Re: **OFFICIAL WWE SmackDown! Vs Raw 2009 DISCUSSION THREAD**
Pretty good roster and the stats seem accurate but I dont know that it will have so many players because they seem to try and focus on gameplay, entrances, weapons and match types more then putting in a big roster.

Re: **OFFICIAL WWE SmackDown! Vs Raw 2009 DISCUSSION THREAD**
In 08 he is only like 85-87 isnt he, I highly doubt even as a legend he would reach 99.
I would love to see Tazz as an unlockable legend but not in his WWE attire and stuff but in his ECW attire.

Re: **OFFICIAL WWE SmackDown! Vs Raw 2009 DISCUSSION THREAD**
Thanks guys for the comments on the roster i'd like. I knew when I was typing it that Flair was very high - what the hell i'm a huge Flair mark, and he is the "best wrestler to ever lace up a pair of boots" it would never happen, but he SHOULD have that high stats. I'd love to see quite a few of the legends I mentioned in the game.
Some points I'd like to see them improve on:
First of all this years game had better game play but was a backwards step feature wise from the last game, and it had little to no replay value. Therefore many of the suggestions aim to improve this.
+ Legends +
- Put the "legends" in the game that are inducted into the Hall of Fame that Wrestlemania the roster is decided. Don't always put random ones in the game. Putting each years Hall of Fame inductees into the game would give each year's game a unique roster of Legends and give people more reason to buy the game each year. It seems much more logical to do this.
- Having said that there are a few Legends people will always want to play as: The Rock,Stone Cold etc. These should of course also be included.
+ Extras +
- Put back alternative outfits for a few characters. At least: Kane masked,JBL Suit,Stone Cold with Jacket etc.
- DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT - As the prominence of the internet grows in the gaming industry, it would be great for the people with the game; while at the same time benefiting the producers cash wise. I realize they are busy with other projects and start the next wrestling game soon after the last one is finished, but they could perhaps take a few days out, half way through the lifetime of the game to create wrestlers who have joined since the game was made - more legends from past years, more alternative outfits, new CAW parts,Old Arenas etc.
+ General Gameplay +
- For people who play the game regularly, the best parts of the game (especially on multi player) is the back and forth action, such as reversing an opponents move into one of yours, reversing a punch and punching them back. It adds excitement and an element of realism.
What would be a great addition in my opinion, something which has never been done on the game previously is to be able to reverse a pinning moneuver. This could work simply: i.e. you press R2 to reverse a grapple and you pin them instead, or (which I think would be better) work it much like submissions. What this would involve is balancing the wrestlers weight.
For example: if you reverse a sunset flip, you stand there and there's a struggle as there is in actual wrestling whereby the wrestler going for the pin is trying to pull the wrestler back for the pin, but the wrestler that's getting potentially pinned has to pull their weight backwards to prevent the pin. Therefore the players would use the right analogue stick to alter their weight. If both players move the analogue stick in the same direction, the pin attempt works, and if they move them in different directions (i.e. their weights are in different directions) the pin fails and the player being pinned, pins the player attempting the pin. It sounds complex, but it's actually very simple and would work wonders in the game. In the same way, players could flip each other over and pin backwards and forwards, again as happens in wrestling.
On the same subject of pins, it'd be good to be able to get a pin fall over a wrestler with a quick roll up ever so often. As the game currently is, you know you'll never get a pin fall with a quick roll up unless the opponent is damaged. It'd be a nice feature if every (for example) 1/100 roll ups selected randomly pinned the opponent regardless of
their damage. This again, in my opinion would add an element of realism to the game. It'd be nice to just generally see more chain wrestling & back and forth action.
- Currently when wrestlers interfere in a match, they come to the ring for a minute, taunt and leave. This is utterly pointless. If a wrestler interferes it should boost the odds of the other player winning. The interfering player should attack the opponent of whoever is on their team, and follow them around making it difficult to win - ESPECIALLY in no DQ matches. They could distract the referee if there is a pinfall attempt, get a weapon etc.
This could possible controlled the same as a manager. In DQ matches they should come in and attack a few times and then leave so as to not get their stable member disqualified.
- Have the wheel for selecting a weapon on EVERY type of match instead of just ECW Extreme Rules. It is much better being able to select your weapon. Next time, let the action continue while a player is selecting a weapon. The action stopping is annoying. Instead of a big wheel, have a small one appear in the bottom corner, and then allow everyone to carry on fighting.
- Bring Back Special Guest Referee - It was a good mode and was really missed this year. The WWE has quite a few of them - more than table matches, which haven't taken place regularly for years. They're good for multi player and a decent game mode.
- Add Tag Team Turmoil - There are no real challenging exhibition matches, and very few modes containing lots of wrestlers. For those who don't know, "Tag Team Turmoil" involves lots of tag teams fighting, and when one team is beaten another team comes out. This would be a good challenging tag team mode. Perhaps add lumberjack matches as well where a random selection of wrestlers surround the ring, and then obviously attack anyone who leaves the
ring. Surely that'd be fairly easy to do?
- Make a longer Ironman mode - surely it's easy to do this, you just keep the clock going and keep the counter running, it can't take up much extra memory. I don't see why they can't do this?
- MORE difficult - it's ridiculous that it's still very easy to beat wrestlers on Legend difficulty with the AI settings put right up to max. On all other games, "Expert" type difficulties are really hard. They also need to make the royal rumble harder to win. It's far too easy to eliminate people now. Perhaps they could make it so that a character has to have a certain amount of damage before they can be eliminated.
- Make sure cruiserweights don't even attempt to pick up heavier opponents - they rarely do in actual wrestling. If you are facing someone with a higher weight class, the moves that aren't logical (such as suplex's, powerbomb's etc.) should be replaced with quick moves such as a kick, punch, swinging ddt etc.
- Have wrestlers come down to the ring with both belts if they are a double champion - it's a simple change that would make a big difference.
- Is it not possible to be able to do moves ONTO a weapon? For example if a chair, belt, barbed wire etc. is in the ring and you do a move near it and land on it - for it to do weapon damage to your opponent. Alternatively, if you do a suplex near a table and your opponent lands where the table is, make the table smash instead of it just moving out of the way.
- In The Hell In A Cell mode they need to make the area between the Ring and Cell bigger. It's frustratingly small and if anyone else is in the space no one else can get through. You should also still be able to get weapons from under the ring in this mode. This is something that's been missing year after year, and would be a great addition. Weapons are used more in Hell In A Cell matches than most others, so it's silly that you can't get them on this mode.
You should then be able to take weapons up onto the cell, as has often happened. Also, they should perhaps consider making it a big more difficult to get out of the cell in the first place. It's hard to get out of the cell in wrestling, you can't just stroll out. Consider having to knock the referee out before you can get out of the door. Or perhaps kicking the door a lot of times until it breaks. You could even have a mini game where you try to break the lock.
- It's very frustrating how this year, only hardcore superstars could do weapon grapples. If you're facing a superstar who isn't "hardcore" and they are attacking you with a weapon, you can reverse it EVERY time because they only have the option of hitting you with it (so obviously it's L2 to reverse every time). People other than "Hardcore" wrestlers can also do weapon grapple type moves in actual wrestling.
- It should be much more difficult to reverse moves if you're really injured. Realistically if a player was really damaged or knocked out they wouldn't keep reversing. They should still be able to reverse when they're damaged, in order to shift the momentum, just not as often - to make it more realistic.
+ Season Mode +
- It'd be great to have an online GM Mode if that is possible. It's too long winded playing two player GM Mode as you have to take it in turns. It'd be much better to do it separately until joint PPV's. You could check your opponents ratings each week online by connecting to their console online.
If one player is ahead, once they got to a joint PPV they'd have to wait until the other player caught up. GM Mode is the best new addition to the game, but after you've done the
year and won it all, got all the wrestlers ratings to maximum etc. there's little replay value. Perhaps adding some cut scenes, challenges etc would give it more replay value.
- One of the main things that needs changing is the season mode. Season mode at the moment is so bland. It's actually fairly boring. It's just match after match with little story and no real choices - Choosing who to fight or who to team with is not a good choice.
What that needs doing is the player should be able to make choices with repercussions. The Season mode should be story lead, instead of having random matches with no real point to them. First of all you should be able to pick which title you want to go after and there should be different stories for each.
There should be cut scenes in which you can make a choice, with each choice leading down an alternative path in story mode. Rivalries should be built up, culminating in Hardcore matches and perhaps Hell In a Cell matches if the rivalry isn't ended.
There should be lots of different twists and turns. For example a tag team may ask you to join then. If you accept you create a stable and beat up a single wrestler creating a feud with them. If you decide not to join them, the other two members attack you and you face a two on one handicap match. It is a wrestling game and therefore should follow how wrestling actually is.
There are rivalries, not random matches, and wrestlers make choices. "No Mercy" was a perfect example of how to create a perfect story mode. It doesn't matter if each season is fairly short, it's better to have lots of short ones - which people will play through again and again - trying out each one of the paths, than one long, boring season as it currently is.
- Bring Back the Customizable Locker Room (with items to buy for it etc.) - It was a nice addition and again adds replay value by making you keep playing to buy all the different furniture.
- Make things much more difficult to unlock to keep a replay value. Things in all the past games have been much too easy to unlock, and as a result there is no pride or challenge in unlocking them. As soon as everything is unlocked, there is very little else to do on your own on the game.
- Bring back the old Challenge mode, with more challenges and increased difficulty. It was great how you could also unlock an old arena (WM2) by completing it. Random challenges that also good options.
- If you have a match with your opponent and you really damage them - get every body part 'red' and keep attacking them, for example keep applying the "sharpshooter" to further damage their legs, you should be able to injure them, which in season mode would further a feud after sidelining them for a few matches. This would encourage a player to have longer matches, with repercussions to really damaging a player.
+ Create Mode +
- It'd be a really nice touch to be able to upload your own music & videos for the Entrances of created wrestlers. You can upload files and music to your console, so surely this could be implemented? It'd make the CAW much more realistic. One of the Downfalls of a created wrestler is how you have to have the video of a superstar, and their music, so the CAW is much less realistic.
- Again, it'd be a nice touch to be able to edit superstars appearances with CAW parts. This would allow players to update them if they change their look in wrestling since the game was released.
- For created wrestlers introduce with actual name - I don't know if it's possible to recognize a characters name and say it - like you can do on a computer. It doesn't mind a lot of it sounds slightly computerized.
- Have some standard options for the announcement of a belt. "New Custom Belt Champion" is just stupid! Have a few options for belt names that are likely to be used, defunct titles such as "European Champion", "Television Champion" etc.

Re: **OFFICIAL WWE SmackDown! Vs Raw 2009 DISCUSSION THREAD**
My biggest problem with this game from what I have played is the ladder match/MITB. They make it hard for all the wrong reasons. To pull down the briefcase/title takes about 3 minutes of solid pulling, which is completely unrealistic. Rather than making it hard to retrieve the briefcase, it should be harder to actually set up the ladder in place, climb the ladder, and have a decent opportunity to grab whatever is hanging above the ring.
