Whilst the game isnt a fail it's not exactly extraordinary tbh. It felt like a carbon copy of SVR 2011 to me. With that said the game is still pretty enjoyable and the creativity is immense but the game has its fair share of glitches. The RTWM was really lackluster as you don't really get to choose who you play as. Overall though its still enjoyable.
Haven't played it, but I got bored with SvR games after SvR 2010. 2011 was lame IMO, I still think that SvR 2007 was the best wrestling game made (I only played SvR 2007-2011, didn't had the chance to play Here Comes the Pain, unfortunately).

Re: WWE 12 a fail?
main thing that annoys me is your opponent gets up way too early especially in matches like triple threat or tlc when you have destroyed your opponent but still they get up pretty soon after. Also why is it you can have a 6 man ladder match but you cannot do a three way tag ladder match. This is why another games company should get the gig.

Since SVR 2010 THQ seems to have followed the same formula and gotten complacent and each game seems to be the same with a few added bells and whistles but still there are morons like me who are willing to buy it regardless of the fact that i'll get bored with in a week or two. One thing they could do though is expand the WWE Universe card. I mean with all these idea's in my head it's a little hard to stick to 3 or 4 matches per show per week especially when the PPV spews out a completely random card.
After the branding change from the previous Smackdown vs. Raw series I was expecting a major overhaul - which was delivered in some aspects. The return of the classic controller layout and move interruptions were big plus points for myself. I also found myself a massive fan of WWE Universe 2.0 - although there is still plenty of room for improvement.
I've never liked RTWM - I hate being forced to control a specific Superstar down a linear storyline. I yearn for the return of WWE Smackdown 2: Know Your Role in terms for the Season Mode implemented there - however much more up-to-date and combined with Universe Mode. The online mode is useless and should just be scrapped - instead of producing a mediocre product the programmers should just enhance the games strengths.
When was the last time new matches were introduced? Bring back the Slobber Knockers, Bra & Panties, Triple Threat Tag-Team, Special Referee. Remember when a hardcore match could begin in the ring and wind up in the streets? The games seem to subtract and subtract with every new release. It makes me think that maybe instead of an annual release the games should come out every other year. But that wouldn't make them as much money, would it?
No, and I agree with what Cactus said. The game may have obvious flaws, but it's still a great game with alot of replay value in the form of the Universe Mode. I got the game on release date, and I still play the game almost daily to this day - so in my eyes it's not a fail.
