Which is probably why they jumped straight from what, the end of 1998 (I don't recall the last moment in the game), all the way to WWF buying WCW (among a quadrillion other reasons).
On a related note, it would be silly of them to "finish off" the AE as some have suggested. They already ended the story so to speak, so they would have to essentially tell the ending again (with Vince buying WCW/ECW). And from a marketing perspective, what would they say? "More Attitude"? "the rest of the Attitude"? "Attitude: Part II"?
If they were to do something AE-related again, it would be interesting not for them to just do more WWE/F stuff from the time, but also include a WCW roster. But again, it raises marketing issues--WWE 13 was just as much Monday Night Wars as it was Attitude Era, so there would be no good way of building the game around the war. Actually now that I think about it, it would be interesting to do the Invasion angle, but include some of the WCW stars who didn't make the cut in real life. However, I'm sure there are a million things preventing them from doing that (legally speaking).
