Re: WWE '12
So I finally got WWE '12 this week and honestly, I'm sick of it already. I'm going through the RTWM mode and by God it is one of, if not, the worst in the series. I've reached the Triple H storyline and like previous years, it's a chore for me to complete.
The main reason why RTWM sucks isn't the gameplay which is very repetitive as it requires you to do nothing but beat down an opponent for several minutes and then press the Y button when told to. From there you just watch a cut scene. No I'm not complaining bout that, cause the cutsceb=nes are cool and make it feel like a real WWE show. The reason why RTWM is a pain in the ass every year is because we're made to sit through each and every year hours upon hours upon hours of poorly acted scenes. I don't know if the real wrestlers lent their voices for the game, but could they act as if they are somewhat interested in it? Listening to the dialogue in this game just make my ears bleed. The storylines aren't bad (oh who am I kidding, they're awful) but they would have been somewhat enjoyable had the acting not been so piss poor. Right now I'm just playing it so that I can unlock everything. But incorporating three different storylines into one sounds like a cool thing on paper but the way THQ did it, it just sucks.
Moving onto gameplay. How is it? The same as last year only thing time instead of using the right stick to perform grabs you now use the A button. The gameplay isn't smooth and crisp as THQ hyped it up to be. WWE '12 gameplay reminds me of SVR 2008. It's so slow, sluggish and you'll spend more time kicking and punching away at the air more than your opponent. Also the graphics completely blow and are about 5 years behind. None of the character models in this game look good. Some look decent but I won't call any of them good.
Now bear in mind this is just initial reaction and I'm not much hours removed from the dreaded RTWM so for now I give this game a 3/10. I still haven't touched Universe or any of the Create modes but this game just hasn't made a great first impression on me at all.
