I went to dailymotion to check out the opening segment of Smackdown this week where Orton cuts a promo and gets interrupted by Del Rio. TBH, I didn't notice anything different from what he usually does. He cut this type of promo when he had just come to Smackdown too. Really wish he could change his character, turn heel and bring back the energy and charisma his excellent promos as the Legend Killer showed.
Face Orton just doesn't work with promos. He is terribly dull. At least when he was heel he could be cocky. Anyone who acts cocky will have energy, and this added energy and fuel to Orton's promos as a heel. Also, he was very into it and came off much smoother and comfortable. Nowadays it seems he just doesn't care while he is a face and his promos suffer more as a result.
As for this promo, it was nothing weird to be honest. He just addressed the crowd a little more than usual.

I call dibs on GTS, Pepsi Plunge and running knee in corner. I am sure Sheamus will take the rest.
You can tell that Orton really doesn't give a fuck about things at the moment, since he's clearly not into being a babyface at all. I'm not a huge Orton fan anyway but I think we'd see a lot more entertaining guy if he turned heel and if he's playing the character he want, he's likely to be more motivated to put on better matches too.
JUST TOO SWEEEEEET. Favourites: Bryan, Wyatt, Young Bucks, BO, Machine Gun KA.
Orton was just doing what all face characters are supposed to be doing.

It's so obvious that he just doesn't give a fuck nor will he until they turn him heel. Cutting babyface promos like that doesn't suit him at all. He knows it, WWE knows it, and all of us know it. Just make him heel already...
He definitely channeled his inner-Mick Foley with that cheap pop haha. He's a good mic worker (which people don't seem to want to accept. Whatevs I guess. Opinions and all..) but as a face he seems disinterested. When he's into his work he's one of the very best including on the mic. He has never been absolutely gifted on the mic but as a heel he knew what to say to get heat which was most important.
So I guess I'm the only one who likes Orton as a face? His promos may be nothing special but his matches sure have picked up a lot in quality ever since his face turn. He's way more energetic in the ring and doesn't have to spend 20 mins applying chin locks.
