Warzone was my first PS1 game. I loved it so much at the time. It was the first time I'd ever seen a CAW mode and had a blast trying to create WWF legends.

For the longest time I was a huge fan of WrestleMania: The Arcade Game. Had it on SNES and Genesis and played the hell out of the game. I found the mayhem moves (I believe that's what they were called) like Doink's hand buzzer and Razor's chains entertained me. Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon were my two favorite characters to play as. Took me forever to finish the World Wrestling Federation Championship mode.

Also, loved LJN's (love and LJN in the same sentence, gasp) Royal Rumble & Raw titles too.

Been on a roll dusting off some of my PS1 titles earlier today I decided to put in SmackDown 2: Know Your Role. And I will admit I got my ass handed to me in two of the three matches. First match I played with me as Rock vs Benoit and I won via pinfall. Second one was me as Jericho vs HHH and lost via KO. Third was me once again me as Rock facing off against HHH one more time. And just like the Jericho match, I lost via KO. Playing it on the PS3, I kept trying to do the control scheme from WWE 12/13. That was my big downfall and I forgot how fast paced the gameplay is.

I'm finding the game enjoyable, even after all these years. Just getting used to the controls again is going to suck. Between trying to move with the analog stick, hitting square to strike and triangle for a finisher. Gonna be a fun little challenge to go back to the old style.

I brough Smackdown just bring it and know your roll for £1 the other day. Haven't played them yet but this thread makes me want to. I wasn't in to wrestling until I saw a played these with a mate when I was like 10.

was probably my favorite wrestling game. The road to wrestle mania feature was so great. The gameplay was rather simple. It had a great list of wrestlers. great moves..

Wow this brings back so many good memories. Played Revenge and No Mercy religiously. Did also get into the first Smackdown game, but it had nothing on No Mercy.

Having never read any reviews or opinions on the Wrestling games, it's amazing that most agree that No Mercy was the best wrestling game ever.

I seem to be repeating myself talking about No Mercy in all different places lately, but you're 100% right Juzzyfizzle. Even without reviews etc, a whole host of us look at No Mercy as the peak. I think it's because of how quickly it just ended the series makes us look at it even more fondly.

I had forgotten this thread, but lately I've been thinking a lot of my childhood for some reason and one memory I keep going back to was sitting in our back room (where the 64 and PS were kept,) and playing WCW Revenge on a winters afternoon with the rain hammering it down outside. Even now writing that, I got a nostalgia pit in my stomach for times like that. I was probably only 11 or so.

The little things I loved in these games were as small as the sounds of moves being hit on weapons, such as an evenflow DDT onto a ringbell was beautiful, haha. I can't remember which game it was, but one of them gave you the option to make a belt and keep track of the title defences and former champions. I don't know if I'm the only one, but something like this was really great for a multiplayer game for me. We used to play it with our friends, and my brothers, and we could look back at the match results and stuff. It made hardcore matches like Prince Albert VS a custom Raven even more interesting. I don't play online so I really miss this.

It's settled, discussions like this settles it, I'm going to fire up an emulator in the new year and begin playing No Mercy/Revenge again. Classics.

Interested to have a look at the old PS and PS2 games aswell on an emulator.

Just got Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain.

Made myself a create-a-wrestler right off, but noticed my starting attributes were really low compared to previous Smackdown games. I googled to see what the deal was, and found out I had to win matches in season mode to get more. No big deal, Season mode it is!

So I take my new dude there, noticing his stats are awful compard to everyone else. Some of the divas were even tougher than my guy.

Well, hopefully it doesn't make a diff in matches right~? Well it does, a huge difference.

Fought Rico for my first match but it was really hard. Well not way hard, just harder than I would've thought. So my next Smackdown show, Undertaker tries to punk me out in the back so I'm like fuck you man! So he threatens to hunt me down and hurt me. :P

Didn't care until I noticed they booked me in a no countout match with Undertaker

I saw his OP stats. . .knew I was F'd if he was really that much better than Rico.

Soon as the match started, was obvious he was going to win. It was basically a squash match until I managed to get outside the ring. I ran up the ramp but there was nowhere to go. Undertaker just beat on me for 15-20 minutes. . .Chokeslam after Chokeslam, Tombstone after Tombstone, until my guy's face was covered in blood.

I managed to mount enough offense. . occaisionally, to whittle his health down. I was up there for like 25-30 minutes getting him to red. Getting maybe 5% of the offense in the whole time :\

So I run back to the ring, ready to clothesline him then do Sweet Chin Music, my finisher. But then I realize it's when he's groddy and I do it from behind, not when he's on the ground (dunno why I thought that. Or at least for some reason the game didn't let me do it).

So I risk a ground pickup to go for the Rock Bottom, but he gets up and grapples me

I desperately hammer counter and get in a low blow! Then I'm like fuck this! And hit the buttons to steal his finisher, and nailed him with the Last Ride, dead center of the ring. My guy stumbled over and fell on top of him for the 1, 2, 3 pin! God damn was that hard!

Fun ass game though. . .that was just my second match. Next time I think I will just take a loss. . .or I need to set match limit to 20 minutes or something. That was brutal.
