My most recent CZW PPV with the terrifyingly generic name Ashes and Dust - but was a pretty huge hit, despite it literally being the same card as the PPV I had the month before (in another generically named PPV called Disconnected). Seriously, with the exception of the Petey Williams/Nazi Destructor match for the CZW TV title (Petey Williams faced Super Dragon at the last PPV) and me adding Zack Sabre JR and Beef Wellington to the Steamboat/Kash match, it's an identical card. Right down to the Kassius Ohno interview. Laziness, thy name is WWE-style booking.
Didn't stop it from being a great card though. Nazi Destructor retained his TV title against Petey Williams(who has dangerously low morale and shouldn't be jobbing like this, but whatever). David Flair has finally reached the main event due to various feuds despite his stats being incredibly poor. It's actually admirable that he's reached 84 overness considering he has no ring skills and charisma. But dammit, he's a Flair!
Of course, the two huge matches were, of course Dr Cube vs Randy Orton and Mike Knox vs Dean Ambrose. Ambrose v Knox was predictable to the max as we all knew Knox wasn't dropping the belt to a nobody like Dean Ambrose (even though he's at 100 face overness). Knox wins feud clean and does a beatdown. It's the only way.
For the record, Knox has been World Champion and undefeated
(yes, I've made sure of this) for 712 days, or 1 year and 11 months. Credibility.
Naturally, Dr Cube vs Randy Orton was the main event in spirit (I order my matches in what I assume will be best to worst, so as to avoid the crowd shitting on a match inbetween if it doesn't meet their expectations. No-one shits on Dr Cube) in professional wrestling's first ever HELL IN A CUBE MATCH
. In the most built up and overpushed feud in CZW's history (within about 2 months I think Dr Cube had 19 feud victories and Orton had 11) Dr Cube mightily went over Orton in a great match and then beat him down after victory. In my head I imagine him laughing maniacally on top of the cube cell with lightening effects going off.
Next step: Dr Cube vs Mike Knox feud for the CZW World Title. It's going to be huge. Will Cube end Knox's 2 year long title reign? Will Knox ever be defeated? And who will turn face, as they're both heels? I have no answer to these questions, as I book on the fly.
