Re: Official WWE 13 Thread
Royal Rumble is most definitely PPV of the Universe contender for sure, actually it was probably the PPV of the Universe so far. What a great show from start to finish!
Absolute epic opener between Kassius Ohno and Austin Aries for the Light Heavyweight Championship! Ohno has now held the Light Heavyweight Title for about 140 days and his momentum bar is maximum. He's been a great holder of the belt and has had some epic matches and feuds with the likes of Austin Aries and Dean Malenko!
We then got a pretty standard Tag Team title match in which the New Age Outlaws retained there belts once again, no tag team has been able to beat or trouble the Outlaws, will be interesting to see where they go from here through out the road to Wrestlemania and see who can try and take the belts off them.
Contender for match of the night was up next between Daniel Bryan and Benoit. Damn this was epic. I thought it was over round about the 11 minute mark when Benoit locked Bryan in the Crossface but he managed to get out of it and a few back and fourth exchanges ended a few moments later when a bloodied Benoit tapped out to the No Lock. Absolute classic.
Seth Rollins retained his European Title, once again no titles changing hands at the PPV. Jericho put up a decent fight but Rollins was just too good in the end as he has been through out the Universe mode. Another lengthy reign with the belts too, about 120 days for him. A few feuds building for him going into the Wrestlemania season too which is good.
Surprisingly, the second best match of the night was the Intercontinental title match between the champion Batista and AJ Styles. This wasn't meant to be a particularly long match but AJ Styles made it that. His quickness caused problems for the champion but in the end the pure power was enough for Batista to retain the belt, a great match between the two!
The penultimate match of the evening was the Undisputed title match. The Rock was going into the match the heavy favourite, Cactus Jack had been in a few Extreme matches leading up to the PPV with Dean Ambrose and wasn't in the best shape. Kurt Angle had the momentum but not as much as the champ. He started off well though Angle and was taking it to Rock early on. Cactus Jack wasn't in the match at all and in the end it was two Rock Bottoms and a Peoples Elbow which sealed his fate and saw The Rock walk out of the Rumble with the belt. Angle wasn't pinned however.
Then came the main event, the Royal Rumble. It started off brilliantly, we got Triple H and Sting the opening two and within the opening 10 the whole of the nWo were in the ring and dominating. Dolph Ziggler then came out and eliminated two men and ended up lasting a very long time. The surprise of the match was most definitely Antonio Cesaro who had a very strong showing eliminating Hogan, Goldberg and Roman Reigns before being eliminated by Bret Hart.
The final four in the ring were Stone Cold Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart and Dolph Ziggler, I didn't control any of the four as I wanted to see how those four would pan out. I haven't used Ziggler much in recent months, he did have the Light Heavyweight Championship in the early stages but hasn't done much since but he had a superb showing in the Rumble and may get a push out of it.
Stone Cold was the first to go when a Sweet Chin Music out of nowhere took him by surprise and saw him fly over the top ropes and down to the mat below. Shawn was next to go, Bret Hart and Ziggler working together to eliminate him. It was down to a bloodied Bret Hart who had been in there since he was drawn at 20, Ziggler had been there since number 11. A great back and fourth encounter, Ziggler gave Hart the Zig-Zag and I thought that was it but Bret Hart managed to cling on to the apron when Ziggler threw him over the top rope, Hart eventually eliminated Ziggler and got his golden ticket to the Wrestlemania main event where at the moment he will be meeting The Rock.
Bret Hart surprisingly has now won Money in the Bank and the Royal Rumble. Quite surprising really.
