If Orton was world champion and Someone Else was the other world champion, they could have Someone Else lose his title to Triple H somehow, someway, and lead up to WrestleMania with Bryan making Hunter tap out to relinquish the gold. They finally unify the two world championships--a move I completely support--and for the first WrestleMania since, God, I don't know... WrestleMania 23?!? Maybe 24?!?... have a reason to have two world championships and two world championship matches at WrestleMania.
But it's true. Batista vs. Orton as the main event is absolutely ludicrous. What were they thinking? Even if the plan was Batista coming back and winning the Rumble and winning the strap at 'Mania... Why in the ever-living fuck is his opponent Randy Orton? And because Orton rarely draws better than adequate heel reactions from the audience, and because Batista is despised at this moment by a major portion of the fanbase that shows up to the events, Batista will almost surely be the true de facto heel in that program and particularly at WrestleMania, I'm guessing.
In a match everyone has seen two dozen times before, which was never good, and always had one outcome--Batista obliterating Orton.
What a clusterfuck.
WWE should issue a formal apology to everyone, simply have a "redo" of The Royal Rumble pay-per-view live on Raw, let's say the night after Elimination Chamber, with a "Raw Rumble Match," have Batista and Bryan in it with Bryan standing alone at the end and have Triple H somehow end up with the championship on the same night. That's the money match right now--especially compared to the complete narcoleptic snoozefest from 2008 or whenever in Batista and Orton. Good God.
