You don't get cutscenes if you edit the matches yourself. You have to play through the card the game gives you.

Yeah I edit the matches I detest seeing on my cards.

So much for our universe then. Disappointing. Looks like I'll have to make some more people inactive to get the cutscenes.

For some reason, I fear too much simulating matches will have a negative impact on the game (i.e. more freezes or glitches). I skipped like two weeks without playing any matches because the main events include lower/mid card wrestlers.

Don't know why you would think that. I simulate nearly all matches that don't involve my favorites or my CAW and I've never had the game freeze once. That might be the reason why I'm not getting many cutscenes though.

No, Sheamus seems to have completely forgotten about Randy Orton RKOing twice in the match.

Ref controls don't quite work, because providing you instantly go back to impartial after you've hit a finisher on someone, you'll have another finisher within a minute to do with as you please. It's very fun though, for some reason controlling the count on count outs and tag team partner double stuff appeals to a very boring part of me.

Yeah that's my biggest problem with ref mode. I can hit a finisher, do 5 taunts, and have another finisher right after and repeat.

I've gotten a surprising amount of messages from players online thanking me for fair referee'ing. I feel sad that it's a rarity to them. I just do it to moderate matches, and be entertained by other people's performances.
