Because WWE doesn't know what a serious segment is anymore. All they need for ratings are more dance-offs with Funkasaurus, The Great Khali, and Hornswoggle all wearing bikinis.

Re: Why are they turning Barrett into a comedy character?

He strikes me as the type to play mind games. The role he has now is no good for him. When they first aired his vignettes I didn't know it was coming with the whole "Barrett Barrage". I thought maybe he would keep the look that he had while on NXT. The top coat, the rose, and gold chain were great. I just figured this time around he would have a pair of brass knuckles. The brass knuckles would be something that William Regal would pass onto Barrett. They would be the same brass knuckles that eventually would split the head of Sheamus open, and leave blood of an Irishmen on the hands of an Englishmen. Wade is a villain, and the WWE needs to focus on portraying him in that role.

It was very obvious that it was a last minute segment, the lack of the Highlight Reel set showed that. I think that's what pissed Jericho off about it. Jericho, Barrett and even Miz deserve much better.

Why are they turning Barrett into a comedy character?

Here's a better question:

Why are they turning WWE into a comedy show?

I was a huge fan of Barrett when he debuted in the nexus. but right now i find him incredibly boring and annoying to watch.

I like to think they believe it's some weird way of pushing him by claiming he is a movie star
