Fair enough, I guess. I'd say MK 9 is likely better than this will be as well.

I'd like to try Skyrim, but unfortunately, I feel like I'd be completely lost since I know absolutely nothing about the Elder Scrolls universe.

Yeah MK 9 was epic. Also Skyrim doesn't follow the story if I recall. Either way it makes no difference as they never link into the previous games, Oblivion didn't either.
