If you payed attention to Rollins and/or Ambrose specifically and still got the impression that Reigns was the dominant force in those segments then it furthers the point that those beatdowns postioned Reigns as the big dog. The difference between me and most is that I feel Reigns should be put in the positions he's been put in because I feel he has the most star qualities of the three.
^This is something that's probably very hard for some people to see, but at this point this is the key to the difference. Reigns is going to be the WWE's pick for the top guy if he delivers and is going to stay at the top for a while. However, both Ambrose and Rollins have more than enough talent as well as apparent backing from the WWE to stay at, or near the top themselves.
With Punk rising to the top the way he did through the indies as well as Bryan, the WWE know now full well how to book the next super-popular fan darling and they have that guy in Rollins.
The only guy I'm only somewhat worried about is Ambrose, but I think he's always going to be an upper carder as well. He has a character, can talk and is the Roddy Piper/Jake Roberts kind of heel that Vince likes. He's gonna get his major programs as well. Probably may not hold the WWE belt multiple times, but I think he'll get some good programs down the road.
