I'm gonna say yes, but only if they take place at the same arena. If I go to a WM and see a match there, I'd consider it a part of the experience, whether it was before or after the fireworks.
Well do dark matches count as being part of Raw? For the live crowd, they do. For everyone watching at home I guess not. But the pre-show matches aren't dark matches, we get to watch them, even if they aren't part of the PPV broadcast.
So I'd like to say yes. They aren't part of the Wrestlemania PPV, but they are part of the overall Wrestlemania show. I think.
I think WWE considers them as such, seeing as how The Miz won the IC title from Barrett there and than dropped it back the next night on Raw. IMO it was just to protect Miz' streak.
the talent in the preshow match get a mania payday so yes technically its part of mania and matches that have been advertised for the main card in the past have been moved to the pre-show on the day (sheamus vs bryan at mania 27 being the most recent example)
speaking of mania preshows the old format they used in the 1990s was cool, you get to see the bushwhackers and heavenly bodies for a second at mania 10
I'd say yes. The wrestlers still get their payday and the match goes on in front of the Wrestlemania crowd in the wrestlemania Arena.
That and if the match was Fandango v Jericho or something, Michael Cole would forever be referring to "Fandango getting a win over Jericho at Wrestlemania".
It's different when you're there rather than watching from home. For example, I was there for the last 3 WMs and will be going to my 5th this year. I vividly remember The Bushwackers winning against The Heavenly Bodies (always thought it was the Beverly Brothers until I looked it up to just make sure. I was 5 years old. Gimme a break haha). However; I don't count that as part of the PPV even though it's one of the moments of the show that always stuck out to me.
Bryan-Sheamus that became a Battle Royal at WM27, the triple threat tag team title match at WM28 and Miz-Barrett at WM29 are meant to get the crowd going, but it is not part of the show in my eyes. Even though I really enjoyed WM10 and WM29 preshow.
The Pre-Show matches only count after WrestleMania 28. That's when WWE started heavily advertising them for every PPV
