A perfect example of a non-realistic reversal, well, hm, let's see. In SVR2007, someone like Khali, Show, Kane, or Undertaker, would backflip out of a german suplex if they reverse it. And it's been like this for all Smackdown games if I recall.
Now, this shouldn't be in SVR2008. Someone like Khali or Kane shouldn't be doing the same reversals that cruiserweights do. Their reversals for all moves should show their strength and power like in real life, and not their magical ability to do a backflip.

Agreed. I was kinda thinking the same thing today when I did a Taker/Batista match, and Taker would do a Cruiserweight-type armdrag on Batista. I agree with you on how they should improve that.

US, March 30, 2007 - While you've undoubtedly gotten your fair share of "multi-console" info on THQ's SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 yesterday in our exclusive interview, the brief chat we had with THQ reps was - while very informative - not too DS-friendly. New details emerged regarding the main career mode, the amount of effort going into the pure realism in this year's brawler, but tasty bits of info for pocket fans was left for another day. Apparently that day came sooner than we thought though, as THQ has revealed a few new details on the DS version today in the Grand Ballroom of the Atheneum Suite Hotel here in Detroit.
Though the majority of THQ's presentation was spent focusing on the multi-console version of the game, primarily 360 with a pinch of Wii thrown in, the company revealed a few basic details that should have DS fans perking up at least a little bit for this year's wrestling rampart. While the other versions focus on re-tuning the animations and controls ever-so-slightly, DS fans are getting the first official SmackDown! vs. Raw experience, so there's a bit more guess-work as to what we'll see come this fall.
THQ has announced, however, that the game is going to be a touch-specific title, using the stylus to control superstars, in-ring movement, and attacks. No detail was given as to how this will entirely work, but we'd assume it'll be very similar to Square's Mario Basketball, using different strokes for attacks. In addition, the game offers over 80 unique holds for various strategic options, so the touch integration will not only be used to mainstream the control, but also retain the depth needed for a comprehensive technical wrestler.
Rather than adopting the new 24/7 mode in other 2008 games, the DS version will retain the traditional Season Mode, so players can select their favorite wrestler, rise the ranks of the WWE, and make it to Wrestlemania for the big dance, all the while being treated to situation-specific storylines and classic WWE drama. As for the roster, THQ is selecting 20 wrestlers from the SmackDown, Raw, and ECW brands, so while we won't be getting the full gamut of gladiators it should shape up to be a decent cross-section of styles and personality.
No further details were given, but brief screen-shots were shown of the game in action (no word was given as to what stage in development the game is), and it looked very reminiscent of the classic N64 brawlers, shown all in 3D with relatively decent wrestler depiction in the models. From the sounds of it, we'll be getting a core SmackDown! vs. Raw experience, mixed with a more scaled down roster, and a unique form of gameplay that has yet to be revealed. No mention of online or multiplayer was made, but given the license we can assume that multi-cart action is a given.
We'll have more information on SmackDown! vs. Raw 2008 for DS as news breaks, so keep your eyes peeled to IGN.com for the latest in WWE news and media.

Agreed. I also hope they keep the chain reversal system from last year, that kept some flow in the match rather than the awkward reversals in '06. By the way, the AI will probably make or break this game, gameplay wise. I think they pretty much nailed everything last year in-game wise except for sloppy AI. I'm pretty sure they said they're improving it, especially in tag team matches, which have failed to deliver so far IMO.
Also I hated it in '07 when in HIAC they would sometimes go in and out of the cell continuosly, climbed the cage at stupid time in Steel Cage matches and sometimes in gimmick matches they would slide in and out of the ring if you were waiting for them and they weren't aggressive enough with the weapons, the lumbered around slowly and I for one hardly EVER got hit with them when they were using weapons.
I'm hoping for little touches like that to be worked out, gameplay wise. I also agreed with what you said before about them laying out flat sometimes so you could tell when they wouldn't kick out at all. Just some tiny little things need to be improved like that, I hope they remember to iron out the gameplay flaws and listen to the fans suggestions, not just improve it presentation wise eg new 24/7 mode and ECW roster being added.
They need to fix some of the things the fans have had major gripes with throughout the series. They're just my thoughts anyway.

Re: **OFFICIAL WWE SmackDown! Vs Raw 2008 DISCUSSION THREAD** (56K Beware)
what annoyed me in 07 was that if you knocked the refferee out and got a weapon if you hit the refferee, While he was knocked out you get a DQ, I just don't get it!

Also, a thing I would like fixed, is that if you are accompanying somebody to the ring (playing as the manager), then the person your managing shouldn't be DQ'ed, if you only attack THAT person manager..

- MVP's blue & white attire.
- Eddie as a legend in some old school attire.
- Kennedy's black attire hes been wearing lately.
- Old school Hardy Boyz attire as an alternative attire.
- Kendrick & London in the Red & White attire, or the blue and white.
- Helm's red and black attire.
- HHH & HBK in their DX attire.
- Edge in the blue Rated R superstar attire.
- CM punk in the red & black attire hes been wearing.

Re: **OFFICIAL WWE SmackDown! Vs Raw 2008 DISCUSSION THREAD** (56K Beware)
I don't want HBK and HHH to have DX attire by default, I think you should get to choose before the match (like with Kane and his mask in the other versions).
Sabu should have his purple pants.
Londrick in their blue and white attire.
Orton with red attire.
The rest I'm not too fussed about, but I think we should get at least one alternative attire for each superstar and some different colour attires from black and red, it seemed like thise colours were too frequent in last year's version IMO.

I like Funk as a legend but I wish they would reinclude Tazz as an ECW legend and than stick Lawler and JBL in as well so we have the color comentater package again. I loved playing as them.

Re: **OFFICIAL WWE SmackDown! Vs Raw 2008 DISCUSSION THREAD** (56K Beware)
i think they may include more legends in xbox/ps3 versions of the game just because of the bigger disc space (and the hard drives). every time they add something to the ps2 version they are going to have to take something else away.
