Is Del Rio the next "hardcore" star?

I have noticed that throughout his tenre in the WWE he has been predominatly featured (as well as having a good record) in many sort of "hardcore" matches such as last man standing, hell in a cell, and from what I say today, maybe a parking lot brawl? I know you may think that doesn't qualify as hardcore ( which is why I put it in quotes) and that there are others that have also been in these matches and are not qualified as such. Del Rio could benefit from being someone who deals specifically with no holds.barred type matches. I know what you are thinking, that there is no such thing as hardcore in this PG era, and while there isn't blood there still can be a match put together in that fashion. What I am trying to say is I know he's not the next ECW type guy, but will he be the one to take an extra hit?

Re: Is Del Rio the next "hardcore" star?

ADR has performed good in those type of matches, ADR vs Cena was good, ADR vs Christian TLC match at Xtreme Rules was Awsome, had a great match with big show LMS, would love to see him in a street fight

Daniel Bryan was going to win at Wrestlemania but then he took a brogue kick to the face

Re: Is Del Rio the next "hardcore" star?

If anybody fits that role, it's Cena. He does tons of gimmick matches and that's what he works best in.

Del Rio is such a good pure wrestler that I'd prefer he sticks with that. Not to say he shouldn't do gimmick matches but I don't want to see him labeled as a gimmick match performer like Triple H, that's a waste of his technical talent.

What everyone really wants for Christmas:

Totally agree. Let's break down the facts here.

A) ADR is a great fucking wrestler

B) ADR is also great in gimmick matches because...well see point A)

Save the "hardcore" gimmicks for guys who need them. Y'know, the Miz's, the Ambroses, the Barrett's. Guys who might be able to carry a feud from a promo perspective but fail in the "keeping them interested when they step into the ring".

Currently marking for:

Raw: CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler, ADR, Beth Phoenix, Zack Ryder, Brodus Clay.

Smackdown: Daniel Bryan, Christian, Cody Rhodes, Sheamus, AJ Lee.

Impact: Motor City Machine Guns, Beer Money, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, D'Angelo Dinero, Sarita.

RoH: Colt Cabana, Jimmy Jacobs, El Generico, Kevin Steen.

Dragon Gate: BxB Hulk, Masato Yoshino, Low Ki, Chuck Taylor, CIMA, Homicide, Naruki Doi.

SHIMMER: Sara Del Ray, LuFisto, MsChif, Allison Danger, Portia Perez, Cheerleader Melissa, Buggy Nova.

FCW: Kings of Wrestling, Richie Steamboat.

Free Agents: Generation Me, John Morrison, Amazing Red, Daffney, Melina.

Thank you Edge, and heal well Sabin.

We are now witnessing the birth of the Reality Era.

The Men of Wrestling section will be created!

Anyone else think the segment with ADR and Big Show out in the lot was awkward as hell?

I actually thought it was good. It looked pretty real and del rio sold it really well. It could of been better though but for del rio and big show it went surprisingly well.

Re: Is Del Rio the next "hardcore" star?

He's not hardcore per se, but this guy will take crazy bumps to sell a match. My favorite bump of his was at the 2010 TLC where he fell from the ladder in the ring to the tables on the outside. It looked like he died that night.

I was hoping Kelly Kelly would be the next hardcore star
