^Now you have me on a random youtube cycle of watching crazy awesome videos of old games!!! Grrr! Haha
I'll probably love WWE '13, but man, I wish we could go back to the freedom of this here:
I've had every game since WWF Attitude but I've never actually known WHY or HOW so much was changed a few years into the SVR phase.
Can anyone explain exactly what happened?? Why'd the engine change so much? All cause of next gen (SVR '08)?? I feel they should've been able to do more with it, than take away so much.
If anyone has a full explanation to why it happened, not just cause THQ and Yukes are lazy (which I'm sure is a big part of it), but what exactly changed and why? Did they start a new team to develop or has it always been the same team?
I know Bryan Williams is fairly new I think his first WWE game was 2011 wasn't it? Which is when we started seeing things change for the better even though he doesn't have THAT MUCH control, but he's very vocal.

This isn't a huge deal but I really wish they'd implement a system where you could download CAWs from past games. Remaking Santa Claus and Hitler every year can become a bit of a drag.

It was a combined fan and developer movement to create a more real experience in the game. The arcade feel was abandoned for stamina, weight class limits, ultimate control moves, moveset styles, and creating an experience that you see on TV. It is a smart movement from a sports' game perspective, but took away a lot of fun. It hurt the game value while trying to improve the realness.
I'm all for a more realistic game, but I feel that they could have left stuff like backstage roaming, jumping off the fist, and crazy weapons in and it would still be a real and entertaining experience.
I don't know if my local GameStop is doing a midnight release of it, probably not. But I wouldn't go anyways, never been a big fan of midnight releases for anything (same goes for Black Friday and day after Christmas crap).

Pardon me for asking, but uhhh, you play as Hitler? Tell me he's just a punching bag...

For sure. For WWE '13 and the big daddy, the game of the year, AC III.

Maybe a WCW theme? Then again, Vince would bury all the WCW wrestlers and make WWE midcarders higher rated than WCW Main Eventers so that won't happen. Will probably just be the norm, current roster with a few legends.
I was just about to purpose a WCW game for next year. Keep the current WWE guys, drop the attitude era guys (most of them, keep some as legends) and add WCW guys from 96-98.
Like you said Vince would never do it because he buries WCW every chance he gets. Still can't get over it 11 years later.

It's not just that, content gets taken out and features in the game get ridiculously small upgrades.

Why do that when they can just bring them back next year as DLC ?
WWE would have a problem putting Hogan and Sting in the game, and you can't have a game based on WCW without those two.
