Rey Mysterio Jr, Underrated?

Am i the only one who thinks that Mysterio is very underrated on this forum and in WWE

I Found his first WHC reign very enjoyable and very believable, great underdog story with him winning the Royal Rumble..

And other than that he has also been involved in somg great matches and rivalry's over the past 10 years, A Few ;

vs CM Punk (Over The Limit 2010)

vs Jericho (Extreme Rules 2009)

vs Orton (No Way Out 2006)

vs Eddie (Summerslam 2006)

vs Angle (Summerslam 2002)

vs Edge And Alberto Del Rio (Smackdown 2010)

vs John Morrison (Smackdown 2010)

vs Ziggler (Summerslam 2009)

vs Los Gurrerros and Angle,Benoit (Survivor Series 2002)

Anyone else think he's extremely underrated in terms of ring ability?

Re: Rey Mysterio Jr, Underrated?

I hated his first WHC run. I hated his lead up to the title even more with his doing it for Eddie crap. I enjoyed some of his matches in the SmackDown tag division in 02 but I'm not a fan and I certainly don't think he's overrated

Re: Rey Mysterio Jr, Underrated?

Rey Mysterio, Jr. is one of the best babyfaces in the entire history of professional wrestling. In that regard, he is underrated as a lot of fans take him for granted. Now, he's older & his body is broken from years of working his Lucha Libre style. Not to mention putting on abnormal size on his small frame to work in WWE.

My only problems with Rey were his Filthy Animals unmasked run in WCW & him being World Champion in WWF.

Outside of that, for me, he's up there with Ricky Steamboat, Ricky Morton, Tito Santana & all the other top great babyfaces throughout the years.

Re: Rey Mysterio Jr, Underrated?

Rey Mysterio Jr was awesome yes, this Rey Mysterio is still good but nowhere near as good as he was in his prime. He's one of those performers that can make the worst performer look like a million bucks i remember he made Drew Mcintyre look like a star.

Good but not great. Will probably go in the Hall someday. I'll remember him as a solid performer who had an excellent career but I'd never consider him in a greats discussion.

Re: Rey Mysterio Jr, Underrated?

love rey he's one of my favorites of all time, he's just broken now though he needs to retire and have his wrestlemania match with sin cara..but cara needs to severely step up or have Hunico dawn a new luchador mask and build him up as some sort of threat..but i know it wont have the same appeal in mexico

You say that just because you obviously haven't seen Rey Mysterio in WCW and in Mexico. Not great? Go watch some of his matches and then come back here and try to say that again. And if you have seen that, then your post is just stupid and it's obvious you watch only WWE.

I accept Hayley Williams rep.

I like how you assume to know anything about my viewing habits and what I've seen or not. I've been watching Rey since Kevin Nash tossed him like a lawn dart into the side of a trailer circa 1996. I think 17 years is long enough to form an educated opinion on the guy. He's good; not great. Stone Cold is great. Bret Hart is great. Ric Flair is great. Rey Mysterio is good. As I said, even Hall good. But he will never be talked about in the discussion of all time greats.
