Re: Randy Orton vs John Cena - WWE World Heavyweight Championship
To me, this situation reeks of the 2002 Royal Rumble. Jericho was the Undisputed Champion and Rock was his opponent at the Rumble. WWE did a storyline where everybody was assuming Rock would win, and Jericho nearly lost his mind as a result. It was great television, with Jericho interrupting Rock and claiming he wasn't a joke.
Seems like the Authority is (once again) backing Orton into a corner, where he has no one to help him. If done correctly, this could establish him as a strong heel champion heading into WrestleMania with two victories in a row over Cena.
However, I'm also reminded of the 2006 Royal Rumble, where Edge lost the title to Cena less than a month after winning it. The right decision is to keep the title on Orton, but the WWE is infamous for doing the wrong thing to put Cena over.
I'm picking Orton to win, but I say that with much uncertainty.
Speak of the devil and he shall appear...
