There's been three explanations all from the same source: time off due to a TNA appearance, time off to rest his ankle, and time off for shoulder surgery. And no timetable for return or statement from WWE to support any of these theories.

Someone is having fun with the dirtsheets as all three of these things can't happen at once. Next week he'll be abducted by aliens.

Re: Christian Recovering From Shoulder Surgery

Poor guy can't get healthy these days seemingly... all those TLC / high risk matches really did age him, Edge and the Hardys considerably eh, and they pay for it now even though they're all still pretty young.

And that's why, no matter how much of a fuckup I think Jeff / Matt in particular have become, I'll still respect the hell out of the sacrifices they made and risks they took in those matches back during the Attitude Era.

It seems that way. He's starting to fall apart. All of those TLC matches, all of the wrestling in general for so many years, appears to finally be catching up with him in a major way these past couple of years starting with the pec tear almost exactly two years ago right now.

I think all three reasons are true. A house show report from... I think it was early July?... Said Christian was favoring his ankle and hobbled out of the ring a bit, and it didn't seem to be part of the act at all. At certain points following a rather badly injured ankle, the constant swelling of the ankle combined to continual wear and tear following injury necessitates some time off or at least a good deal of caution in dealing with it. The time worked well in relation to his TNA appearance, as Vince kind of wanted him off WWE television leading into that, and since Christian was getting some time off to rest and stay away from WWE's shows for a little while, the inflammation and nagging problems in his shoulder was evaluated and determined to require surgery... So Christian and WWE thought, "Well, I'm taking time off, anyway... Why not get this fixed?" Not at all surprising, considering everything. It's almost like Cena having his elbow and arm surgery for bone spurs right at the beginning of the six-week break in pay-per-views, it's simply ideal timing to get something done to fix one's body some.

Why? He's still putting on great matches. I'm sure he could go another 2 years or so.

Re: Christian Recovering From Shoulder Surgery

I just hope to see him wrestling a TLC match for the world title in december. Now that Punk is heel it could be also a wwe title match since he was the one who "took Christian out" before Wrestlemania.

THE GOAT!!!

It's plausible but with the Cena elbow surgery, WWE.com is giving fans daily updates on his recovery time. If the same thing happened with Christian and he had surgery requiring a few weeks off, I think that WWE.com would have mentioned it or at least written him out in storylines. Christian was on camera once since SummmerSlam and his injury was barely made in passing. Usually, WWE doesn't ignore absences and they completely ignored Christian's. He's a big enough name that something would have been said and a timeline of return would have been estimated. Also, it took a month for his shoulder surgery to surface and a week after his Smackdown appearance? That's a very unusual length of time for an obvious injury to go unreported. The ankle injury is easy to hide with a brace, but the shoulder is harder to get away with.

Which again, leads me to think that this is all a big storyline. Creative had to come up with a way to keep him off TV until mid/late October so they are trying ways to get people talking about Christian without really making anything official. I'm usually not a fan of the it's a work excuse, but it seems like that's exactly what is happening. Just like Matt Morgan worked an angle of his absence with TNA online, I could easily see WWE working an angle with a missing Christian. Which is in line with what Wrestling News World has reported everytime a reason for Christian's absense is leaked. They've continued to hold the position that WWE is trying to minimize Christian's impact in TNA and come up with reasons to sell the fans and TNA on his prolonged absence and yet this source hasn't been published elsewhere yet.

Re: Christian Recovering From Shoulder Surgery

Saw this on Facebook. I wish him a speedy recovery. He's had quite a few wear & tear injuries these last few years.
