Antonio Cesaro: U.S. Champion or European Champion?

I'm sure I'm not the only person who's thought of this idea, and I apologize if there have already been threads on this. When Cesaro first became a contender for the U.S. Title, I immediately thought it'd be a great idea to have him win it, and cut a promo the following week where he trashed the belt and reintroduced the European Championship. Eventually, he could have a big feud with someone where they recover the U.S. Title, resulting in a winner takes all type match. Would you rather they had gone in this direction, or if they kept the current angle where he's belittling America and explaining how he refuses to represent certain aspects of it?

Re: Antonio Cesaro: U.S. Champion or European Champion?

Obviously the first option would have resulted in legitimate feuds and establishing both the title and wrestlers involved in the process.

But this is WWE Creative who use 90% of the brain on Cena and the other 10% on everything else

Re: Antonio Cesaro: U.S. Champion or European Champion?

Their main problem is they don't really have any decent American mid-card faces to have him feud with for it anyway. Who are they going to get? Brodus Clay? Evan Bourne when he comes back? Jack Swagger if he turns up to shows and turns face? Mark Henry if he is a face? R-Truth? Ted DiBiase? That's literally it. I'm guessing after their altercation thing their going with R-Truth, but is anyone in the crowd, as patriotic as they are, really that bothered about seeing R-Truth beat Cesaro for a title that means nothing anyway?

On-topic, it really doesn't matter. European title has been dead for like 10 years, I guess they could make some money from re-releasing European Title belts as merch, especially to a European market, but aside from that would be a pointless gesture. An anti-American feud would only work for the WHC or WWE belt imo, nobody gives a shit enough about the mid-card (because it is booked badly) for a feud to be worthwhile.

I think there's a lot of merit to both ideas and a myriad stories could result.

Cesaro is a fantastic hand and babyface challengers could be elevated by strong in-ring showings against him.

I like the European title idea.

Have him switch and hold it for a long time.

Both ideas suck. How about having him lose it and give it to someone more worthy of giving a fuck about? I'm sick of the unoriginal stupid bullshit generic Euro piece of shit heels.

I'd like it as a temporary thing like Jeff Hardy does with the World Title. It wouldn't make much sense for a permanent change though.

Great idea. Have him trash it and bring in a new designed one. It wouldn't officially be The european title ofcourse. Just for looks to satisfy Cesaro. Geez, when is Swagger gonna come to feud with him?

Re: Antonio Cesaro: U.S. Champion or European Champion?

Antonio Cesaro should dump the US title in a trash can and replace it next week with the European Title.

-It would gain him great heat

-There can be few faces who could rise up to the challenge:
a.R-Truth(Loses)
b.Zack Ryder(Loses)
c.Jack Swagger(Jack can turn face since he is an All-American American.)

Doesn't it give you the feeling that someone is slightly offended by his gimmick?

Consequences...
