While I own a bunch for the NES and SNES, I haven't put much time into them to really see what's good or bad, so I'll start with:
3. WWF WrestleMania 2000
2. WCW/NWO Revenge
1. WWF No Mercy
Not much needs to be said as most people know of the greatness of No Mercy. The other 2 games are essentially the same in terms of gameplay, but the improved story/career mode in NM places it ahead of the other 2, though the roster for WCW/NWO Revenge does make me
3. WCW Mayhem
2. WWF Smackdown
1. WWF Smackdown 2
Mayhem back in the day was one of my favourites. Doesn't hold up as well as the SD games though, but like Revenge on the N64, the roster is pretty awesome. Smackdown is great for incorporating new match types that we either hadn't seen in WWF/WCW games or hadn't seen since the old 2D games on NES/SNES that weren't exactly great
. Smackdown 2 takes everything SD 1 did well... and improves it. More matches, bigger roster, faster gameplay, better career mode (first year of it incorporating actual storylines from the WWF in 2000 was awesome, then it turns into what we see today as "Universe" mode, except this kept my interest for a LOT longer).
3. WWE WrestleMania XIX
2. WWE Day or Reckoning
1. WWE Day of Reckoning 2
WM 19 isn't particularly good, but I needed 3 and the others are worst (WM 18, Crush Hour if it counts lol, Legends of Wrestling). DOR is fucking awesome, and has one of my favourite story modes ever as you start off as a nobody wrestling in front of nobody, moving up to house shows, then choosing your brand (Raw or SD) and going to either Heat or Velocity, then finally getting to Raw or SD and building up to WM. Gameplay is really good, though the difficulty at times can be frustrating. Funny, games now aren't hard enough, but here it was almost TOO hard on hard mode in certain matches. DOR 2 though gets the balance absolutely PERFECT, and the story mode actually continues from the first game which is something I've been praising for years. Weight detection is great here, and while the match types didn't live up to the PS2 games at the time, its still a tremendous game and is in my top 3 wrestling games ever regardless.
3. WWE Raw
2. WWE WrestleMania 21
1. WWE Raw 2
Again, Raw isn't good but I needed 3. In fact its fucking terrible. One of the worst WWE games I've ever played. WM 21 was the last WWE game released on the original Xbox, and year it was ok, but it was also pretty dull. It wasn't really FUN to put the game in and play. Story mode is ok but I never wanted to replay it. Raw 2 was released in the middle, and was a monstrous improvement on Raw 1. Faster gameplay, better gameplay in general, incredible roster (one of the best), more matches types and while it doesn't hold up as well these days, I had a TON of fun back in the day. Season mode is similar to SD 2 and again held my interest for a hell of a lot longer than today's Universe mode could ever dream of.
3. Rumble Roses
2. WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2006
1. WWE Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain
Firstly, I don't have Fire Pro Wrestling. It was never released over here, and while it was available in certain places in Europe with the English language on it, its hard to get hold of and always expensive
. Anywho... Rumble Roses! Never heard of this game until a few months ago. Plays very similar to the WWE games (same engine I do believe?), but features a bunch of big tit girls in revealing outfits (for those of you who enjoy that). Very fun game which still manages to play differently enough to the WWE games to be considered a clone of the WWE games, just a shame it didn't at least clone the match types lol. SVR 06 is my favourite of the SVR series. Took what SVR started and improved where it needed to be, and took out some stuff that didn't work (those mini games before matches being one). Great gameplay, good roster, good story mode, GM mode. Yey. HCTP is just awesome. SVR 06 is more polished, but the roster for HCTP is sooo much better making it more fun to play at times, and the story mode is better. Still very close for me with which is better.
Won't bother going any further as from here on its just the same games (WWE and TNA wise) on the next gen consoles, and there aren't that many to really bother ranking (08-13, and really only 2 are any good).
