I know that, his first of two title wins (as a consequence) was also 2000. The point is, by 2002 Angle was top drawer and a 6 for these scorings, he'd been built as a star and was a massive favourite to win. In fact, had HHH not returned, I think he'd have been down to win it (and he was runner-up anyway).

This might be one for general discussion, but are Roberts and Piper 4's? Were they occasional main eventers?

Jake won nothing in WWE, whilst Piper was only a 1-time IC champion, which was short-lived and not until 1992.

There's an argument for DiBiase, too. He didn't win a proper singles title (Million Dollar title doesn't count!) and only won tag titles with IRS a couple of years later. Admittedly he was a King of the Ring in '88 though, so I think 4 is fair.

I think all 3 deserve 4's because even though they never won any titles around this time all of them were either in the main event or right below it and they would have been main event stars if Hogan would have gotten out of the way and let some others hold the spotlight.

There's also the question of the hours of weekly programming. WWE nowadays needs more 4 and 6 guys than it did in the past due to the sheer volume of programming they produce every week. They need to put people in those 4 and 6 spots even when they're not nearly as over as they should. You should also try taking into account how over they were for their positions on the card. Sheamus and del Rio are great examples of this, both are unquestionably 4, but they're not more over than Piper, Jake Roberts or Ted DiBiase were back in the day. In the 90's there were less spots but the 3 and 4 spots meant way more than they do today, I think.

That's the same reason why Koko B. Ware cannot be a 0. He's a Hall of Famer after all, and even if his induction is somewhat controversial, he shouldn't be in the same tier as Golga, Daniel Puder and Kenzo Suzuki. It's tricky at times but I think that's also why it's fun.

I think DiBiase and Roberts can feel hard done by that they didn't win a singles title regardless.

You make some good points though, I just questioned whether you can have so many right behind the top guys. I suppose in 1990, Perfect, Hart, Michaels weren't there yet (behind Savage, Hogan, Warrior), so this is fair.

Very true and a good follow-up to what randyorko was just saying. I wasn't questioning how over those guys were, just whether they were the next tier down. I think in 1990 they were and were probably still expected to win titles, even though between them they didn't collect much.

Sorry if anyone thinks I'm questioning their scores unfairly or jumping on it by the way, I'm genuinely just enjoying debating this as I think it's a great idea for a thread; keep it up guys!

Now we know 2/3 of this year's Royal Rumble Match, so let's calculate the star power ( again ).

Batista - 6
CM Punk - 6
Rey Mysterio - 4
Alberto Del Rio - 4
Big E Langston - 3
The Miz - 2
Kofi Kingston - 3
Cody Rhodes - 3
Goldust - 3
Xavier Woods - 1
R-Truth - 2
Fandango - 2
Dean Ambrose - 3
Seth Rollins - 3
Roman Reigns - 3
Luke Harper - 2
Erick Rowan - 2
Damien Sandow - 2
Jey Uso - 3
Jimmy Uso - 3

60/20=3 - still very good

Now let's add people, who I realistically think will be the remaining 10:

John Cena/Randy Orton - 6
Chris Jericho - 4
Rob Van Dam - 4
Sheamus - 5 ( I can't decide between 4 and 6 )
Antonio Cesaro - 3
Jack Swagger - 2
Road Dogg - 3
Billy Gunn - 3
Kane - 4
John Morrison - 3

97/30=3,23

This Rumble has a very big potential unless we'll got PTP or Rybaxel over Morrison and Kane...
