Enzo & Cass vs. The VaudeVillians - # 1 Contender Match For The Tag Team Championship

A new era has arrived in WWE, and nowhere is that more evident than the WWE Tag Team Championship No. 1 Contenders’ Tournament Final, to take place May 1 at WWE Payback.

In an eight-team bracket replete with tandems that have greater experience under the bright lights of WWE, two teams that are brand new to the scene — Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady and The Vaudevillains — made it all the way to the final.

To vie for the prestigious opportunity of challenging WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day, The Realest Guys in the Room, Amore & Cassady, upended The Ascension in round one and survived a fight with new nemeses The Dudley Boyz in round two.

Gentlemen brawlers Simon Gotch & Aiden English, meanwhile, advanced to the tournament final by trumping Goldust & Fandango and the dinged-up Usos in the quarter- and semifinals, respectively.

Each team now stands just one more tournament victory away from taking on the WWE Tag Team Champions. Will the trash-talking, thunder-and-lightning pair of Cassady & Amore take one step closer to championship glory at WWE Payback? Or will The Vaudevillains’ meticulous and old-school offense spell success?

Watch the final of the WWE Tag Team Championship No. 1 Contenders’ Tournament, sponsored by Booty-O’s, at WWE Payback, live on WWE Network on Sunday, May 1, at 8 ET/5 PT.
guess The New Day have the day off

Re: Enzo & Cass vs The VaudeVillians - # 1 Contender Match For The Tag Team Championship

VaudeVillians need to go over. They were relegated to a Smackdown debut, they need the win more. Even if Vince and co think they’ll be a failure on the main roster, then give them a quick program with New Day instead of wasting them entirely.

Enzo & Big Cass don't need to be in a program with the New Day. Whilst they may have already rocketed to the top of the tag division, It’s too early to have them chasing the belts. Their over enough that they don't need to chase the belts straight away, at least not while New Day hold them. Enzo & Cass can do their own thing and they’ll have the audience behind them. I know they went over the Dudley’s clean on Raw, but keep their program with the Dudley's going for a little longer.

Re: Why did Gotch move Enzo when he was on the ground?

In all fairness to Gotch, I didn't recognize it right away either. I thought Enzo was just selling at first. It happened so fast that I didn't even realize Enzo's head snapped against the ropes the way it did.

Surprised Reigns's cousins didn't make it through. It would certainly be interesting to see two NXT teams face off for the #1 Contender match, and would definitely bring something new to the tag division.

Wow, surprised they've both made it to the PPV. Surely they're going to go with Enzo and Cass, are The VaudeVillians heels on the main roster?

Pretty sure the Vaudevillians are winning this one.. The Dudley's will cost Enzo & Cass the match to continue their feud and the Villians take the titles from the New Day. Kinda obvious.

Who would have thunk it that the 2 NXT teams would get the Finals match at a PPV in Chicago. I love it. Obviously, both teams no each other very well and I have no doubt the crowd will be into the match. Too soon to do Enzo & Cass vs. New Day IMO. Dudleyz get involved, screw Enzo and Cass, and they build to Extreme Rules between New Day and Vaudevillians.

Oh wow, I was sure this match would take place on Raw, with the winners facing New Day at Payback. Pretty awesome that two NXT call-ups are featured on PPV this soon. When is the last time a #1 contender match took place on PPV? I hope New Day is on the PPV still though, they're too good and over not to be.

As a fan I'd want Vaudevillains to win and go on as Heels to face New Day but chances are they'd inevitably lose while Enzo/Cass would gain more from having a meatier feud against Dudleyz because it continues their momentum.
